Model predictive control combined with iterative learning control for nonlinear batch processes

  • A control algorithm is proposed for nonlinear multi-input multi-output(MIMO) batch processes by combining quadratic iterative learning control(Q-ILC) with model predictive control(MPC). Both controls are designed based on output feedback and Kalman filter is incorporated for state estimation. Novelty of the proposed algorithm lies in the facts that, unlike feedback-only control, unknown sustained disturbances which are repeated over batches can be completely rejected and asymptotically perfect tracking is possible for zero random disturbance case even with uncertain process model.

  • This paper describes a control system design for the transmission STATCON by applying a non-linear feedback. A mathematical model for the STATCON was derived by using a 3-phase equivalent circuit and its controller was designed by a numerical computation. The verification of newly designed controller was performed by EMTP simulation and scaled hardware model test. The test results show that the controller using non-linear feedback skim controls its reactive power properly without large transients.

  • In this paper, a novel control strategy for PWM current source converter and inverter is proposed, applying a multivariable state feedback control. The PWM converter controls line current to be sinusoidal and make input power factor unity. In addition, the modulation index control of dc link current is carried out, which produces lower loss of switching devices. Since the voltage control of inverter output filter capacitor is performed a decoupling of the d-q current of the induction motor is well retained. With the proposed algorithm, both high dynamic responses and satisfactory static performance can obtained.

  • We propose a design method that uses H$_{\infty}$ optimization method to suppress oscillation of a shaft between motor and load for high precision (0.001 % of reference input) position controls. PI speed control loop was introduced as a minor loop. Standard problem is used for the modeling of the system and Glover-Doyle's algorithm is used for the optimization in the H$_{\infty}$ space. Friction is considered to be an important factor that makes it difficult for the system to reach steady state in short time. In this paper, we propose a hybrid controller that includes PI speed feedback loop, which is expected to have a role to reject torque disturbance like friction.n.n.

  • A nonlinear tracking control technique developed for the control of nonlinear systems has been applied to the autopilot design of missile system. The difficulties in the application of inversion based control methods such as input-output feedback linearization and sliding mode control due to nonminimum phase characteristics are discussed. To avoid the stability problem associated with unstable zero dynamics, the input-output feedback linearization is applied with output-redefinition method to normal acceleration control. The output-redefinition method gives an indirect way to apply the nonlinear controls to nonminimum phase plants by redefining the plant output such that the tracking control of the modified output ensures the asymptotic tracking of the original output. The numerical simulation shows satisfactory results both for nominal and for slightly perturbed missile systems adopting the sliding mode control technique. However, the robustness problem in this method is briefly investigated and verified with the simulation.

  • This paper presents a visual feedback system that controls a micromanipulator using multiple microscopic vision information. The micromanipulation stations basically have optical microscope. However the single field-of-view of optical microscope essentially limits the workspace of the micromanipulator and low dept-of-field makes it difficult to handle 3D-shaped micro objects. The system consists of a stereoscopic microscope, three CCD cameras, the micromanipulator and personal computer. The use of stereoscopic microscope which has long working distance and high depth-of-field with selective field-of-view improves the recognizability of 3D-shaped micro objects and provides a method for overcoming several essential limitations in micromanipulation.   • 본 논문에서는 시스템 파라미터가 불확실한 일련의 연속시간 대규모 선청 시스템을 안정화하는 문제가 다루어졌다. 제안된 비집중 적응 제어기는 새로운 적웅궤환 제어와 기존의 선형궤환 제어를 결합한 형태로서, 전체 케루프 시스템의 안정을 보장하기 위한 충분조건이 유도되었다. 또, 제안된 방식의 유용성을 보이기 위하여 컴퓨터 모사를 통한 수치예가 제시 되었다.

  • ATM네트워크상의 ABR서비스는 네트워크 상에서 예약형 서비스가 사용하고 남은 대역폭을 활용하여 데이터를 전송하는 방식으로 제어정보를 전송하는 피드백 매커니즘을 사용하여 네트워크상의 정체를 제어한다. 본 논문에서는 ATM네트워크 상에서 효율적인 정체 제어를 위하여 ABR 트래픽 서비스의 전송률 제어 방식인 EFCI와 ER방식의 장점을 결합하여 네트워크 정체 상태에 따른 적응적인 제어방식을 제안한다. 시뮬레이션을 통하여 제안된 제어방식의 주기적인 특성과 전송된 셀의 양을 분석 제시한다.

최적선형 추적법에 의한 부하-주파수제어 (Load Frequency Control by Optimal Linear Tracking)

  • This paper presents a load frequency control by optimal linear tracking, which can be well adapted to practical power systems with successive load disturbances. Conventional Load Frequency Controls (LEC's) have a feedback control scheme of the state error deviated from the post-disturbance steady state. This requires the modification of reference everytime the system encounters load changes. In this study, a new feedback scheme of LEC is developed by using the optimal linear tracking method with a fixed reference. As a result, the proposed LFC, which requires no reference modification, can be efficiently applied to power systems with successive disturbances such as load changes due to the on-off operations of reclosers or feeder switches. Another feature of the proposed LFC is that it adopts an algorithm to calculate an optimal post-fault steady state with the consideration of control input changes. The proposed LFC has been tested for a 2-area power system, which shows that it can be well adapted to successive load disturbances with good frequency response.

  • Measurement of network traffic have shown that the self-similarity is a ubiquitous phenomenon spanning across diverse network environments. In previous work, we have explored the feasibility of exploiting the long-range correlation structure in a self-similar traffic for the congestion control. We have advanced the framework of the multiple time scale congestion control and showed its effectiveness at enhancing performance for the rate-based feedback control. Our contribution is threefold. First, we define a modular extension of the TCP-a function called with a simple interface-that applies to various flavours of the TCP-e.g., Tahoe, Reno, Vegas and show that it significantly improves performance. Second, we show that a multiple time scale TCP endows the underlying feedback control with proactivity by bridging the uncertainty gap associated with reactive controls which is exacerbated by the high delay-bandwidth product in broadband wide area networks. Third, we investigate the influence of the three traffic control dimensions-tracking ability, connection duration, and fairness-on performance.
