점용접 조건에 의한 연강의 미세조직 및 기계적특성에 관한 연구 (The Study on Microstructures and Mechanical Properties of Mild Steel Joined with Various Spot Welding Conditions)

  • Spot welding, namely a kind of electric resisting welding has been used widely in field of automobile and aircraft industries because of easiness to apply. Specimens used in this study was a mild steel of 1.2mm thickness and the electrode was a Cu-Cr alloy of 6mm diameter. The surface sheared of specimens after testing of tensile shear was observed by SEM(scanning electron microscope) after ultrasonic cleaning for 10min., and microstructures and grain size of all specimens were measured with using of O.M.(Optical microscope). By the means of measurement and observations of tensile shear load, fatigue strength and share surface, the weldability of spot welding was evaluated. When tensile shearing testing, fracture starting point in all specimens was took place at the bond between HAZ(Heat affected zone) and nugget. With increasing in number of layers, fatigue strength was decreased. With increasing in electric current, grain size in the HAZ became more fine.

A Brief Overview of a Scale Independent Deformation Theory and Application to Diagnosis of Deformational Status of Solid-State Materials

  • A field theoretical approach to deformation and fracture of solid-state material is outlined, and its application to diagnosis of deformational status of metal specimens is discussed. Being based on a fundamental physical principle known as local symmetry, this approach is intrinsically scale independent, and capable of describing all stages of deformation on the same theoretical foundation. This capability enables us to derive criteria that can be used to diagnose transitions from the elastic to plastic regime, and the plastic to fracturing regime. For practical applications of these criteria, an optical interferometric technique known as electronic speckle-pattern interferometry is proved to be quite powerful; it is able to visualize the criteria as a whole image of the object on a real-time basis without numerical processing. It is demonstrated that this method is able to reveal loading hysteresis as well.

BWIM Using Measured Acceleration and Strain Data

  • A new BWIM(bridge weigh-in-motion) algorithm using both measured strain and acceleration data is proposed. To consider the effects of bridge vibration on the estimation of moving loads, the dynamic governing equation is applied with the known stiffness and mass properties but damping is ignored. Dynamic displacements are computed indirectly from the measured strains using the beam theory and accelerations are measured directly by accelerometers. To convert a unit moving load to its equivalent nodal force, a transformation matrix is determined. The incompleteness in the measured responses is considered in developing the algorithm. To examine the proposed BWIM algorithm, simulation studies, laboratory experiments and field tests were carried. In the simulation study, effects of measurement noise and estimation error in the vehicle speed on the results were investigated.

현장 잔존긴장력 평가를 통한 리프트오프 시험 방법 개선 (Improvement of Lift-off Tests via Field Evaluation of Residual Load in Ground Anchor)

  • 현재 국내에서는 비탈면의 안정성 확보를 위해 그라운드 앵커공법을 적용하고 있다. 그라운드 앵커는 시간이 지남에 따라 노후화 및 환경적 영향에 의한 부식, 릴렉세이션, 크립 등으로 긴장력 감소현상이 발생하며, 이로 인해 앵커의 긴장력은 설계앵커력 이하로 감소할 가능성을 내포하고 있다. 이에 국내에서는 정기적인 점검 시 또는 이상 징후가 발생한 앵커를 대상으로 리프트오프 시험을 수행하여 앵커의 잔존긴장력을 확인하고 있으나, 현재 국내 리프트오프 시험기준(국토해양부, 2010)은 수행 및 평가방법이 자세히 명시되어 있지 않은 실정이다. 이에 본 연구에서는 선행연구들을 바탕으로 하중 재하 제하 사이클, 하중 증분방법, 긴장재 긴장 방법 등을 고려하여 리프트오프 시험을 수행하였으며 현장에서의 시공성과 시간적 제한을 고려하여 효율적인 리프트오프 시험 및 평가방법 개선안을 제시하였다.

  • This paper is concerned with the development of a measurement system using field measuring device which will give the membrane stress of the membrane structures. Up to this point, several techniques on measurement of membrane stresses has been proposed and some have been used in the fields, but accuracy of the measured stresses to be far from reliable one. Such situation has not been changed until recent days, we do not have the measurement device on which we can depend. On top of that, due to the different properties in cross directions for material of the membrane, the stress in the warp direction is different from that in the fill one. A new method is proposed to measured membrane stresses in two different direction separately, where instead of membrane stresses directly, an external force perpendicular to the membrane to be applied. A portable device can measure the applied force and the displacement. A special testing bed to be fabricated to accommodate $50cm{\times}50$ manbrane specimen which can apply 5 ton load in two orthogonal direction. A special device using push-pull gage was developed. To measure the membrane stresses in warp and fill direction separately, a different length of the tips are used. The measuring device which can called tension meter, can be calibrated on the testing bed, and optimized the length and shape of tip.

현장부설시험구간에서의 장기계측을 통한 토목섬유 보강효과 (A Study on Reinforcement Effectiveness for Railway Soft Roadbed through Long-Term Instrumentation on the Field Test)

  • In this study, geotextiles was applied on the selected track-bed, which is relatively economical and efficient way to prevent the problem of mud-pumping and settlement. Field testing sections from Mock-haeng to Dong-ryang in the Chung-La lines in Korea were selected to investigate the state of track and roadbed. And three places were chosen among 1,700 spots where mud-pumping was frequently occurred and maintenance required. At the curved section with radius of 500m between Mock-haeng and Dong-ryang, we divided this testing site into 5 section and 4 different types of geotextile were installed and left the last section with no reinforcement. Total length of the test site was 200m and individual length of each site was 40 m. In order to understand the state and the strength of prepared roadbed, stiffness and physical properties of the roadbed soil were evaluated and analyzed. Also, after the installation, mud-pumping, settlement of elastic or plastic sleeper, failure of track, wheel-loads, lateral force and earth pressures were investigated.

Dynamic assessment of a FRP suspension footbridge through field testing and finite element modelling

  • The use of advanced fibre composite materials in bridge engineering offers alternative solutions to structural problems compared to traditional construction materials. Advanced composite or fibre reinforced polymer (FRP) materials have high strength to weight ratios, which can be especially beneficial where dead load or material handling considerations govern a design. However, the reduced weight and stiffness of FRP footbridges results in generally poorer dynamic performance, and vibration serviceability is likely to govern their design to avoid the footbridge being "too lively". This study investigates the dynamic behaviour of the 51.3 m span Wilcott FRP suspension footbridge. The assessment is performed through a combination of field testing and finite element analysis, and the measured performance of the bridge is being used to calibrate the model through an updating procedure. The resulting updated model allowed detailed interpretation of the results. It showed that non-structural members such as the parapets can influence the dynamic behaviour of slender, lightweight footbridges, and consequently their contribution must be included during the dynamic assessment of a structure. The test data showed that the FRP footbridge is prone to pedestrian induced vibrations, although the measured response levels were lower than limits specified in relevant standards.

체이동 매듭과 추가적인 반 매듭 증가에 따른 매듭의 장력 변화와 최적 유지력 (Sliding Knots and the Effect of Additional Half-Hitch Knots on Optimal Knot-Holding Capacity)

  • 목적: 잠김(Locking)이 가능한 이동 매듭의 (sliding knot) 최적 매듭 유지력 (knot-holdingcapacity KHC)을 가지기 위한 추가적인 반 매듭의 (additional half-hitches) 개수를 알아보고자 하였다. 대상 및 방법: 4가지의 관절경적 이동 매듭법 (Duncan매듭법, Field 매듭법, Giant매듭법, SMC매듭법)을 대상으로 매듭 유지력을 실험하였다. 각각의 매듭을 만들기 위해 처음의 이동 매듭과 추가적인 5개의 반 매듭으로 구성된 6개의 연속적인 매듭을 만들었다. 각각의 추가된 반 매듭은 서로 교차하며 매듭의 지대 (post)도 교차하여 매는 방식으로 (reversing half-hitches with alternate posts, RHAPS) 하였다. 각각의 연속적인 매듭을 구성하기위해 No.2 Ethibond봉합사를 이용하여 각각의 매듭 형태에 12개의 매듭을 만들었다. 매듭의 인장 및 유지력 실험은 servohydraulic material testing system(Instron 8511, MTS, Minneapolis, MN)으로 주기적 부하(cyclic loading)를 시켜, 임상적으로 실패라 규정한 3 mm의 전위가 생길 때까지의 부하 (load to clinical failure). 매듭이 완전히 실패했을 때의 부하 강도 (load to ultimate failure), 그리고 실패 형태 (mode of failure)를 측정하였다. 결과: 추가적인 반 매듭이 없는 최초의 이동 매듭 자체로는 대부분 주기적 부하에 의해 매듭의 실패를 보였다. 주기적 부하 검사에서 각각의 추가적인 반 매듭이 증가할수록 평균 전위 값은 감소하였다. SMC 매듭법과 Giant 매듭법은 하나의 추가적인 반 매듭 이후로 0.1 mm이하의 전위 값을 보였고 Field와 Duncan 매듭법은 3개의 추가 반매듭이 필요하였다. SMC 매듭법과 Duncan 매듭법은 80 N을 견디기 위해 단 하나의 추가 반 매듭이 필요하였고, Field와 Giant 매듭법은 2개의 추가 반 매듭이 필요하였다. 100 N이상의 부하를 견디기 위해서는 SMC 매듭법은 3개의 추가 반 매듭이 필요하였고, 다른 3가지의 매듭법은 4개의 추가 반 매듭이 필요하였다. 추가 반 매듭이 증가함에 따라 봉합사는 풀리는 것보다 끊어지는 양상을 보였다. Duncan매듭법은 5개의 추가 반 매듭 이후에도 풀림현상을 보였고, 다른 3개의 매듭법은 3개의 추가 반 매듭 이후엔 75%이상이 봉합사의 풀림 현상보다는 끊어지는 양상을 보였다. (SMC, Field 매듭법은 92%, Ciant 매듭법은 75%)결론: 어떤 매듭법이라도 이동 매듭법 만으로는 주기적 부하 검사를 견디지 못했다. 모든 종류의 실험에서 SMC 매듭법은 최소2개의 두개의 추가 반 매듭이 필요하였다. Duncan 매듭법은 최적 매듭 유지력을 위해 3개 이상의 추가 반 매듭이 필요하였다. 모든 매듭법에서 3개나 그 이상의 추가 반 매듭이 최적 유지력에서 정점에 가까운 양상을 보였다.

트랙터 부착형 양파수확기의 작업 속도에 따른 견인 부하와 구조 안정성에 관한 실험적 연구 (Experimental Study on the Drawbar Pull and Structural Safety of an Onion Harvester Attached to a Tractor)

  • Recently, due to labor shortages in rural areas within South Korea, the demand for upland-field machinery is growing. In addition, there is a lack of development of systematic performance testing of upland-field machinery. Thus, this study examined structural safety and drawbar pull based on soil properties, as a first step for systematic performance testing on the test bed. First, the properties of soil samples from 10 spots within the experimental site were examined. Second, the strain was measured and converted into stress on 8 points of an onion harvester that are likely to fail. More specifically, the chosen parts are linked to the power, along with the drawbar pull, using a 6-component load cell equipped between the tractor and the onion harvester. The water content of the soil ranged between 5.7%-7.5%, and the strength between 250-1171 kPa. The test soil was subsequently classified into loam soil based on the size distribution ratio of the sieved soil. The onion harvester can be considered as structurally safe based on the derived safety factor and the drawbar pull of 115-1194 kgf, according to the working speed based on agricultural fieldwork.

격벽화된 파이프 트러스 요소로 구성된 경량방음터널의 구조적 성능 평가 (Assessment of Structural Performance for a Lightweight Soundproof Tunnel Composed of Partitioned Pipe Truss Members)

  • In this paper, the full-size structural performance test for a lightweight soundproof tunnel composed of partitioned pipe truss members is carried out to investigate the structural performance. In addition, a nonlinear structural analysis of the same finite element model as the full-size testing model is performed to compare the test result. The test and analysis results showed that the lightweight soundproof tunnel ensures the structural safety against wind loads, snow loads and load combinations. As a result, the full-size test and analysis results meet all the design load conditions, hence the proposed lightweight soundproof tunnel is ready for the field application.
