  • This study analyzed the influence of social distance and visual information on consumers' fashion style preferences in terms of information characteristics and providers. Data were collected from 521 females in their twenties and thirties who had experience using SNS. The empirical study results were as follows. First, with other factors of exposure under control, the social distance of information characteristics and providers showed a significant impact on fashion style preferences only when social distances were close. Second, the impact of social distance varied depending on the consumer's characteristics. This proved that innovation had significant negative influences, while conformity and informational sensitivity to others showed positive influences on the effects of social distance in terms of information characteristics. Innovation and fashion leadership also showed a negative influence on the social distance effect in terms of information providers. Third, conformity, informational sensitivity to others, and fashion leadership, proved to have a significant impact on the acceptance of eWOM in fashion styles, but innovativeness and normative sensitivity to others did not have a significant influence. This study can be used as baseline data in SNS marketing strategies for vitalizing information spread through eWOM.

  • The application of Big Data has been introduced to the Korean fashion industry; however, the literature has not yet investigated how well high technologies are being perceived and adopted by the practitioners of fashion companies. Recognizing the lack of research, the current research explores how big data analysis has been adopted by fashion practitioners based on the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) that considers the effect of organizational characteristics (i.e., innovation, slack, and IS infra maturity). First, all TAM relationships were accepted as significant; however, the effect of perceived ease of use on the attitude toward big data was greater than perceived usefulness. Regarding organizational characteristics, while organization innovation had positive impacts on perceived usefulness as well as perceived ease of use, organization slack did not show significant and positive influence on perceived ease of use only. On the other hand, IS infra maturity had a negative effect on perceived usefulness while it did not have any significant impact on perceived ease of use. Finally, the level of perceived usefulness is decreasing as the IS infra of the fashion organization becomes more mature. With the results, the study suggested that fashion industry needs more education on the usage of big data analysis systems and development in related analysis tools.

  • This study analyzes global fashion clusters to provide insight for the domestic fashion market to form a competitive fashion cluster. We examine formation factors and operation types of the global fashion clusters to understand their characteristics. We also explore the effectiveness of each global fashion cluster by investigating the stage of development in fashion clusters. Fourteen cases of global fashion clusters are collected and analyzed. First, global fashion clusters show three types of formation and operation: self-formation, self-formation & government based development, and government, institute, and enterprise based formation & development. Second, the characteristics of global fashion clusters are based on functions related to space, learning, innovation, network, and knowledge. Third, there are four steps in the development stage of global fashion clusters: professional clusters, industrial clusters, learning clusters and innovative industrial clusters. In particular, innovative industrial clusters, the final stage of development, have high levels of effectiveness in terms of co-growth and collaboration among fashion-related businesses in fashion clusters. The results of this study can help guide the development of local fashion cluster in Korea.

  • SCM as the important marketing strategy enhance the firm's efficiency and compatibility in global market environment such as global outsourcing. Firms adopted SCM realized the need to evaluate precisely the performance of SCM. In spite of importance of SCM, there was not much intention and research to measure SCM performance in textile fashion industry. Therefore, the purpose of this case study was to measure performance of supply chain management in textile fashion business using BSC(Balanced Score Card) to measure not only financial perspective but also non-financial perspectives such as customer perspective, internal business perspectives, financial perspective, and innovation & learning perspective. The questionnaire developed by the reviews of the literature was adopted for this study. The results of this study showed that SCM performance was enhanced from the point of customer perspective(cost, quality, time, service), financial perspective(cash cycle time, inventory turn over, inventory obsolescence, return on asset, return on investment, capacity utilization), and innovation & learning perspective(cost for human resource management, service for human resources). But there was same performance level regarding internal business perspective(lead time, cost for manufacturing process, product quality control, productive flexibility for time, quantity, and variety). Therefore, we should keep close relationship and two way communication among supply chain members to promote better SCM performance.
