  • After the introduction of the 7th education program, educational facilities have been requested to change to face new curriculums and have been planned. The purpose of this study is to fill up a gap between the study of education facilities, building planning and real educational spot and also find difference of plan composition by analyzing latest middle school floor plans. In this regard, floor plans of 8 middle schools proposed in LH design competition is compared and analyzed in this study. To sum up this analysis, the guide lines suggested from Korean educational development institute(KEDI) has not been followed in many building planning. For subject classrooms, guide lines from KEDI were ignored and support facilities did not planned as necessary space calculated through scale estimation program. To select a planned proposal in the future, demand of scale estimation, various studies, real educational spot and etc. should be reflected.

  • It was the purpose of this study that propose architectural design process through analysis of concepts considering regional characteristics. The procedure of this study was as follows : First, classifying design process through investigating paper-survey and case studies. And We would investigate representation process of design concepts applied to design competitions entries. Finally, we would investigate design process applied to buildings in various districts. In the results, we could find that domestic architects were applying to site plan, floor plan, elevation plan, section plan and mass plan-led design process to express design concepts. And according to survey on buildings in various districts, we could verify that architects were applying various design process to express design concepts according to site characteristics. These results could help architects to design appropriately, according to site characteristics.

  • The purpose of this study was to identify current housing status and housing awareness such as housing values, satisfaction, and preferences among households with one child. Data were obtained from a questionnaire completed by both husbands and wives living in metropolitan area and aged between 25 and 45. Selected variables were the age, education level, and employment status of housewives, ideal number of children, monthly income, plan to give birth, and so on. Using purposive sampling method, five hundred questionnaires were administered and 360 questionnaires were analyzed. In accordance with the questions related to housing values, housing satisfaction of respondents was examined. In order to compare the housing values, preferences, and satisfaction among diverse variables of respondents, mean, t-test, F test, Duncan's multiple range test, $x^2$ test, and factor analysis were used. The major findings of this study are as follows: First, there were significant differences in current housing type, tenure type, and floor area according to housewives' age, education level, monthly income, and plan to give birth. Interestingly, households not having a plan to give birth in the future were living in larger house than the households having a plan to give birth. Second, housing values of households with one child were divided into 4 factors-environmental comfort, economy and convenience, social status symbolism, and adequacy of space planning. Items related to privacy showed the biggest difference between housing values and housing satisfaction. Third, most of the respondents wanted larger house than current housing. However, the need for quality of housing including floor area and amenities was significantly higher among households not having a plan to give another birth than households having a plan to give birth in the future.

  • University dormitory has some weaknesses against disaster such as fire because of high population density and strict control of access in night time. The purpose of this study is suggestion of a guide of effective floor plan for improvement of evacuation safety. Plans for preventing disasters are studied and evacuation safeties are analysed using network model analysis method according to plan types. The weakness of disaster prevention is quantified, and effectiveness of bidirectional evacuation is confirmed. The circuit type floor plan shows best evacuation characteristics and this result is anticipated to be adopted to design process of new dormitories and will contribute to improvement of evacuation safety.

  • The purpose of this study is getting information for making a plan of immigrant workers in Korea. As a first step to suggest plans for immigrant workers who have multi-cultural background, this study investigated to the domestic living of Koreans(ChoSun-Tribe) of Gillim province in China. For this, usage of domestic space questionnaire were used. Results of the research were as follows. 1. The most popular LDK type was the one which kitchen was separated from living room and dining room. Most of them thought that kitchen and living room have to be separated. 2. There was no plan for laundry room specially and most houses have a washing machine in the bathroom. Most houses didn't install a bathtub in the bathroom and they didn't think that it was indispensable. 3. It was estimated that they used a living room as a multi-purpose room for the family but used a master bedroom for its own purpose. 4. They used a table and chair for meals normally but they took meals sitting on the floor with a large family or guest. 5.All of them took off the shoes inside of the house for hygienic reason. There was no plan for the space to take on-off shoes in most houses and they just put the mat on the floor for it. 6. Modified Ondol system which use water pipe under the floor was popular in apartment while most detached houses had traditional Ondol system. The satisfaction about Ondol system was very high compared to other ones and also Ondol system was the most desirable one for ChoSun-Tribe.

  • This study discusses the conceptual definition of a balcony and the emergence of basic-type and expansion-type floor plans according to the balcony utilization. In addition, the change in building density is analyzed with regard to real cases, and base data are offered for future urban policies in Incheon Metropolitan City. The context of the Building Acts could be understood through the analysis of various balcony definitions and characteristics, and the analysis was divided into basic and extension types according to the legalization that occurred in 2005. The issue of density according to balcony expansion is discussed through theories, and a planned attempt at density management in the target area is investigated. The building area, floor area, and floor area ratio are discussed with regard to the target area, and the density management is empirically proven, which is different from the Unit Plan.

  • The origin of the Roman public basilica is Rome's indigenous style morphologically but actually it seems that developed the Greek semi-open style stoa into the Roman practical interior space. In the early ages, the arrangement of Roman forum had been planned high symbolical temple as the center but gradually changed into the basilica centered which were used often by citizen. Through the Roman period, the important types of early Roman basilica have Fano basilica in the first century BC, Pompei basilica of mid period in the first century AD, Doclear basilica with apse as late type in the second century AD. Pompei type well characterized the feature of Roman public basilica among them. The result of the floor plan analysis shows that the long side access to the interior space is over 76 percent of examples and nearly 70 percent have no apse and the average of vertical horizontal length ratio presents as 1:2.3. The typical plan of Roman public basilica can be defined that most of access are being entered from one of the long side, and most of basilica have no apse, and normally having inner columns arranged in one or more concentric rectangles around nave as a center.

  • Speed-up and mass reduction of railway vehicle usually causes increased of the interior noise. One of the best ways to control the interior noise is to identify the noise level radiated from each of parts in the cabin. In this paper, we describe the method to estimate the interior noise nad evaluate the noise contribution to each of parts. This method is based that the sound pressure can be calculated by using the frequency response function and acceleration. According to analysis of the noise contribution, we validated that the noise radiated from the floor is the higher in the cabin. We also measured the noise distribution for the side and floor by using the microphone array in order to analyze the effect of the noise flowing into the cabin from the outdoors. Finally, we presented the plan of the interior noise reduction based on the noise levels radiated from each of parts.
