The purpose of this research was focused on substantiating an effects of tendon-layouts and compressed stress($=f_{pc}$) induced by post-tensioning on seismic performance of post-tensioned flat plate slab-column connection designed as non-participating system. To accomplish this purpose, an experimental research of flat plate exterior slab-column connections subjected to gravity load and reversed lateral displacement history are presented. As a result, tendon-layout is a main variable to influence failure mechanism, dissipated energy and lateral deformation capacity. Furthermore, compressed stress ($=f_{pc}$) induced by post-tensioning enhanced the seismic performance of flat plate slab.
Seismic design of reinforced concrete flat plate structures is often complicated as it deals with three dimensionality and continuous spans, and mostly material complexity and reinforcement variation. A great degree of uncertainty in such structural and material properties is thus inherent in the RC flat plate systems, and hinders simplification of the design process in terms of slab flexure, unbalanced moment transfer at a slab-column connection, and punching shear. For these reasons, there have been substantial changes and updates in building codes relating to flat plates and slab-column connections over a handful of decades. Also, for the same reason, some of codes never have been revised. As a consequence of nonsimultaneous development of each provision, it tends to confuse structural engineers when using a mixture of all different US code provisions. In this paper, in the step-by-step logical order, seismic design of the RC flat plate systems is re-organized and clarified to make it easier to apply. Furthermore, recent changes or proposed changes are introduced, and are explained as to how it will apply in practice.

The failure of flat plate connection is successive failure process accompanying with stress redistribution, hence it is necessary to compute the contributions of each resistance components at ultimate state. In the present study, the interactions of resultant forces at each faces of connection, i.e. shear, bending moment and torsional moment are considered in the assessment of strength of slab. As a result the strength prediction model for connection is made up as combination of bending resistance, shear resistance and torsional resistance. The proposed method is verified by the experimental data and numerical data of continuous slabs.
This paper presents a simplified grid beam model for simulating the nonlinear response of reinforced concrete flat-plate structures. The beam elements are defined with nonlinear behavior for bending moment and torsion. The flexural stiffness and torsional strength of the beam elements are defined based on experimental data to implicitly account for slab two-way bending effects. A failure criterion that considers the interaction between the punching strength and slab flexural behavior is incorporated in the model. The effects of bond-slip of slab reinforcement on connection stiffness are examined. The proposed grid beam model is validated by simulating large-scale tests of slab-column connections subjected to concentric gravity loading and unbalanced moment. This study also determines the critical parameters for a hysteretic model used to simulate flat-plates subjected to cyclic lateral loading.

This paper is experimental study to define the structural behaviors of reinforced flat plate under combined gravity and lateral loads. Specific objectives of this study reported herein are : (1) To study the behavior of a typical slab-column subassemblage under lateral loading. (2) To study the effects of vertical loads on slab-column lateral load behavior. (3) To investigate the post-failure behavior of slab-column connetios. To achieve these objectives, this study includes four tests of slab-column subassemblages that were made for 1/2 scale. Finally, Test results of this study show that the level of gravity load on the flat plate is one of the most important factors determining the lateral behavior of flat plate connections.
The study is an experimental test on full-scale flat plate slab-column interior connection. The punching shear on the flat plate slab-column connection can bring about the reason of the brittle punching shear failure which may result of collapsing the whole structure. From the development of residential flat plate system, the shear reinforcement is developed for preventing the punching shear. For making sure of the punching shear capacity, developed for shear reinforcement in slab-column connection, the structural test is performed. The dimension of the slabs was 2620*2725*180mm with square column (600*800mm). The slabs were tested up to failure monotonic vertical shear forces. The presences of S/S bar and wire mesh substantially increased the punching shear capacity and the ductility of the slab-column connections.
The aim of the present paper is to study the ${\delta}$-Lorentzian trans-Sasakian manifold endowed with semi-symmetric metric connections admitting ${\eta}$-Ricci Solitons and Ricci Solitons. We find expressions for the curvature tensor, the Ricci curvature tensor and the scalar curvature tensor of ${\delta}$-Lorentzian trans-Sasakian manifolds with a semisymmetric-metric connection. Also, we discuses some results on quasi-projectively flat and ${\phi}$-projectively flat manifolds endowed with a semi-symmetric-metric connection. It is shown that the manifold satisfying ${\bar{R}}.{\bar{S}}=0$, ${\bar{P}}.{\bar{S}}=0$ is an ${\eta}$-Einstein manifold. Moreover, we obtain the conditions for the ${\delta}$-Lorentzian trans-Sasakian manifolds with a semisymmetric-metric connection to be conformally flat and ${\xi}$-conformally flat.
The punching shear strength of concrete flat plates is one of the topics of intensive research in recent years by various concrete structures researchers. This paper reviews four current methods of analysing the punching shear strength at the corner-and edge-column positions of reinforced concrete flat plates. They include those recommended in the Australian Standard AS3600-1988, the American Concrete Institute ACI318-89 and the British Standard on Concrete Practices (BS8110) as well as the approach developed at the University of Wollongong, Australia. Based on half-scale model test results, a comparative study of these four analysis methods is made with regard to their limitation, accuracy and reliability. It is found that the Wollongong approach in general gives the best performance in predicting the punching shear strength of flat plates with torsion strips and those with spandrel beams. The Australian Standard procedure performs just as satisfactorily for flat plates with torsion strips but tends to be unsafe for those with spandrel beams. Both the ACI and the British methods are applicable only to flat plates with torsion strips; they also tend to give unsafe predictions for the punching shear strength.
Many experiments have been performed to investigate eccentric shear strength and unbalanced moment-carrying capacity of flat plate-column connections under combined gravity and lateral load. However, each existing experiment used different test setup, and the shear strength of the connection was different depending on the test setup. Current design methods which were based on the experimental results might not accurately explain the shear strength of the flat plate. In a companion study, based on results of nonlinear finite element analyses, an alternative design method for the plate-column connection was developed. However, in this method, eccentric shear strength of the connection which was required for assessing unbalanced moment-carrying capacity was evaluated by an empirical formula. In the present study, a theoratical approach using Rankine's failure criterion was attemped to investigate failure mechanism of the eccentric shear. Based on the results, an improved strength model of the eccentric shear was developed, and it was verified by comparison with the existing experimental results. By means of the strength model, the design method developed in the companion study was re-verified.
Flat-plate building systems are utilized extensively for construction of apartments, hotels and office buildings because of short construction period, low floor-to-floor height and flexibility in plan design. Recently, to increase lateral seismic resistance of flat-plate building systems, wall-columns are used frequently. Therefore, to estimate strength of flat-plate column connection accurately, the effect of column section shape on the behavior of flat-plate column connection should be considered properly, In the present study, a numerical analysis was performed for interior connections of continuous flat-plate to analyze the effect of column section shape. For the purpose, a computer program for nonlinear FE analysis was developed, and the validity was verified. Through the parametric study, the variations of shear stress distribution around the connection were investigated. According to the result of numerical analysis, as the length of the cross section of column in the direction of lateral load increases, the effective area and the maximum shear strength providing the torsional resistance decrease considerably. Therefore, these effects should be considered properly to estimate the strength of flat-plate connection accurately.
