The results of this study are as follows: First, as it has the feature of historicality, the designs can be created by containing the designer's story, story of materials, and consumer's story. Second, since it has the characteristic of sustainability, the application of manufacturing process and materials, extension of product life, conversion of original material's function, etc. can be sustainable. Third, as it's a trait of scarcity, all products may be produced by hand, and it can have the specialty which the original materials have. Fourth, since it has an eco-friendly trait, even while saving the original materials, the aesthetic needs could be met according to the consumers' continuous demand.
This study establishes a fashion theory frame to forecast future fashion cycles of pants through analyzing past fashion cycles of pants through a diachronic method. Pants pictures from 1967-2012, post-industrialized period of Korea were analyzed. Representative pant styles, fashion cycles of pants and the relation of pant styles, length and width were identified. The total of 1006 pictures in fashion magazine published over 46 years were selected and analyzed using PASW 18.0 (statistical program). The results are as follows. For 46 years, representative pant styles were skinny, regular and bell-bottom. The first cycle period was from 1969 to 1992 and lasted 24 years. The second cycle period was from 1993 to 2003 and lasted 11 years. The third cycle is ongoing as of 2004. Fashion cycles have shown a general trend to be shortened. Fashion trend cycles of skirt length decreased for 10 years and the fashion cycle showed a trend to shorten. Skirt length & stock index related negatively and skirt length & skirt width related positively. All relations revealed significant results. Finally, the 'Hemline Index' theory of George (1926) was verified. Fashion marketers can develop successful and suitable products using a fashion cycle theory based on the results of this study.

An eco-CMF design process is vital to the sustainable development of fashion products concerning both emotional and physical quality factors, thus extending the use phase of the product life cycle. Life cycle assessment (LCA) is widely used in other fields to evaluate environmental impact; However, the method is rarely adopted in fashion. While cooperating with design, technology, and the users, reflecting the CMF design process is an excellent approach to the sustainable development of fashion products. Moreover, it is likely to evoke favorable reactions in users toward products. Therefore, this study aimed to review the sustainable design strategies associated with CMF in the fashion industry. Using a systematic review, 135 papers that met the inclusion criteria were examined from peer-reviewed journal articles published between 1990 and 2022. They contained specific design processes or tools relevant to eco-CMF design. The search used the Web of Science database. After a rigorous search, the final six peer-reviewed journal articles were selected and underwent thorough content reviews. Then, the CMF design tools and frameworks for eco-design featured in the articles were carefully reviewed and analyzed. Finally, we proposed practical guidelines for the sustainable development of eco-CMF design in the fashion industry. The study outcomes revealed the need for concrete eco-CMF design processes, particularly for fashion products. Furthermore, more active research involving eco-CMF design processes for the sustainable environmental impact of fashion products is required.
This study explored the process by which consumers purchase products from small fashion business owners via online and mobile channels. In addition, group types were classified given that the purchasing process depends on the consumers' life cycle. The consumer focus group interview (FGI) was conducted on 18 participants that were divided into six groups by age, work, and children. Results revealed that first, consumer journey comprised four stages. Factors influencing need recognition were "attention to information of social media influencer," "attention to information of affiliated groups," and "repeated advertising of SME products/brands." For information searching, "exploring purchase reviews," "environment for mobile shopping information exploration," and "continuous product tracking" were important factors. Purchasing and shopping stages were affected by "price-free, improvised purchase decision" and "convenient mobile payment system and point benefits." After the purchase, "active sharing and repeated purchase when satisfied" and "blocking relationships when dissatisfied" occurred. Second, six consumer groups based on the fashion life cycle are the "Platform lover," "Influencer follower," "Trust builder," "Novelty seeker," "Convenience seeker," and "New designer supporter." Ultimately, small business owners can develop the process of planning and selling fashion products more efficiently.
Brands have their own life cycles and exert a great influence on the marketing activities of companies. This study examines the marketing activities according to a brand life cycle and measures the scope of their performances. The research divides a fashion brand life cycle into three stages through the analysis of secondary data, and validates the causal relationship between marketing activities, brand equity, and consumer behavior according to the brand life cycle. A total of 573 responses were analyzed through a factor analysis, path analysis, and paired t-test with SPSS 12.0. The results are as follows: According to the analysis of the relationship between marketing mix and brand equity, distribution strategies are effective at the introduction/growth stage and the continuation stage. Advertisement strategies should be a main focus at the maturity stage for brand awareness. Throughout all the stages, product strategies wield the greatest influence on the brand image. Among brand equity components, the brand image has an influence on consumer behavior at every stage of the cycle while the brand awareness has no significant effect on consumer behavior. The marketing mix component that has the greatest impact on consumer behavior is product. Contrary to general expectations, price has a negative or insignificant effect on consumer behavior at every stage of the cycle. The results illustrated in this study help to understand the life cycle of fashion brands and characteristics different from consumer goods. Thus, fashion companies should identify at which stage their brands are positioned and develop different strategies to fit each stage.
