The purpose of the study focuses on the agriculture education services in the changing rural areas conditions such as population decline, aging society, and returning farmers. The study reviews the effects of agricultural education services on returning farmers and local residents for satisfaction, intention for recommendation, and intention to continue participation. Further, the study aims to investigate any difference in the level of satisfaction for two groups. The results suggested that there is a meaningful difference between return-farmers and local residents. Among the demographic variables, age and income showed a notable difference. However, sex, level of education and type of household did not suggest noticeable differences. In addition, the study accessed agricultural education from a service perspective and analyzed its service quality and customer satisfaction, loyalty and relationship using a service profit chain model. Like the result of most other studies, the analysis showed that these had positive relationships. While the study focused on the efficiency of agriculture education training program in agriculture technology centers, the study carries a meaningful value in that it discovered a meaningful difference in the satisfaction level between returning farmers and locals despite the fact that agriculture education was applied as a part of service. In practical terms, the study pointed out the need for consumer-centered education that reflects the characteristics of the groups rather than standardized education.
This study aims to investigate the farmer's educational performances Influencing educational satisfaction. A survey was used to collect data from 588 farmers to the country extension office. The results of the analysis are as follows. The variables that have a significant effect on satisfaction in this study are as follows. interaction between instructors and farmers, passion of instructors, effectiveness of lectures, educational support, and educational facilities. However, the adequacy of the lecture and the diversity of the contents of education did not explain the satisfaction variable. Discussions on the improvement of farmers' education were made by considering the rejected variables. In conclusion, farmers' education in the field should secure educational diversity. And farmer's education in RDA should develop a new curriculum. Farmer's education in RDA should further strengthen the informal learning.
The purpose of this study is to look at the development and status of Danish Agricultural Advisory Service (DAAS) and to find some implications on Korean agricultural and rural extension. Agriculture is main industry contributed to economic growth in Denmark. Main factors of this success would be strong farmers' organizations, commercial co-operatives, farmers' active participation in training and education, and independent advisory service owned and managed by farmers. DAAS has unique developmental history. First service was started by local farmer's organization in 1871. Farmers themselves wanted to start advisory service in order to improve the quality of butter. National center of DAAS was established in 1971 in order to disseminate knowledge to local centers, to develop new activities and computer programs, and to deliver in-service training of local advisors. In 2010, one national center with 550 employees and 32 local centers with 2,900 employes are serving for 48,000 farms. The service covers almost all farmers' needs such as production, finance, tax, buildings, crops, livestock, organic production, environment, legal matter. DAAS Academy tries to offer relevant, just-in-time training activities in order to develop the competences of advisors effectively.
The Extension Program accountability will continue to be an influential force to develop agriculture and rural area. As we incorporate new approaches into our service program and respond to new domains of knowledge, we must also consider how our assessment strategies may need to change in order to meet local and other external standards. The main purpose of the study was to be what the best way of Extension Service is set farmers' educational needs met and to be what kind of methodologies and role of Extension system should provide for their faced problem solving effectively. The major results of the study on Farmers' needs toward Korean Extension Services are summarized as follows. First, it is observed that, when the farmers' perceptions were analyzed, the most ranked by the farmers' needs was "having nice extension workers to get advice and solve their problems on the farm in all at once." Farmers had especially more positive attitudes in the categories of interest and careers in ag-technology. To do services level up, the headquarter of Rural Development of Administration must be work with local branches to effectively deliver their missions and educational objectives to target crops and farmers group. And farmers were strongly needed "a specialized service team will be organized" to work closely with operating services for ag-products processing, packing and marketing. The recommendations were made by: farmers' needs should be identified and announced by computer networking development to solve their problems faster. Also, provincial and county level service members should have a chance to working at research institute or related work places with their incentives, which system will be easer to meet farmers' needs and deal with their problems so that the systematic approaches should be managed and recorded their educational attendings, education contents and even their farming corporations. Finally, Agricultural Extension Service should be met to general ag-technology literacy and be balanced with knowledge of other industries and be competitive service with better values in non-agricultural sectors.
The objectives of this study were finding out some methods about development of oversea agriculture in Korea. It is a tough task that faces us now. China is a big agricultural country, most agricultural investment country and the nearest located in Korea. So this study researches on the quality of farmers and characters of rural human resources in China. In China, agriculture industry is the basic industry among national economy developments. The majority of populations in China are living in rural region. Agriculture, villages and farmers are main issues in China. From this point, An analysis of Chinese farmers' characters and qualities; general conditions of farmers' knowledge of science and technology, their education level, quality of minds and sprit, and rural public health service situation in China. The result of this study is following; First, Chinese farmers' factors that low education level, big cultural differences between cities and country sides affect the development of China's agriculture as obstruction factors. Second, Practice conditions of farmers' science knowledge and technology are low level, output of higher rural human resources, low quality of minds and sprit and problems of agricultural extension service. It is negative influenced of agriculture and farmers economic development in China. Third, unsociable culture of the peasantry influences Chinese farming in the negative ways. Also, conventional notions of family are getting weaker, it makes connection of the kinship weaken. But, Chinese think that this kind of kinship is the most important thing in their life. Fourth, in the case of situations that the farmer's sanitation and health, low level of the medical service is getting worse than before relatively. And there are a lot of discordances between a planned childbirth policy and personal recognitions. Also, lacking of nourishment makes labor productivity falling tendencies. The medical industry falls short of the standard as compared to the number of farming people. Fifth, in the peasantry's consciousness of the legal system, this causes difficulties to farmers in the market. Shortage of the legal knowledge exerts a bad influence upon rural economy.
The objectives of this study were 1) to review the developmental process of agricultural extension services since 1960 in Korea, and 2) to suggest new paradigm of agricultural extension education in the 21st century. The study suggested major objectives of agricultural extension service in Korea should be focused on; 1) Agricultural technology transfer for environmentally friendly food production, 2) Diffusion of energy saving and safe farming technologies and upbringing export oriented agriculture, 3) Education and training of capable farmers for competitive world, and 4) Technological support for home improvement considering harmony of human, environment and life. To achieve major objectives of extension services the following strategies should be employed; 1) National administration and financing. 2) Farmer oriented services should be performed since extension education is originally two-way communication process to help farmers in better decision making, 3) Human resource development for extension educators to meet increasing demands of target population, and policy measures should be implemented to increase morale of extension educators, and 4) Role of public extension should be strengthened to meet needs of majority farmers and public interests in the knowledge based information society in the 21st century.
Purpose: The purpose of this study is to suggest a implication and improvement which can provide direction when proposing prospective housing policies which comply the peculiar and changing needs of rural communities. Method: Accordingly this study reviewed for rural housing regulations and policies that appear in the process of developing Japanese Excellent Rural Housing. According to the case study, municipal organizations have implemented independent housing programs base on the Promotion of Rural Residence Act for returning farmers. Result: They provide service to provide returning farmers comprehensive counseling and information about employment, child-rearing and education, housing, and etc. The service program is run by a cooperative way. In addition the Japanese Excellent Rural Housing projects nowadays focus on promoting voluntary establishments of local communities by providing comprehensive plans for local community formation and interaction for harmony between existing residents and returning farmers. In the case of Korea, targeting existing residents and returning farmers for settlement environment in rural areas need jobs, child care, education, and comprehensive housing counseling. In addition, this suggests the need for linkages between the various community programs and residents.
Various government-based consulting techniques are being adapted to increase competitive power and to achieve management innovation of Korean farms. These business consulting services are offered by free or paid consulting. This study focuses on what socio-economic characteristics are affecting farmers' intension of adapting consulting services, based on 169 surveyed data from Chunchungnam-do. Logit Model is used to identify the relationship between the probability of consulting intent and factors representing farm characteristics. The model was applied on each of free and paid consulting. According to the results, degree of consulting recognition, age, education, raised crop are significant factors affecting farmers' intension of adapting consulting service in the case of free consulting at 10% of significance level. In the case of paid consulting, level of farming, age, income, insufficiency of farming, and education were identified as significant factors. In terms of elasticity of each variable, most variables for free consulting service are inelastic to consulting intent, whereas age, level of farming, and education are elastic for paid consulting service. Overall results implies that more public relations are required to activate free consulting services for the farms with moderate level of farming. In the case of paid consulting, it is effective to adapt consulting services for younger farms with higher level of farming and education.
Taiwan has plural agricultural education system and has accelerated its social and economic growth through Agricultural Extension Education. This study has been carried out centering around the work plans which analyzed the project of cultivating young farmers supported by the Republic of China Government. Taiwan has promoted administrative and financial support systems with the government as the central figure in order to equip the efficient and continuous development system of agricultural human resources for securing agricultural skilled personnel, developing farmers' organizations and cultivating young farmers that can cope with the open world. The main training programs are for developing farmers' organizations and they are as follows. 1) The Agricultural Production and Marketing Group(APMG) 2) Expert Farming Training Program for Rural Youth 3) Agricultural Extension Service Worker Training Program 4) Rural Youth Development Program 5) School 4-H Club Activities for Student Development Program 6) International Rural Youth Exchange Program Development 7) Agricultural Extension Education Program for Minority People 8) Job Change Training Program for Rural People The training programs are organized for all the rural residents and students to develop their individual careers systematically and continuously, and they are very encouraging in whole development. Also they offer us many suggestions.
The purposes of this study are to explain and identify the frame of structural relations of learning orientation, self-efficacy, learning transfer and job performance of farmers who participated in the strong and small farms education. This is an experimental research with the data collected from 495 farmers who have taken the farm education. Based on the collected data, the study conducted a structural equation modeling(SEM) to confirm the validity and analyze the structural relations of the suggested model. Using measured and latent variables drew from the analyses, the study set a structural equation model and tested the model by analysis of the structural equation modeling with AMOS 18.0. The results found from the empirical analysis can be summarized as follows. 1) Learning orientation and self-efficacy positively influenced job performance through learning transfer. 2) The hypothesis that learning orientation would have direct impact on job performance was not supported. 3) The strong and small farms education is useful to expand learning transfer and to enhance job performance. So, government policy support has to reinforce learning support on farmers in order to achieve high performance of learning and job management through farm educations.
