아버지의 일·가정양립 유형과 일·가정양립 양상 (Fathers' work-family reconciliation type and its characteristics)

  • This study focuses on changes in a father's role from one that is work-centered to a work-family balance, analyzing the type of father's work-family reconciliation and to compare the differences among the types. An online survey was conducted with 1,037 fathers of school-aged children. The survey subjects were assigned to a ratio of 1:2:1:1 for fathers who have a child in kindergarten, elementary school, middle school and high school. The fathers' work-family reconciliation type was a variable composed of three categories: work-centered, family-centered, and work-family centered. In the research model of this study, the fathers' work-family reconciliation type was influenced by family characteristics(the age of first child, the number of children, dual earner, and spouse support) and work characteristics(weekly working hours, work flexibility, and leaving work on time). We analyzed characteristics of work-family reconciliation through housework time, child care time, leisure time, family meals, and time spend talking with their children. The results showed that father's work-family reconciliation type was significantly different according to the characteristics such as first child age and spouse support, work characteristics such as weekly working hours and leaving work on time. The time distribution differed significantly depending on the father's work-family reconciliation type. Therefore, a fathers' work-family reconciliation can be considered typified by the interaction of family and work characteristics. This study suggests policy implications for supporting fathers' work-family reconciliation.

아버지의 유아기 자녀양육 참여 (Fathers′ Involvement on Their Infant Care)

  • This study examines the father involvement during the infancy period. In order to explore the influence of the father's characteristics, the infant's characteristics and the contextual sources of stress and support on reports of father-infant interaction and paternal responsibility 500 fathers are studied. Results show that fathers in this sample are not regularly involved in the caretaking and the play tasks. The caretaking tasks are most significantly associated with fathers' emotional reaction while indirectly with the first baby, the difficult baby, and the marital satisfaction. The play tasks differ somewhat by their work hours and the marital satisfaction.

저출산 대응: 가족내 자녀양육지원강화 (The Reinforcement for Policy to Support Child Care Work in Family as the Coping Strategy for Low Fertility Society)

  • 여성의 경제활동참여증가, 생활수준향상 및 가족유지비용증가, 개인적가치우선의 현상에 따라 최근 저출산현상이 더욱 심화되었으며, 이에 대한 사회적 비용 급증을 우려하여 전반적인 대응전략을 마련된 것이 바로 저출산고령사회기본계획이다. 1차에 이은 2차 기본계획은 일반가족의 양육지원과 종합적인 일가정양립지원 강화가 주요 핵심으로 이는 비단 정책뿐아니라 전방위적으로 사회전반에 걸친 변화가 수반되어야 가능한 일이다. 이 논문에서는 이러한 저출산대응정책의 실제사례를 살펴보기 위해 가족과 지역사회내 돌봄지원정책을 살펴 보았다. 가족내 자녀양육지원사업으로서 아이돌봄지원사업과 가족내 돌봄나눔에 있어 핵심요인인 남성의 자녀양육참여를 촉진하기 위한 남성대상교육, 그리고 지역내에서 가족 돌봄나눔을 실천할 수 있는 가족품앗이와 공동육아나눔터 운영을 통해 향후 저출산 정책에서 강조하고 있는 일반가족의 자녀양육지원 방향에 대한 해법을 제시하고 있다.

육아휴직을 경험한 아버지의 부모역할 전환에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Transition of the Parental Role of Fathers Who Experienced Parental Leave)

  • Objective: The purpose of this study is to explore the parental role that men experience during parental leave. From the moment when a man decides to take parental leave, to his experiences during parental leave, and to the father's role that lasts until after reinstatement, this course will be examined. Methods: The subjects of this study were five fathers who were taking parental leave. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews done on Zoom, telephone calls and e-mail. Results: The results are as follows. First, the motive for the father's decision to take parental leave was that he wanted to take a break from work and to spend time with his children. Second, the father had experiences of a caregiver and secure-base for his ones. Also, he experienced intergenerational transmission of his parental role. Third, the father's role was maintained even after parental leave. Conclusion/Implications: The decision to take parental leave was a process of conformation of one's own decision. The parental role of the father was experienced through daily life and interaction with his children. And that continued even after parental leave.

부모.부성휴가를 통해본 남성 돌봄 노동참여 지원정책 비교 : 경제협력개발기구 15개국을 중심으로 (The Level of Supporting Fathers' Care Work in 15 OECD Countries and its Implications for Korean Family Policy)

  • 본 연구는 남성 돌봄 노동참여 지원정책을 통해 경제협력개발기구 국가들을 유형화함으로써 세 가지 주목할 만한 결과를 도출하였다. 첫째, 남성 돌봄 노동참여 정책의 지원수준과 전통적 주 생계부양자 모형의 강도를 통해 OECD 15개국을 5개의 유형으로 구분하였다. 이러한 유형화는 탈상품화를 중심으로 복지체제를 유명화한 주류 복지국가의 분석과 달리 남성의 노동력의 가족화와 탈상품화를 준거로 분석했을 때 새로운 유형화의 가능성을 제시하였다는 점이다. 둘째, 합계출산율, 여성의 경제활동 참가율 지표에서 남성의 돌봄 노동참여 지원 수준이 높고, 전통적 주 생계부양자가구의 비율이 낮은 국가군일수록 합계출산율과 여성의 경제활동 참가율이 높은 것으로 나타났다. 셋째, 한국의 남성에 대한 돌봄 노동참여 지원 정책의 수준은 OECD 국가 중 가장 낮은 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 돌봄 노동에 대한 낮은 수준의 성간 공유가 결국 한국 여성의 낮은 경제활동 참가율, 저출산 현상을 설명하는 하나의 주요한 요인이 될 수 있다는 것이다.

다자녀의 부모로 살아가기: 세 자녀 부모의 다자녀 양육에 대한 생각과 역할 형성 (Construction of Thoughts and Roles of Parents with Multiple Children)

  • The purpose of this study is to provide diverse points of view to understand the low fertility issue of Korean society. For this phenomenological qualitative study, in-depth interviews were conducted with 14 married couples(28 persons) all raising three children. Participants were asked about overall family and work life, child care role performance, thoughts about child rearing, and their sociocultural context. Interview data were explored based on 6 analyzing steps offered by S, J, Talyor and R. Bogdan(1984). Most participants of this study were formed positive perceptions about having three children. Parents' positive perception was closely related with their attitude of not worrying too much about their children's future as well as child caring contexts around them. Parents' perception about having three children was also linked with their child care role construction process. In detail, parents with more positive perceptions tended to increase their level of child care involvement. This was particularly true for fathers. Mother and father's job situation emerged as an important factor to shape their child care involvement. In addition, child care attitude of people around them explained father's child care involvement. Applying these qualitative results, we first expect to provide detailed ideas about lives with three children in Korea. Second, based on our study findings, a more realistic and helpful policy to help the low fertility problem could be developed. Lastly, we also hope to provide helpful phenomenological qualitative research about low fertility issues of Korea.

남성의 시장노동과 가사노동 - 신문기사 내용에 대한 질적 분석을 중심으로 (Men's Participation of the Market Work and the Housework - Focused on the Qualitative Analysis of the Contents in the Newspaper Articles)

  • The purpose of this study was to understand the labor division between men's housework and market work and to research the change of men's contribution to housework. And it was also examined what kinds of valuables work on a change in men's market work and housework. The information about men's change in the labor division was collected from the biggest 5 news papers in Korea for last five years for this study. And either men's new participation trend to household work did. Words searched for this study were men, labor, family, home, housewife, work, household work, father etc. Korean men have experienced a overloaded breadwinner role and have worked most in the world since 1960s. But Korean men's working time was continuously decreased a little every year. As Korean Companies had fired many worker during IMP economic crisis period, Korean men had to work more than before because of decreased fellows and they should have concentrated on their work at the sacrifice of private life and family-sharing time. On the other hand, some men were started to participate to do housework as a results of long-unemployment and early retirement after this periods. 5 day working system be in forced gradually since 2003 especially make men come back home and interest on housework. So Korean men's housework participation is gradually increasing by the practical application of sex-equitable politics such as 5 day working system and men's suspension regime for baby care. father's increased participation to children education and care, men's new family-oriented life style, dual-sexuality education system, and socially changed perception to husband housemaker. These interrelated trends demands us to shape a new labor division pattern in the family that make change the breadwinner/homemaker conception by the gender role. Now, all of family, men, women, and children have to join housework. It would help women, men, and all families make more human and equitable relationship.

가정과 교과서에 나타난 아버지 역할의 변화 (A Study on the Change in the Representation of Father Involvement in Home Economics Textbook)

  • 본 연구는 양성평등사회가 진행되는 과정에서 가정과 교과서에 제시된 아버지 역할이 어떻게 변화해 왔는지를 파악하여, 양성평등 관점에서 아버지 역할의 기준 마련을 위한 기초 자료를 제공하는 데 그 목적이 있다. 이를 위해, 가정과 교과서 본문과 사진 및 삽화에 나타난 아버지 역할을 검토하였다. 이를 위해, 제1차부터 2007 개정까지의 교육과정에 기초하여 집필된 고등학교 가정과 교과서 총34권을 분석 대상으로, 교과서 본문과 보충자료, 그리고 사진 및 삽화에 대한 내용분석과 계량분석을 하였다. 이를 통해 얻어진 결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 첫째, 제1차~3차 교육과정에 기초한 가정과 교과서에서는 전통적 아버지의 역할만 서술되고 있었으며, 사진과 삽화에서도 구체적인 아버지의 역할은 보이지 않았다. 둘째, 제4차~5차 교육과정에 기초한 가정과 교과서에서는 가사 분담을 하는 아버지의 모습이 등장하는 등 아버지 역할에 변화가 시작되었다. 셋째, 제6차 교육과정에 기초한 교과서에서의 아버지는 자녀 양육의 공동책임자로, 육아와 가사 분담에 보다 적극적인 역할이 제시되고 있었다. 넷째, 제7차~2007 개정 교육과정에 기초한 가정과 교과서에의 아버지는 양육의 역할이 강조되어 제시되고 있었다. 특히, 양성평등사회를 더욱 지향하기 위해 아버지의 가사, 일 우선 사고의 시정, 양성평등 관련 내용 등 다양한 내용이 제시되었다. 이상의 결과를 통해, 가정과 교과서에서는 양성평등 관련 내용이나 양성평등 관점의 아버지 역할 내용 서술은 꾸준히 증가되고 있음을 알 수 있었다. 그러나 여전히 가정 내 아버지 역할에서 성 역할 분업의 혼재, 사회 요구에 대해 임시방편적인 반응 모습 등 문제점이 남아 있었다. 이의 개선을 위해 가정과교육 전공자 및 가족생활교육 전공자의 공론의 장이 마련될 필요가 있다.

영아기 자녀를 둔 아버지의 양육스트레스에 영향을 미치는 변인 탐색 (Exploring Variables Effecting Parental Stress of Fathers with Infants)

  • Objective: The study aims to examine fathers' parental stress and the variables effecting parental stress of fathers with infants. Methods: One hundred seventeen fathers with 0 to 2 year-olds were recruited from daycare centers in Daejeon metropolitan city. The Korean version of the Parenting Stress Index Short Form (K-PSI-SF) by Lee, Jung, Park and Kim(2008), The Korean Occupational Stress Scale-Short Form (Koss-SF) by Jang and Ko(2005), and the Revised-Kansas Marital Satisfaction Scale(RKMSS) by Chung (2004) were used to measure fathers'parental stress, occupational stress, and marital satisfaction. Results: First, the most influential variable that affected father's parental stress was their marital satisfaction. The fathers felt less parental stress when they felt higher marital satisfaction. Second, fathers felt less parental stress when their occupational environments were family friendly. Conclusion/Implications: Ways to improve mariatal satisfacation and a family friendly evironment at work should be sought out in order to lessen the parental stress of fathers raising infants.

부모의 미취학자녀 돌봄시간 관련요인 변화와 가족정책에의 함의 (Change in Factors Associated with Parental Time Spent on Care of Preschoolers and its Implication for Family Policy)

  • This study attempted to assess the durability of the trend in increasing childcare time and to get some clues based on research findings to make efficient policy interventions in case there is a need to continue or reverse course for such trend. In doing so, a total of 9,668 diaries from the 2004, 2009, and 2014 Korean Time Use Survey were analyzed targeting parents with a preschooler as their eldest child. Parental time was regressed on parents' weekly work hours, mother's relative income, parents' education and gender role attitudes. Furthermore, increase in parental childcare time was decomposed into parts that were attributable to differences in the means and slopes of associated factors. Analytic results revealed that; parents' weekly work hours were associated with time spent on childcare from 2004 to 2014; the negative relationship between mother's relative earnings and her childcare time in 2004 and 2009 was reversed to a positive one in 2014; parent's education had stronger positive effects on father's than on mother's childcare time; parents' gender role attitudes had a weak association with childcare time; social and cultural changes such as decrease in work hours, higher education, more egalitarian gender role attitudes, and rise in women's wages contributed to the increase in parental childcare time, but in a different way for mothers and fathers. By taking into account the social and cultural context behind the changes, this study is able to provide a more constructive implications for childcare policy in Korea.
