Novel Design of A Wideband Folded Monopole Antenna with Parasitic Element for DVB-H Application

  • Novel design of a wideband monopole antenna for DVB-H service is presented. The proposed antenna is designed based on a monopole antenna. It consists of folded monopole and parallel parasitic element. The folded segment of the folded monopole makes the antenna shorter. The length of the parasitic element obtains additional resonance frequencies. The gap distance between the folded monopole and the parasitic element is a key parameter to control impedance matching for wideband operation. The antenna has wide band performance, good impedance and radiation characteristics from 470 MHz to 870 MHz. The measured return loss for operating frequencies over DVB-H band is better than 10 dB. Good radiation patterns are also obtained. The measured results are compared with calculated results using Ansoft HFSS(High Frequency Structure Simulator).

  • In this paper, the broadband FCMA(Folded Cross Monopole Antenna), which is the cross monopole antenna with the folded element, is presented. To investigate the broadband characteristics of FCMA the VSWR, the gain, and the radiation pattern are calculated in frequency between 1.75 GHz and 2.655 GHz. From the calculated result, it is shown that the presented folded cross monopole antenna has a excellent band characteristics than the existing cross monopole antenna. The presented antenna is conformed as a broadband antenna which can be used for the indoor antenna of PCS, WCDMA, Wibro, and satellite DMB band.

다중 폴드 이중 사각루프형태의 이중 모노폴 안테나 (Multi Folded Dual rectangle loop Type Dual Monopole Antenna)

  • In this paper, multi folded dual monopole antenna for WLAN communication of dual bend is designed and fabricated. The proposed multi folded dual monopole antenna are consisted of two folded rectangle loops by microstrip fed that is modified dual monopole antenna. Therefore, the outside rectangle loop structure of the proposed antenna is extended a dual monopole. The characteristics of the proposed antenna is analyzed return loss and radiation patterns by the FDTD tools. As a result a bandwidth of proposed antenna has about 0.82GHz from 2.0 to 2.82[GHz] and 0.7GHz from 5.46 to 6.16[GHz]. It is used WLAN communications of 2[GHz] and 5[GHz].

무선 DVI 동글장치를 위한 스파이럴 구조를 갖는 폴디드 모노폴 안테나에 관한 연구 (A Study on Folded Monopole Antenna with Spiral Shape for Wireless DVI Dongle Applications)

  • In this paper, we proposes a internal antenna for wireless DVI dongle device using the folded monopole structure. The proposed antenna uses a basic structure of spiral and monopole. The antenna optimized for parameters length, gap, width, and rectangle of folded monopole antenna using the spiral structure. To confirm the characteristics of the antenna parameters, HFSS from ANSYS Inc. was used for the analysis. We used an FR4 dielectric substrate with a dielectric constant of 4.4. The DVI dongle size of the proposed antenna is $50{\times}40{\times}1.6mm$, and the size of the antenna area is $10{\times}40mm$. There is a value of return loss less then -10dB in 2.4GHz and 5.8GHz, band and the maximum antenna gain is -4.13dBi. The utilization possibility of the wireless DVI Dongle antenna have a folded monopole with spiral shape could be confirmed according to compare and analyze the simulation and measurement data.

  • 본 논문에서는 수직한 스트립의 끝을 ‘ㄷ’형태로 접어 안테나 높이를 줄인 새로운 구조의 폴디드 멀티스트립(folded multi-strip) 모노폴 안테나를 제안하였다. 안테나는 VSWR$\leq$2를 기준으로 하한 주파수 4.55 GHz에서 상한 주파수 8.4 GHz까지 1.85 : 1의 대역비를 갖는 광대역 특성을 나타내고 있다. 전방향으로 동일한 복사이득을 갖는 코니컬 빔의 수평단면 복사패턴을 가지며, 대역폭 내에서 왜곡 없는 안정된 복사패턴 특성을 유지하고 있다.

  • 본 논문에서는 접힌 모노폴 안테나 모델을 응용하여 KPCS대역용 내장형 안테나를 설계하고 이를 제작한다. 모노폴 안테나가 갖는 고이득 특성을 가지면서 휴대폰 내부에 용이하게 탑재할 수 있는 안테나구조를 제안한다. 이 안테나는 KPCS 대역의 중간 주파수인 1.8GHz를 중심으로 설계되었으며, 설계를 위하여 안테나 구조에서 길이변화에 따른 임피던스 특성 변화를 시뮬레이션 한다. 제작된 안테나를 측정한 결과 정재파비 2:1을 기준으로 17.2 - 1.88GHz의 대역특성과 H면 무지향수동(passive) 방사특성을 보였다. 또한 능동(active) 특성을 측정한 결과, 최대 -105 - -108dBm감도 및 22.5-23.6dBm 출력 특성을 보인다.

Design of a Three Dimensional Folded Monopole Antenna Using Current Flow

  • A new type of monopole antenna whit broadband characteristics is presented in this article. To reduce the size of the antenna, its upper part is folded. By separating the current flow, the resonance in the shorter part is in the higher band; and the longer part resonates in the lower band. This gives the broadband characteristics of the antenna. Slots on the corner using an oblique line improve the impedance matching and bandwidth. The measurement results show that the bandwidth operates from 0.848~0.992 GHz and 1.744~2.528 GHz, and the radiation patterns are in an omni-directional shape.

  • In this paper, we designed and fabricated a multi-band folded monopole antenna for mobile handsets that can be used for multiple services. The proposed antenna, with a small size of $28.060{\times}12.665{\times}5.035mm^3$ can provide sufficient bandwidth to cover the GSM900 (Global System for Mobile Communications: 880-960 MHz), DCS (Digital Cellular System: 1710-1880 MHz), K-PCS (Korea-Personal Communication Service: 1750-1870 MHz), Wibro (2300-2390 MHz) and Bluetooth (2400-2483 MHz) bands.

  • In this paper, we designed and implemented an internal multi-band folded monopole antenna for mobile handset. The proposed antenna covers Global System for Mobile Communications (GSM900: 880~960 MHz), Digital Communications System (DCS: 1710~1880 MHz), US-Personal Communications Service (US-PCS: 1850~1990 MHz), Bluetooth(2400~2484 MHz), WiMAX(3400~3600 MHz), and Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN: 5150~5350 MHz, 5725~5875 MHz) band for Voltage Standing Wave Ratio $(VSWR)\;{\le}\; 3$. The measured peak gains of the implemented antenna are -1.78dBi at 920MHz, 2.72dBi at 1795MHz, 2.25dBi at 1920MHz, 2.34dBi at 2442MHz, 2.11 dBi at 3550MHz, and 2.04 dBi at 5250MHz.

  • 본 논문에서는 접지면에 역 T형 노치를 넣은 평면형 폴디드 모노폴 안테나를 제안하였다. 제안된 안테나에서는 대역폭을 늘리기 위하여 내부 패치와 외부 패치의 폭들을 점차 넓히는 방향으로 변화를 주었고, 그라운드에 가로와 세로 slit의 길이가 비슷하고 폭은 약 2배 정도 차이가 있는 노치를 넣어 설계 및 모의실험을 하였다.
