Beat Frequency Switchable Dual-mode External cavity laser (비트 주파수를 스위칭할 수 있는 듀얼 모드 외부 공진기 레이저)

  • We demonstrate a beat frequency-Switchable dual-mode external cavity laser hybrid integrated on planar lightwave circuit with an FP-LD and a sampled grating as external reflector. The dual-mode external avity laser was able to switch its beat frequency from 132GHz to 406GHz by changing LD current from 50mA to 55mA.

  • It is observed that an appreciable short-circuit current (Is) flows by the time variation of temperature without applying external field in M1(metal)-P(polymer)-M2(metal)system. In M1-P-M2(A1) system, Is flows in the direction from the electrode(A1) having a lower workfunction to the counter electrode(M1) during heating and its magnitude increases as the thickness of polymer is decreased and as the heating rate is raised. The sign of Is is reversed in lower temperature region (under glass transition temperature) when the direction of temerature variation is changed during heating and cooling. From these experimental results, we can sugest that Is flows in the external short-circuit during the space charge distribution formed around both interfacial surfaces (M1-P and P-M2) is continuously maintained in the non-equilibrium state but not in equilibrium state.

  • Very compact 4-channel 200-GHz-spacing external cavity lasers (ECLs) were fabricated by hybrid integration of reflection gratings and superluminescent laser diodes on a planar lightwave circuit chip. The fifth-order gratings as reflection gratings were formed using a conventional contact-mask photo-lithography process to achieve low-cost fabrication. The lasing wavelength of the fabricated ECLs matched the ITU grid with an accuracy of ${\pm}0.1$ nm, and optical powers were more than 0.4 mW at the injection current of 80 mA for all channels. The ECLs showed single mode operations with more than 30 dB side lobe suppression.

  • This paper describes a design of the external-exciting electronic ballast for 100W high pressure sodium lamp. The ballast is consists of the full-bridge inverter and an external-exciting control circuit. L and C values of an equivalent L-C series resonant circuit are calculated analytically. The electrical output characteristics of the ballast, such as voltage, current etc., are simulated by Pspice. The experimental results from high pressure sodium lamp system with the ballast we developed are shown to be consistent with the simulated results.

  • The distributed power conversion LED driver circuit using parasitic inductance is proposed in this paper. while the conventional LED driver circuit is composed of the large size devices and heatsinks, the proposed circuit can be realized with the small sized no heatsink based. since the processing power can be effectively distributed. Also by using the wire parasitic inductance of the LED string, the proposed circuit can be implemented without external magnetic device. As a result, the proposed circuit which features the small size and volume con be realized even without LED driver module(LDM) board. since, all the device can be attached to the existing LED array Module(LAM) board. Therefore, it features that cost savings and volume reduction of circuit. To confirm the validity of the proposed circuit, theoretical analysis and experimental results from a distributed power conversion LED driver circuit prototype are presented.

  • An integrable circuit technique for implementing high-speed analog two-input Max/Min circuit is described. The realization method is suitable for fabrication using CMOS technology. The proposed circuit comprises a current mirror and electronic switch connected with a absolute value circuit. The maximum or minimum operation of the proposed circuit can be selected by an external control voltage. The proposed analog Max/Min circuit has a very sharp transfer characteristic and is suitable for real-time systems. Simulation results verified the circuit performances are agreed with the expected values.

  • This paper deals with the coupled electromagnetic-mechanical field analysis for short-circuit electromagnetic force of the dry-type transformer. The short-circuit currents are calculated using external circuit in accordance with short-circuit test equipment. According to short-circuit current, the generated magnetic leakage flux density in dry-type transformer model is calculated by finite element method. The radially-directed electromagnetic forces in windings are calculated using electromagnetic field analysis and then axially-directed electromagnetic forces in windings are calculated using electromagnetic-mechanical field analysis. The calculated axially-directed electromagnetic forces in high voltage winding are compared to those of measured ones and showed good agreement with experimental results.

  • In this paper, we studied on the short-circuit process, surface structure, and component variation of vinyl cords. In the results of high speed imaging system (HSIS) analysis, as soon as wire covering was damaged by heat, the conductor of wire came in contact with the other conduct of wire, and the short-circuit occurred. Stereomicroscope and SEM analysis indicated that the source part of wire showed V-type form. The molten beads of load part were bigger than those of source part. In the results of EDX analysis, Cu and O were detected in the source part, whereas covering material (Cl, Ca), Cu and O were detected in the load part. The results will help us to find out the cause of electrical fire.

  • In this paper, we inverstigated how a parricular internal inverter circuit, which is located far from the input protection in CMOS DRAM, can be easily damaged by external ESD stress, while the protection circuit remains intact. It is shown in a mega bit DRAM that the internal circuit can be safe from ESD by simply improving the input protection circuit. An inverter, which consists of a relatively small NMOSFET and a very large PMOSFET, is used to speed up DRAMs, and the small NMOSFET is vulnerable to ESD in case that the discharge current beyond the protection flows through the inverter to Vss or Vcc power lines on chip. This internal circuit damage can not be detected by only measuring input leakage currents, but by comparing the standby and on operating current before and after ESD stressing. It was esperimentally proven that the placement of parasitic bipolar transistor between input pad and power supply is very effective for ESD immunity.

  • The piezoelectric material connected to external electric networks possesses frequency dependent stiffness and loss factor which are also affected by the shunting circuit. The external electric networks are generally specialized for two shunting circuits: one is the case of a resistor alone and the other is the combination of a resistor and an inductor. For resistive shunting, the material properties exhibit frequency dependency similar to viscoelastic materials, but are much stiffer and more independent of temperature. Shunting with a resistor and inductor introduces an electrical resonance, which can change the characteristics of structural resonance optimally in a manner analogous to a PMD (proof mass damper). Passive damping enhancement of composite beam using piezoelectric material connected to external electrical networks is achieved and presented in this paper.
