  • This study is a technology related to a seismic protection device for a fire pipe for installation in a building such as an apartment or a building. The fire pipe is fixed to the base panel by fastening bolts so as to flow left and right. The present invention relates to an earthquake-resistant apparatus for a fire-extinguishing piping, which is capable of minimizing damages caused by an earthquake in order to prevent damages and breakage of a fire-extinguishing pipe by mitigating earthquakes, vibrations, It is connected to an insert plate embedded in concrete or ceiling hanger bolts formed at regular intervals on the ceiling to keep the piping constant from the ceiling and to keep the horizontal condition of the piping always constant so that the piping relaxes or sags And to effectively prevent damage to the piping. The can get.

  • Tunnel is a semi-closed structure similar to underground space where the smoke generated from fire fills the space fast while escaping from the space slow. Because of such characteristics, when the fire breaks out by traffic accident, the vehicles are jammed making it difficult for the people to evacuate from the scene as well as for the fire engine to gain access to the scene. For such reasons, tunnels are globally categorized into some disaster classes for differentiated facilities and operation approaches. In Korea, less than a 1 km-long tunnel accounts for 80.0% and such a short tunnel which is categorized into Class III is not required to have smoke control system. In this study, a full-scale fire test was conducted in a bid to apply air curtain system using heat-resistant sirocco fan to a less than 1 km-long tunnel. To that end, heat resistance test to verify the normal operation at $250^{\circ}C$ for 60 minutes was conducted. Consequently, despite of rapid rising-temperature and increasing-carbon dioxide inside the air curtain (direction of fire in tunnel), initial condition was found to have been sustained outside the air curtain (opposite direction of fire in tunnel).

  • Main tobacco diseases were surveyed on major flue-cured leaf tobacco fields throughout South Korea in 2006. Mosaic caused by potato virus Y and bacterial wilt caused by Ralstonia solanacearum were most severe during harvest season. During last ten years, the damage by tobacco mosaic virus was reduced but the incidence of bacterial wilt increased. These changes of the disease incidences coincide with release time of the tobacco cultivar resistant to the tobacco mosaic virus but susceptible to bacterial wilt pathogen. Wild fire(Pseudomonas syringae pv. tabaci strain ungulate) occurred severely at Kangwon province, though the symptom of wild fire with yellow halo was not observed.

  • In this study, analytic stress-displacement solutions are obtained by using a shear lag modeling constructed for the spliced joint area with a splicing gap filled with adhesive material of elastic modulus $E_{a}$ in the fiber metal laminate (FML) which is known to have excellent fatigue, corrosion and fire-flame resistant characteristics while with relatively low densities compared to the conventional aluminum alloys for lightweight structures.

  • Performance has been developed in terms of structural strength. Especially, in a structural steels, it is regarded as a common design process that an yield stress of thicker plate than 40mm uses that of below 40mm in thickness. This can be done using TMCP(Thermo mechanical control process). In this study, the structural stabilities such as deflection, maximum load carrying capacity would be calculated in high temperatures.

  • In this study, we have carried out the test to examine the ignition characteristics, such as a relation of moisture content and combustibility, and ignition temperature using KRS-RG-9000 tester, living leaves and dead leaves of significant 7 species of Young Dong Provinces of Korea after and before the rainfall. After 144 hours at normal temperature, the percentage of water content of the needle-shaped leaves was less than 10%. So it is suppose to be ignite easily. On the other hand, the self-temperature to ignite of broadleaf is higher. So the retard time at lower temperature is more long than needle-shaped leaf. Consequently, the fire-resistant qualities of broadleaf is higher than needle-shaped leaf.

  • Restraints of Branch Lines are used as earthquake-resistant support devices for fire-fighting pipes along with sway brace devices. The central types are aligned and fixed in a straight line with center of the pipe, but the eccentric types are fixed to on side of the pipe, so a bending moment occurs. In this study, three specimens each of central type and eccentric type were installed at an angle of 45° from the vertical and a monotonic compression load of 1340N was applied. All central type samples satisfied 17.8mm of the allowable displacement, but all eccentric type samples failed to meet the target load and buckled. Therefore, when considering the performance of eccentric type restraints, both compressive load and bending moment must be considered. Even through material mechanics calculations, the yield stress of eccentric type - 3/8 inch all threaded steel bolt - exceeds 320Mpa of the allowable stress. A experiment standards need to be established for eccentric type restraints.

  • Recently, since the advanced nano technology develops unique physical and chemical properties different from those of the conventional materials. Normal concretes mixed with nano - $SiO_2$ have been studied to improve the fire-resistance with high strength and lower heat conductivity. In this pilot study, the nano-particle contents in the specimens (${\Phi}100{\times}200 mm$) were 0, 2, 4, and $6\%$ by weight of cement, and fire-temperatures $200^{\circ}C$, $500^{\circ}C$, and $800^{\circ}C$ were considered. The results show that as the nano-particle contents increases, the weight loss of concrete gradually decreases, and the compressive strength after fire-attack increases effectively.

  • Purpose: This paper is for the improvement of the fire gate performance that occurs between the construction company and the residents. A survey was conducted on experts in the construction to prepare the causes and measures for the suit. Method: The application of the Analytic Hierarchy Process(AHP) resulted in the following conclusions. Results: TIn the 2nd tier, 28percent of the "strengthening standards for installation of fire prevention zones" included in the "institutional strengthening of stnadards" of the 1st tier had higher importance. In the 3rd tier, "strengthening the installation standards by floor area" and "strengthening the standard of fire-resistant structures" showed high importance. Conclusion: The results suggest that detailed legal criteria for detailed installation criteria with varying site conditions are needed.

  • Fire resistance and field tests for high-strength concrete(HSC) of 80MPa were carried out to evaluate whether or not it shows the same material properties even in the field condition of being mass-produced and supplied. As a result, it was found that fire resistant HSCs containing composite fiber(NY, PP) of 0.075% have great resistance to fire and spalling. In the field test, before the pumping air contents, slump flow, U-box, L-flow, compressive strength, gap of hydration temperature of interior and exterior of specimen and placing ratio per hour satisfied the required properties of HSC. However, after the pumping of HSC, as slump flow and L-flow were slightly less than required criterion, they need to be improved. In terms of hydration temperature of HSC, it was found to satisfy the related criterion. Packing ability as well as placing ratio per hour of HSC, which was about $44m^3$, show outstanding results. If slump flow of developed ternary HSC is improved after the pumping it can be useful for the construction of high-rise buildings.
