  • This study investigated Post-Occupancy Evaluation (POE) of cherry blossom trails 'Cherry Road' in Daegu Catholic Univ. campus, at Gyeonsan-city, Korea. The evaluation focused on image preference and satisfaction of users i.e., students, using questionnaire surveys. A total 201 questionnaire samples were analyzed and most of the respondents were in the age group of 20. Frequency analysis was conducted on demographics, use behavior, reliability, and means. Factor analysis and multiple regression analysis were conducted for user satisfaction and image preference. Over 80% of visitors came with companions during daytime. The most common motives for use were strolling and walking, event and meeting, passing. For user satisfaction the mean scores were highest for landscape beauty (4.22), image improvement (4.14), campus image (4.08). Night lighting facility received the lowest score (3.32). Factor analysis concerning user satisfaction was categorized into environment-human behavior and physical factors. Multiple regression analysis showed that the overall satisfaction of user was significantly influenced by five independent variables: 'harmonious' (β=.214), 'night lighting facility' (β=.173), 'landscape beauty' (β=.208), 'lawn care' (β=.154), and 'walking trails' (β=.123). The mean scores of image variables were highest for 'beautiful' (5.81), 'bright' (5.67), and 'open' (5.64). The lowest scores was for 'quiet' (4.47). Exploratory factor analysis led to three factors being categorized: aesthetics, comforts, and simplicity. Result of multiple regression analysis indicated that the preference of space image was significantly influenced by five variables: 'bright' (β=.397), 'refreshing' (β=.211), 'cool' (β=.219), 'clean' (β=.182), and 'natural' (β=.-142). Hence, Cherry Road has a high level of user satisfaction and image evaluation, which is interpreted as having various cultural events and value for students on campus. To improve the satisfaction of Cherry Road in the future, it is necessary to secure night lighting, to manage trash cans, and to secure rest space.

  • This study was conducted to investigate the satisfaction of school dietitians with foodservice facilities and utilities in the Chonbuk area of Korea. Self-administered questionnaires were collected from a total of 22 dietitians. Statistical data analysis was completed using the SPSS v. 10.0 program. The results are summarized as follows. Among the 222 school foodservice systems, 68.5% of the schools prepared meals the conventional way and 31.5% prepared them the commissary way. Most of the school foodservice facilities were located on the first floor. Satisfaction with the location of the foodservice facility was not significantly different between the conventional and commissary systems. However, overall dietitian satisfaction with the foodservice facility locations was poor. Approximately 30% of the dietitians responded that one of the most important problems for foodservice management was the limited space and worn-out equipments in the kitchens. For dietitians' satisfaction on the types of facilities present, most schools had constructed dietitian offices, food storage facilities, cafeterias, rest rooms, dressing rooms, and preparation facilities. Yet, the amenities most often missing were storage facilities, preparation facilities, dressing rooms, rest rooms, etc. For overall satisfaction with the status of facilities and utilities, we found no significant differences between dietitians in the conventional(2.89) and commissary foodservice systems(2.86); however, the satisfaction level among the dietitians was poor. Therefore, governmental regulation agencies need to review and approve plans prior to the new construction or extensive remodeling of school foodservice facilities. Finally, content analysis was also conducted regarding the dietitians' opinions on foodservice facilities and utilities.

  • This research analyzed and compared the public library satisfaction level between South Korea and USA public library user. This research looked at the public library user's nominal complains to the library from various countries and analyzed the impact variance of customer satisfaction level by using four key factors(faculty, facility, online service, books). The results were, first, overall customer satisfaction level of USA average(m=3.91) was higher then South Korea average(m=3.08) with a difference of m=0.83. Second, in the outcome of the survey conducted in South Korea, all four key factors were strongly related to customer satisfaction level, whereas the survey conducted in the USA, only two key factors showed relation to the customer satisfaction level which were facility and online service. Lastly, In the survey conducted in South Korea, out of the four key factors, Faculty(${\beta}$=.838) and online service(${\beta}$=.496) were the only two key factors that influenced the customer satisfaction level. In the survey conducted in the USA, Facility(${\beta}$=.441) and online service(${\beta}$=.471) were the two key factors that influenced customer satisfaction level. Therefore, South Korea should invest in increasing online service and educating faculty service as well as managing more intensively in software type field policies.

The field survey was analyzed the current situations by conducting a housing managers' interview and viewing a blueprint of the community center. The questionnaire survey was tested by examining five different apartment complexes of over 500 households in Gwang-ju, which were all built between 2005 and 2007, 268 users were interviewed for the questionnaire survey. After all the questionnaires were collected, the data was coded and analyzed using the SPSS 12.0 program. Statistics used from data analysis were frequencies, means, standard deviations, one-way ANOVA, t-test, and correlation analysis. To conclusion, the satisfaction and usage of community facilities and programs shows higher for the indoor exercise/sports; such as, yoga, golf, and health programs than others. There is no strong correlation between the location and layout of community facility in apartment complex. However, this study could be a reference data when planning a new community center where plans to have community facilities and programs to satisfy its future users.

  • Recently, attention has been drawn to a new form of a public library, that is, a public library in a complex facility constructed in the same building or site with another facility. To get active users' or local governments' supports in the public library in a complex facility, it is necessary to build library strategic plans based on the analysis of users' evaluation and demands. Thus, this study analyzed the user satisfaction and perception of the 28 public libraries in complex facilities in Seoul. As a result, it was found that most users overall satisfied with public libraries in complex facilities in terms of human resources, information resources, and the links among services and positively perceived their environments and services. In order to provide more satisfaction to the users in public libraries in complex facilities first, it is necessary to improve the accessibility of libraries, to secure the sufficient library space, to prevent the outside noise, to link the facilities which bring mutual synergistic effect, and to develop a program and service accompanying other facilities.

  • The purpose of this study is to find out apartment residents' consciousness and needs of their community facility by age group as to provide basic data for future community facility planning. For this study, 12 national rental apartment complexes in the Seoul Metropolitan area were selected, and the residents of diverse age groups were surveyed including children, adolescents, adults, and elders regarding their attitude, satisfaction, and necessity of using the community space, and their requests for programs and locations of the community space. As for the analysis method, statistical software, SPSS for Windows 14.0, was used, and total of 891 questionnaires were analyzed for the survey. The findings of this study are as follows. 1) As to major activities in national rental apartment community facilities, older residents tended to show more interest in health, while younger residents tended to show more interest in leisure. 2) The residents' satisfaction about community facilities was the highest among children, and was the lowest among adults in general. Particularly, the facilities that were designed for specific age groups of users showed high satisfaction among users. Therefore, community facilities need to be planned in consideration of each age group of users. 3) Residents' requests for community facilities, in general, were found more among adults and elders than among children and adolescents. Elders made requests for the green environment, and adults made requests for facilities for family uses. 4) As to the results of surveying the requests about community facility programs, children, adolescents, and adults all made requests for programs regarding leisure activities. However, elders made requests for programs related to health or communication with neighbors. Therefore, the purposes and requests of using community facilities need to be identified precisely and then plan them accordingly and effectively.
