Geosynthetics as a reinforcing material for earth structures have ever increased due to their excellent economy, fine external appearance, and easy construction. Geogrids are high-strength, orientated-polymer grid structures used to reinforce soil. This paper deals with the construction and sire monitoring for a 5.1m high-reinforcd slope with $75^{\circ}$ steep. The purpose of site monitoring is to evaluate the applicability of reforced slope with geogrid. Full scale field performance during and after construction was monitored by incorporating instrumentation including strain gauges on the geogrid, and horizontal and vertical movements.
In the semiconductor industry the final products were checked for several environments before sell the products. The burning test of memory and chip was implemented in reliability for all of parts. The memory and chip were developed to high density memory and high performance chip, so circuit design was also high integrated and the test bed was needed to be thin and fine pitch socket. LGA(Land Grid Array) IC socket with thin wall thickness was designed to satisfy this requirement. The LGA IC socket plastic part was manufacture by injection molding process, it was needed accuracy, stiffness and suit resin with high flowability. In this study, injection molding process analysis was executed for 2 and 4 cavities moldings with runner, gate and sprue. The warpage analysis was also implemented for further gate removal process. Through the analyses the total deformations of the moldings were predicted within maximum 0.05mm deformation. Finally in consideration of these results, 2 and 4 cavities molds were designed and made and tested in injection molding process.
Accurate estimation of the masses, the ages, and the chemical abundances of host stars is crucial to understand physical characteristics of exo-planetary systems. In this study, we investigate physical dimensions of 94 planet-hosting stars based on spectroscopic observation and stellar evolutionary computation, From the high resolution echelle spectroscopy of the BOES observation, we have analysed metallicities and alpha-element enhancements of host stars. By combining recent spectro-photometric observations, stellar parameters are calibrated within the frame work of the standard stellar theory. In general, the minimum chi-square estimation can be strongly biased in cases that stellar properties rapidly changes after the terminal age main-sequence. Instead, we adopt a Bayesian statistics considering a priori distribution of stellar parameters during the rapid evolutionary phases. we determine a reliable set of stellar parameters between theoretical model grids. To overcome this statistical bias, (1) we adopt a Bayesian statistics considering a priori distribution of stellar parameters during the rapid evolutionary phases and (2) we construct the fine model grid that covers mass range ($0.2{\sim}3.0M_{\odot}$) with the mass step ${\Delta}M=0.01M_{\odot}$, metallicities Z = 0.0001 ~ 0.04, and the helium and the alpha-element enhancement. In this presentation, we introduce our calibration scheme for several hosting stars.

As the performance and density of IC (integrated circuit) devices increase, power and signal integrities in the global interconnects of advanced packaging technologies are becoming more difficult. Thus, the global interconnect technologies should be designed to accommodate increased input/output (I/O) counts, improved power grid network integrity, reduced RC delay, and improved electrical crosstalk stability. This requirement resulted in the fine-pitch interconnects with a low-k dielectric in 3D packaging or wafer level packaging structure. This paper reviews an organic-inorganic hybrid material as a potential dielectric candidate for the global interconnects. An organic-inorganic hybrid material called polysiloxane can provide spin process without high temperature curing, an excellent dielectric constant, and good mechanical properties.
Glass fiber reinforced polymer (GFRP) elastic gridshells consist of long continuous GFRP tubes that form elastic deformations. In this paper, a method for the form-finding of gridshell structures is presented based on the interpretable machine learning (ML) approaches. A comparative study is conducted on several ML algorithms, including support vector regression (SVR), K-nearest neighbors (KNN), decision tree (DT), random forest (RF), AdaBoost, XGBoost, category boosting (CatBoost), and light gradient boosting machine (LightGBM). A numerical example is presented using a standard double-hump gridshell considering two characteristics of deformation as objective functions. The combination of the grid search approach and k-fold cross-validation (CV) is implemented for fine-tuning the parameters of ML models. The results of the comparative study indicate that the LightGBM model presents the highest prediction accuracy. Finally, interpretable ML approaches, including Shapely additive explanations (SHAP), partial dependence plot (PDP), and accumulated local effects (ALE), are applied to explain the predictions of the ML model since it is essential to understand the effect of various values of input parameters on objective functions. As a result of interpretability approaches, an optimum gridshell structure is obtained and new opportunities are verified for form-finding investigation of GFRP elastic gridshells during lifting construction.
The demand for mass calculation of offsite consequence analysis to conduct exhaustive single-unit or multi-unit Level 3 PSA is increasing. In order to perform efficient offsite consequence analyses, the Korea Atomic Energy Research Institute is conducting model optimization studies to minimize the analysis time while maintaining the accuracy of the results. A previous study developed a model optimization method using efficient plume segmentation and verified its effectiveness. In this study, we investigated the possibility of optimizing the model through particle size distribution setting by checking the reduction in analysis time and deviation of the results. Our findings indicate that particle size distribution setting affects the results, but its effect on analysis time is insignificant. Therefore, it is advantageous to set the particle size distribution as fine as possible. Furthermore, we evaluated the effect of multithreading and confirmed its efficiency. Future optimization studies should be conducted on various input factors of offsite consequence analysis, such as spatial grid settings.
In order to study spatial variability of soil chemical properties across the land-partitioned boundary on Hwadong silt clay loam soil (Fine clayey, mixed, mesic family of Aquic Hapludalfs) in the experimental fie ld of the wheat and Barley Research Institute in Suwon, all measured data were analyzed by means of kriging, fractile diagram, smooth frequency distribution, and autocorrelation. Sampling for soil chemical property analysis was made at 225 intersections of 15x 15 grid with 10m interval from three soil depths (0-10cm, 25-35cm, 50-60cm) in the seven patitioned fields. 1. The coefficient of variance (CV) of various chemical properties varied from 5.4 to 72.7%. Soil pH was classified into the low variation group with CV smaller than 10%, while the other chemical properties belonged to the medium variation group with C.V. between 10 and 100% 2. The approximate number of soil samples for the determination of various chemical properties with error smaller than 10% were two for pH, ten for CEC, 15 for exchangeable Ca, 32 for total nitrogen content, 39 for exchangeable Mg, 40 for exchangeable K, 61 for exchangeable Na, 82 for organic matter content, 212 for available phosphate,. 3. Smooth frequency distribution and fractile diagram showed that available phosphate was in log-normal distribution while others were in normal distribution. 4. Serial correlation analysis revaled that the soil chemical properties had spatial dependence between two nearest neighbouring grid points. Autocorrelation analysis of chemcial properties measured between the serial grid points in the direction of south to north following land-partitioned boundary showed that the zone of influence showing stationarity ranged from 20 to 50m. In the direction of east to west accross land-partitioned boundary, the autocorrelogram of many chemical properies showed peaks with the periodic interval of 30m, which were similar to the partitioned land width. This reveals that the land-partitioned boundary causes soil variability.
Thermal mixing by steam jets in a pool is dominantly influenced by a turbulent water jet generated by the condensing steam jets, and the proper prediction of this turbulent jet behavior is critical for the pool mixing analysis. A turbulent jet flow induced by a steam jet discharged through a vertical upward single hole into a subcooled water pool was subjected to computational fluid dynamics (CFD) analysis. Based on the small-scale test data derived under a horizontal steam discharging condition, this analysis was performed to validate a CFD method of analysis previously developed for condensing jet-induced pool mixing phenomena. In previous validation work, the CFD results and the test data for a limited range of radial and axial directions were compared in terms of profiles of the turbulent jet velocity and temperature. Furthermore, the behavior of the turbulent jet induced by the steam jet through a horizontal single hole in a subcooled water pool failed to show the exact axisymmetric flow pattern with regards to an overall pool mixing, whereas the CFD analysis was done with an axisymmetric grid model. Therefore, another new small-scale test was conducted under a vertical upward steam discharging condition. The purpose of this test was to generate the velocity and temperature profiles of the turbulent jet by expanding the measurement ranges from the jet center to a location at about 5% of $U_m$ and 10 cm to 30 cm from the exit of the discharge nozzle. The results of the new CFD analysis show that the recommended CFD model of the high turbulent intensity of 40% for the turbulent jet and the fine mesh grid model can accurately predict the test results within an error rate of about 10%. In this work, the turbulent jet model, which is used to simply predict the temperature and velocity profiles along the axial and radial directions by means of the empirical correlations and Tollmien's theory was improved on the basis of the new test data. The results validate the CFD model of analysis. Furthermore, the turbulent jet model developed in this study can be used to analyze pool thermal mixing when an ellipsoidal steam jet is discharged under a high steam mass flux in a subcooled water pool.

Background: People's activities have been restricted due to the COVID-19 pandemic. These changes in activity patterns may lead to a decrease in fine particulate matter (PM2.5) concentrations. Additionally, the level of population exposure to PM2.5 may be changed. Objectives: This study aimed to analyze the impact of population movement and meteorological factors on the distribution of PM2.5 concentrations before and after the outbreak of COVID-19. Methods: The study area was Guro-gu in Seoul. The research period was selected as January to March 2020, a period of significant population movement changes caused by COVID-19. The evaluation of the dynamic population was conducted by calculating the absolute difference in population numbers between consecutive hours and comparing them to determine the daily average. Ambient PM2.5 concentrations were estimated for each grid using ordinary kriging in Python. For the population exposure assessment, the population-weighted average concentration was calculated by determining the indoor to outdoor population for each grid and applying the indoor to outdoor ratio to the ambient PM2.5 concentration. To assess the factors influencing changes in the ambient PM2.5 concentration, a statistical analysis was conducted, incorporating population mobility and meteorological factors. Results: Through statistical analysis, the correlation between ambient PM2.5 concentration and population movement was positive on both weekends and weekdays (r=0.71, r=0.266). The results confirmed that most of the relationships were positive, suggesting that a decrease in human activity can lead to a decrease in PM2.5 concentrations. In addition, when population-weighted concentration averages were calculated and the exposure level of the population group was compared before and after the COVID-19 outbreak, the proportion of people exceeding the air quality standard decreased by approximately 15.5%. Conclusions: Human activities can impact ambient concentrations of PM2.5, potentially altering the levels of PM2.5 exposure in the population.

The process of constructing coastal digital elevation model(DEM), for the 3 dimensional analysis, is composed by abstracting land layers for land elevation and water depth, reprojecting UTM, relocating geographical grid, and interpolating works. The geomorphic set of shallow sea, including tidal current, tidal zone deposition, and water depth distribution, was analyzed by eye search of Landsat TM image, masking of land zone, band combination and regression analysis. Some horizontal differences, between combined DEM and surveyed data of shallow sea, was corrected for analysis. Analyzed geomorphic elements are stream channel, alluvial fan, coastal terrace, tidal current. and shallow sea bank. Results of analysis present that transported fluvial materials influence tidal sedimentation, especially from Gahwacheon river, for the role of artificial draining flooding waters from Jinyang Reservoir, almost in the summer season. In the coastal area with less tidal current, more fine materials are deposited. The influence of currental deposition are higher on small pockets with west coast of well developed terraces. The lower skirt of alluvial fans developed into the tidal zone of shallow sea. Small pocket type bays are closed by coastal current, and less influenced from tidal deposition. The bank of Jinju Bay are developed originally from submerging of remnant erosional mountain ranges, and play on the role of trapping fine materials.
