  • Phenolic acids of white ginseng were extracted and fractionated into free, esterified, and insoluble-bound forms. The contents of individual phenolic acids in different forms were quantified by gas liquid chromatography. Nine different phenolic acids as free, esterified, and insoluble-bound forms were identified in white ginseng. Total phenolic compounds in different forms of extracts was 0.309% (free form), 0.230% (esterified form) and 0.138% (insoluble-bound form), respectively. Total phenolic acid contents in free, esterified and insoluble-bound form were 889.3, 356.8, 1,176.9 mg/100g fraction, respectively. Ferulic acid was the predominant phenolic acid, representing 63.7% and 50.9% of total phenolic acids in esterified fom and insoluble-bound form, respectively. While caffeic acid was only detected in esterified form. At 10 mg/ml insoluble-bound form quenched 95.9% ABTS free radicals generated from 2,2-azobis(2-amidinopropane) dihydrochloride (AAPH). Also, electron donating ability and lipid peroxidation inhibitory activity of insoluble-bound fom were higher than other fraction. All phenolic acid fractions scavenged over 80% of hydroxyl radical at 10 mg/ml.

  • In this Paper, the resistance performances of twin hull forms, which are simplified as two-dimensional wedge shape, are experimentally investigated in low and middle speed ranges to find out the effect of distance between two hulls and fore-body shape for the future hull form development of catamaran type sweeping vessel. The model tests are performed for seven different cases for three models in the circulating water channel(CWC) of Inha Technical College. The free surface flows are observed together to investigate the relation between resistance performance and free surface characteristics. A conceptual design for the modification of bow hull form is presented and the efficiency is discussed.

  • Hydrodynamic forces and moments produced by the swaying oscillation on the free surface were exactly calculated by Ursell-Tasai method for the cylinders with Kim's chine form sections and the sway responses of the cylinders of those chine form sections among the regular beam sea were also calculated. The results of the computation were compared with those of Lewis form sections. It is concluded that the effects of the section form on the added mass, and damping are small, if the section forms had same beam-draft ratio and sectional area coefficient in the case of sway motion. It is also known that the above little effects of section shapes on the basic hydrodynamic forces do not effect on the sway motion responses of cylinderical bodies among the regular beam sea. The sway motion responses of cylinderical bodies are varied linearly with the wave numbers.

  • This paper describes a method which uses rail curves for blending surfaces. Blending surface between the free form surfaces which have the flexible shapes and are widely used today is investigated. The rail curves give blending surface continuty through Pointwise interpola- tion. It is the point in this paper that the blending surfaces give a good flexibility to modeling of base free form surfaces. Using rail curves for simple base surfaces, complicated models can be designed. Also this blending surfaces can be used for path generation in compoud surfaces.

  • In this paper, we propose a method for obtaining state-space realization form of two-dimensional transfer function matrices (2DTFM). It contains free parameters. And, we perform various consideration about it. Moreover, we present the conditions so that the state-space realization form exists.

  • In this study, self-supporting roofing elements especially convenient for large-span structures such as stadium, airport terminal, mall, coliseum, etc. were examined with respect to critical buckling load. These elements were assumed as laminated composite plates and, variation of free-edge forms, cutout types and lamination configurations were used as design parameters. Based on the architectural feature and structural requirements, the effects of curvilinear free-edge form on critical buckling load were focused on in this research. Within this scope, 14 types of lamination configuration were specified according to various orientation angle, number and thickness of plies with a constant value of total plate thickness. Besides that, 6 different types of cutout and 3 different free-edge forms were determined. By combining all these parameters 294 different critical buckling load analyses were performed by using ANSYS Mechanical software based on finite element method. Effects of those parameters on critical buckling load were evaluated referring to the obtained results. According to the results presented here, it may be concluded that lamination conditions have more significant influence on the critical buckling load values than the other parameters. On the other hand, it is perceived that curvilinear free-edge forms explicitly undergo changings depending on lamination conditions. For future work, existence of delamination might be considered and progression of the defect could be investigated by using non-linear analysis.

  • We generalize a continued fraction of Ramanujan by introducing a free parameter. We give the closed form for the continued fraction. We also consider the finite form giving $n^{th}$ convergent using partition theory.

  • In this paper, we described a technique for the swing-up control of a 2 link acrobat robot using a cannonical form which is derived form the law of conservation of an angular momentum based on the center of the first joint. The wide usefulness of the canonical form of the acrobat robot, which was suggested here, is could also be applied to control a free flying robot or an underactuated planar manipulator with no gravity term. Some simulation results are provided to verify the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm

  • For the accurate creation of annotation information in a free-form annotation environment, the ambiguity that arises in the analysis stage between the geometric information and annotations needs to be resolved. Therefore, this This paper identifies, analyzes, and proposes presents solutions methods for the ambiguity that can occur between free-form marking and various contexts in XML-based annotation environment. The proposed method is based on context which includes various textual and structure information between free-form marking and annotated part. The proposed method show that the annotated portions areas included in the free-form marking information are more accurate, achieving more accurate exchange results amongst multiple users in a heterogeneous document environment. This study can be effectively applied to eLearning, Cyber-Class, and IETM
