역충격형 중공사모듈의 동특성 연구 (Dynamic Characterization of Backpulsing Hollow Fiber Module System)

  • 막오염을 줄이기 위해 고빈도 역충격 시스템을 적용한 새로운 분리막 모듈을 연구하였다. 폴리아크릴로니트릴(Polyacrilonitrile) 재질의 외경 1.4mm, 내경 0.9mm, 분획분자량 50,000인 한외여과막과 라텍스(latex)용액을 사용하여 실험하였다. 역충격을 중공사막에 적용했을 때 제안된 모델식에 의한 이론치와 실험치를 비교 분석하였고, 역충격을 적용했을 때와 하지 않았을 때의 경우를 비교하였다. 이론치를 계산하기 위해 비저항 계수(specific cake resistance), 케익성장시간상수(time constant for cake growth), 확산계수(diffusion coefficient), 그리고 4가지 오염모델의 속도상수를 구하였다. 고빈도의 역충격을 가한 모듈의 투과율은 역충격이 없을 때의 투과율보다 약 40∼120%가 증가하였고 모델을 이용한 예상값과 1∼14% 내의 오차 범위를 나타냈다. 최적 역충격 세기는 20∼40%의 범위에서 20%였고 최적 역충격 빈도수는 0.67∼3Hz 범위에서 2Hz로 나타났다.

아르곤 플라즈마를 이용하여 유리기판에 증착된 PTFE 박막의 초친수 특성 연구 (Hydrophobic Properties of PTFE Film Deposited on Glass Surface Etched by Ar-plasma)

  • An excellent hydrophobic surface has a high contact angle over 147 degree and the contact angle hysteresis below $5^0$ was produced by using roughness combined with hydrophobic PTFE coatings, which were also confirmed to exhibit an extreme adhesion to glass substrate. To form the rough surface, the glass was etched by Ar-plasma. A very thin PTFE film was coated on the plasma etched glass surface. Roughness factors before or after PTFE coating on the plasma etched glass surface, based on Wensel's model were calculated, which agrees well with the dependence of the contact angle on the roughness factor is predicted by Wensel's model. The PTFE films deposited on glass by using a conventional rf-magnetron sputtering. The glass substrates were etched Ar-plasma prior to the deposition of PTFE. Their hydrophobicities are investigated for application as a anti-fouling coating layer on the screen of displays. It is found that the hydrophobicity of PTFE films mainly depends on the sputtering conditions, such as rf-power, Ar gas content introduced during deposition. These conditions are closely related to the deposition rate or thickness of PTFE film. Thus, it is also found that the deposition rate or the film thickness affects sensitively the geometrical morphology formed on surface of the rf-sputtered PTFE films. In particular, 1,950-nm-thick PTFE films deposited for 30 minute by rf-power 50 watt under Ar gas content of 20 sccm shows a very excellent optical transmittance and a good anti-fouling property and a good durability.

A SOFT-SENSING MODEL FOR FEEDWATER FLOW RATE USING FUZZY SUPPORT VECTOR REGRESSION

  • Most pressurized water reactors use Venturi flow meters to measure the feedwater flow rate. However, fouling phenomena, which allow corrosion products to accumulate and increase the differential pressure across the Venturi flow meter, can result in an overestimation of the flow rate. In this study, a soft-sensing model based on fuzzy support vector regression was developed to enable accurate on-line prediction of the feedwater flow rate. The available data was divided into two groups by fuzzy c means clustering in order to reduce the training time. The data for training the soft-sensing model was selected from each data group with the aid of a subtractive clustering scheme because informative data increases the learning effect. The proposed soft-sensing model was confirmed with the real plant data of Yonggwang Nuclear Power Plant Unit 3. The root mean square error and relative maximum error of the model were quite small. Hence, this model can be used to validate and monitor existing hardware feedwater flow meters.

  • 1. Introduction : In microfiltration the transport, deposition and removal of particles control cake formation on a filter. In this connection a new model on cake formation, based on the wall shear stress, was tested here in comparison with experiments of fine particle slurry under Taylor-vortex flow. The model expresses the deposition process for particles as two first-order steps in series of mass transfer and adhesion, and their removal process as a linear relation to the wall shear stress. This embraces characteristics of both dead-end and crossflow filtration. The correlation resulting from fitting to experimental data represented the experimental data reasonably well. This study will be helpful in analyzing fouling in heat exchangers.

막격합형 활성슬러지 시스템에서 막오염 특성의 분석 (Characteristics of Membrane Fouling in the Membrane-Coupled Activated Sludge (MCAS) System)

  • 막결합형 활성슬러지 시스템의 운전에서 운전 시간에 따른 막 여과 특성의 변화를 살펴보았다. 슬러지의 순환 과정에서 전단력에 의한 플럭 크기의 변화가 여과 저항에 미치는 영향을 살펴보기 위해 여과 저항 모델식을 사용하였으며 또한 케이크 층의 특성 변화를 살펴보기 위해 입자의 비저항을 측정하였다. 플럭의 크기는 운전 초기 4~6시간 내에 급격한 감소 양상을 보였으며 이후 서서히 감소하여 20$\mu$m 부근의 값을 유지하였다. 운전 시간에 따른 입자의 비저항의 증가는 시간에 따른 입자 크기의 감소로부터 예상되는 결과와 잘 일치하였다. 플럭의 구성 성분 중에서 용존 유기물과 미생물이 플럭스 감소에 미치는 영향은 상대적으로 작았으며 콜로이드성 입자가 가장 큰 플럭스 감소 요인으로 작용하였다. 미생물 플록과 비교하여 콜로이드성 입자는 높은 비저항을 가졌으며 이로 인해 상대적으로 높은 케이크 저항을 나타내었다.

  • 테일러 와류흐름 여과에서 평균기공 1.2 ${\mu}m$인 셀룰로우스 에스테르 정밀막으로 이루어진 내부원통의 회전속도와 슬러리의 농도, 입자의 크기에 따른 여과선속의 변화를 실험을 통하여 알아보았다. 여과선속은 압력차에 비례하고 저항에 반비례하였으며, 시간에 따른 케이크 층의 저항 변화를 회전속도, 슬러리의 농도, 입자의 크기에 따라 검토하였다. 회전속도가 증가할수록 케이크 저항이 감소하고 짧은 시간에 준정상 상태에 도달하였다 슬러리의 농도를 증가시킬수록 초기 저항이 급격히 증가하였고 높은 저항값에서 준정상 상태가 유지되었으나, 준정상 상태에 도달하는 시간은 농도에 무관하였다. 입자 크기가 작을 때 저항이 크게 나타남을 관찰하였는데, 입자 크기가 작을수록 막 기공을 막을 확률이 더 높고 전단력에 의해 영향을 덜 받기 때문이라 생각할 수 있다. 본 연구에서 제안한 모델식은 입자의 퇴적과 제거항으로 나누어져 있는데, 실험상수의 평균값을 사용하여 실험결과와 잘 일치하였다.

Removal of organic acid salts from 1,3-propanediol fermentation broth by electrodialysis

  • ED method is employed to effectively remove the organic acid salts in actual PDO fermentation broth. The lower electrical potential is selected to avoid the serious membrane fouling so as to ensure a stable and durative desalination process. Under the selected operation conditions, about 90% of organic acids salts are removed from PDO fermentation broth successfully by ED process. To reduce the loss of PDO product due to the diffusion, the operation time should be considered carefully. And based on mass balance equation and irreversible thermodynamics approach, a mathematical model is developed to describe the desalination process of an aqueous solution containing neutral solute by ED method. While the influence of concentration polarization is reflected by decreasing the conductivity of membrane, the model is verified well to describe the ED processes under varied operation conditions. Through the model, ED process of actual PDO fermentation broth is simulated to get a suitable scope of initial concentration in concentrated compartment.

스펀지 볼을 이용한 원전용 복수기 튜브 세정 시스템 개발 (Development on Cleaning System of Condenser for Nuclear Power Plant by Using Sponge Ball)

  • This study presents a development of the cleaning system in a nuclear power plant condenser. The tube cleaning system is very important equipment in a power plant condenser. Specially, removal of the fouling is a key process in the condenser tube. The objective of this study is development of a ball collector system for cleaning a condenser by using a sponge ball. This study uses CFD in order to optimize design of the ball strainer screen. Through the CFD, the implication of the ball strainer screen for static pressure distribution is examined. Results of research, this study have developed a 1/5 scale model for application to the power plant and developed a performance test equipment.

  • Mixed combustion expert system is implemented to prevent various problems in combustion process by increasing rate of mixing low calorific value coal to reduce costs. This system shows optimal coal mixture rate by interfacing CBS(Coal Blending Screener, Implementing slagging and fouling factors by coal characteristic and algorithm), SGE(Stream Generate Expert, Combustion process model) and CFS(Configured Fireside Simulator, Computational fluid dynamics).

Sole and Combined Usage of Ultra-sonication and Hydrogen Peroxide as Mitigation Techniques of Bio-fouling

  • Mussels are stubborn organism attached to solid substrate by byssus threads and caused operational problems in utility of power generating stations. Sole and combined usage of ultrasonic (28 kHz- and 42 kHz- frequencies) and hydrogen peroxide ($H_2O_2$) has studied for control of blue mussel larvae and adult stage in seawater condition. A theoretical wo rking model using disinfection (Chick and Watson type) approaches is presented based on helpful results of experiments. This study also demonstrate that the combined treatment (ultra-sonication with $H_2O_2$) is overall highly efficient than individual treatment would, but on the basis of exposure time, the ultra-sonication was the most efficient among them. Therefore the development of sole and combined technique might be effective practical mitigation strategy against mussel attachment for water handling facilities.
