  • In this paper, we propose a cost-aware Rapidly-exploring Random Tree (RRT) path planning algorithm for mobile robots. A mobile robot is presented with a cost map of the field of interest and assigned to move from one location to another. As a robot moves, the robot is penalized by the cost at its current location according to the cost map. The overall cost of the robot is determined by the trajectory of the robot. The goal of the proposed cost-aware RRT algorithm is to find a trajectory with the minimal cost. The cost map of the field can represent environmental parameters, such as temperature, humidity, chemical concentration, wireless signal strength, and stealthiness. For example, if the cost map represents packet drop rates at different locations, the minimum cost path between two locations is the path with the best possible communication, which is desirable when a robot operates under the environment with weak wireless signals. The proposed cost-aware RRT algorithm extends the basic RRT algorithm by considering the cost map when extending a motion segment. We show that the proposed algorithm gives an outstanding performance compared to the basic RRT method. We also demonstrate that the use of rejection sampling can give better results through extensive simulation.

  • The study aims to identify the role of transformational leadership toward work performance through intrinsic motivation in pharmaceutical field by a survey of 220 pharmacists in Vietnam. The pharmaceutical industry in Vietnam is experiencing rapid growth, accompanied by the need for a change in leadership for managers. The transformational leadership creates a proactive, positive attitude, passion, interest or an increase in intrinsic motivation of employees, thereby affecting work performance. This study performed reliable verification by Cronbach's Alpha coefficient, then the factors are analyzed by EFA before conducting multivariate regression analysis. The results showed that the transformational leadership style includes such factors as: idealized influence (attributed and behavior), inspirational motivation, intellectual stimulation, individualized consideration have a positive impact on intrinsic motivation and thereby positively affecting work performance. It confirms that employees will have a higher intrinsic motivation level when working under transformational leadership from their leaders. It makes employees work more efficiently. According to the research results, the pharmacist has an intrinsic motivation to work hard on tasks that contribute to the group overall goal of. That requires managers to have a task assignment strategy to connect the goals of the members together as well as of the members to the group.

  • In this paper, a shaped small-size ADE(Axially Displaced Ellipse) reflector antenna of 30 cm in diameter operating from 37 to 40 GHz was designed. The experimental antenna was manufactured, and the radiation characteristics evaluated. In the procedure of antenna design, aperture field distribution was assumed to uniform + parabolic distribution. And the variations of beam width, aperture efficiency, and sidelobe level as functions of aperture field distributions were investigated, and these results presented to be used in antenna design. The measured gain and sidelobe level of experimental antenna were found 39.9 dBi(efficiency : 61.9%) and -18.8 dB for 40 GHz. These values show good agreement in design goal of efficiency more than 60% and sidelobe level less than -20 dB.

  • The significant additional path loss is caused by scattering, diffraction, and attenuation of propagation. Most of the wave propagation models for rural areas mainly have considered the influence of topography but ignored the effects due to land usage. The goal of this paper is development of the field strength prediction program for Cheju which is used the contour map and the effects due to land usage. In oder to classify the propagation path and divide the environment of land, data of the terrain and the land-cover are formed into a pixel. Two-ray model is transformed into equivalent model by the predicted reflection coefficient and the slope of terrain. For non line of sight, the additional loss is determined by quantitative analysis. The result show good accord and the wave propagation model program can be applied to predicted the service region in rural area of Cheju.

  • This paper describes a new type of replaceable fuse for moment resisting frames. Column-tree connections with beam splice connections are frequently preferred in the moment resisting frames since they eliminate field welding and provide good quality. In the column-tree connections, a part of the beam is welded to the column in the shop and the rest of the beam is bolted with the splice connection in the field. In this study, a replaceable reduced beam section (R-RBS) connection is proposed in order to eliminate welding process and facilitate assembly at the site. In the proposed R-RBS connection, one end is connected by a beam splice connection to the beam and the other end is connected by a bolted end-plate connection to the column. More importantly is that the proposed R-RBS connection allows the replacement of the damaged R-RBS easily right after an earthquake. Pursuant to this goal, experimental and numerical studies have been undertaken to investigate the performance of the R-RBS connection. An experimental study on the RBS connection was used to substantiate the numerical model using ABAQUS, a commercially available finite element software. Additionally, five different finite element models were developed to conduct a parametric study. The results of the analysis were compared in terms of the moment and energy absorption capacities, PEEQ, rupture and tri-axiality indexes. The design process as well as the optimum dimensions of the R-RBS connections are presented. It was also demonstrated that the proposed R-RBS connection satisfies AISC criteria based on the nonlinear finite element analysis results.

The goal of this research is to construct a basis for the time management education framework in architectural field in the future. This research mainly focuses on following questions based on limited objectives: Do groups of academics and professionals have understanding and knowledge of time management? Can the level of an individual's scheduling techniques be correlated to the patterns of knowledge and understanding of time management principles and practices? Can the time management practice status in individual's working environment be correlated to the patterns of knowledge and understanding of time management principles and practices? Can an individual's self-confidence level be correlated to the patterns of knowledge and understanding of time management principles and practices? Data have been collected through comprehensive questionnaires given to academics and professionals in United States. By means of statistical analysis, the hidden patterns, deficiencies and relationships in attitudes about time management have been revealed. • The aim of this dissertation is establishing internal indicator list for achieving policy goal of Carbon Neutrality Green City. First of all, it started to construct the basic system of planning indicator based on through comprehension of current studies such as advanced researches, government guidelines and green building certifications. And then it was set up final indicator list through inspecting FGI (Focus Group Interview), Verification of suitability, and Analysis of importance). As a result of this research, the planning indicator divided three steps and there were classified four fields in the top-level; Green Land and Ecology, Green Energy, Green Resource and Transportation, Green Living and Institution. According to the data, it deducted four items (ratio of green land, site plan, heat island and management of climate, base of nature ecology) and twelve index in the field of green land and ecology, three item(energy conservation and self-supporting, energy efficiency, new regeneration energy) and twelve index in the field of green energy and regeneration, five items(water resources utilize and circulation, other resource reduction and circulation, public transportation, green transportation plan) and fifteen index. Totally, Planning Indicators of forty nine were deducted. Therefore, there was the result of importance analysis that the indicators of plan and maintain management as the side of space for carbon neutrality were more appreciated than carbon reduction of individual building.

  • This paper presents optimal design of controllable magnetorheological(MR) shock absorbers for passenger vehicle. In order to achieve this goal, two MR shock absorbers (one for front suspension; one for rear suspension) are designed using an optimization methodology based on design specifications for a commercial passenger vehicle. The optimization problem is to find optimal geometric dimensions of the magnetic circuits for the front and rear MR shock absorbers in order to improve the performance such as damping force as an objective function. The first order optimization method using commercial finite element method(FEM) software is adopted for the constrained optimization algorithm. After manufacturing the MR shock absorbers with optimally obtained design parameters, their field-dependent damping forces are experimentally evaluated and compared with those of conventional shock absorbers. In addition, vibration control performances of the full-vehicle installed with the proposed MR shock absorbers are evaluated under bump road condition and obstacle avoidance test.
