This study was conducted with examinees who chose upper gastrointestinography (UGI) among those who visited the hospital for health examination in order to improve the visitors' satisfaction with services. A questionnaire survey was conducted with the examinees, and 147 examinees who visited the hospital during the two months from May 2014 participated in the survey as the subjects of pre education examination while 164 examinees who visited during the months from July 2014 participated as the subjects of post education examination. The pre education subjects were surveyed about anxiety, need of explanation, method of explanation, satisfaction with UGI, etc., and a video was prepared based on the results and provided to the post education subjects and then they were surveyed about change in anxiety, satisfaction with the explanation in the video, helpfulness of the video, intention to watch the video again, etc. In the pre education survey, the average value of anxiety was 2.62, and the need of explanation was 2.52, In addition, 78.2% of the subjects chose guide video as a method of explanation, and satisfaction with UGI was 1.55. In the post education survey, the average value of changed anxiety was 1.45, satisfaction with video explanation was 2.80, helpfulness was 2.79, and intention to watch the video again was 2.80. In the results of T-test between the pre and post education groups, they showed statistically significant in anxiety and satisfaction (p<0.05). Moreover, the findings of this study confirmed that video education and information on UGI provided in advance reduce patients' anxiety and increase their satisfaction with examination.

The purpose of this study was to identify students' conceptions and their conceptualization traits in terms of the explanation of subjects: human, animals, and plants. A questionnaire was specially developed to make sure students' conceptions of evolution, students' explanation patterns with the five evolutionary explanations: creationism, internal will explanation, theological explanations, use and disuse explanation and natural selection after mutation and perceived ideas of evolution in terms of the genetic characters of human, animals and plants. 1,540 elementary, middle and high school students participated in responding to the questions. The data was collected and analyzed cross-sectionally by age. Results showed that students' evolutionary explanations were different among each subject: human, animals and plants. Students had concentrated with more 'theological explanations' than 'internal will explanation' and 'use and disuse explanation' about plant evolution. 'Natural selection after mutation explanation' was less represented in explaining human characters. This result showed that the anthropocentric thoughts had influenced students' evolution conceptions. Accordingly, as student's age, 'theological explanation' and 'internal will explanation' became least used in explaining the theory of creation. 'Use and disuse explanation' attained more representation in their explanation. In addition, the diversity of students' evolutionary explanations was getting less attention as age increases. Among youngers, 'theological explanation', 'internal will explanation' and 'use and disuse explanation' showed an even number of responses. The elders responded with more 'use and disuse explanation'. This result let us infer that 'use and disuse explanation' was strongly adhered to by student cognitive structures. Many students recognized that evolution was a kind of scientific hypothesis with little evidence. They have had a little interest in evolution and conceptualized it through informal educational sources. This study mentions that to teach evolution more effectively, teachers should make 'use and disuse explanation' adhere strongly to students' cognitive structure.
The purpose of this study was to investigate the inpatients' perception of therapeutic-diets and of explanation about those diets provided by hospitals and satisfaction on therapeutic-diets at hospitals in Busan. The subjects consisted of 155 inpatients at five hospitals, which all had over 400 beds. The research was performed through the interviewing process using questionnaires. Seventy five percent of patients had received an explanation for their therapeutic-diet and 57.4% of respondents were given a manual that explained the reason for the therapeutic-diet. The professionals who explained the therapeutic-diet was 61.7% dietitians and 25.6% doctors. 59.4% of the patients considered the dietitian to be suitable for explaining the diet and 25.6% patients believed the doctor to be suitable for explaining the diet. In terms of the patients' perception of the therapeutic-diet explanation, 74.5% of the patients understood very well, 78.9% of them perceived this explanation as very important, and 67.5% of them were satisfied. On a scale of 5.00 for therapeutic-diet satisfaction, the average scores were 2.95 for meal characteristics and 3.06 for service characteristics. The items that scored low in therapeutic-diet satisfaction were taste, seasoning and appearance of meals, provision of selective menu and consideration of personal preference. In terms of the perception of understanding the therapeutic-diet, patients who were provided a manual and an explanation gave high scores to 'taste', 'variety of diet', 'meeting opportunity with dietitians', and 'prompt dealing with meal complications'. There was a significant (p<0.05) positive correlation between satisfaction for the explanation of the therapeutic-diet and the degree of perceived benefits of the explanation to the nutrition-management and the satisfaction on the therapeutic-diet satisfaction. Therefore, the results of this study suggest that hospitals should increase support for explaining the therapeutic-diet by dietitians and develop menus based on the patients' preference and the taste of the meal.
The purpose of this study was to investigate whether or not the physical therapist's explanation of the treatment prior to electrical stimulation affects the subjects level of anxiety. Eighty healthy subjects participated in this study and were assigned either to the experimental group receiving information on the treatment ($n_1$=40) or to the control group not receiving information on the treatment ($n_2$=40). Transcutaneus Electrical Nerve Stimulation (TENS), a sphygomamometer and the Spielberger State Anxiety Scale Questionnaire were used to investigate the threshold of anxiety. Analysis of data revealed significant differences in pulse and diastolic blood pressure compared to the control group when the subjects were stimulated electrically after receiving information on the treatment. We found significant differences between the two groups. The results of the study indicate that the patient's anxiety can be reduced by the physical therapist's explanation on the treatment.
The present study investigated what combination of three form-focused options - explicit explanation, production practice, and corrective feedback - may be effective in helping low-proficiency learners improve accuracy in communicative writing. The subjects were 34 Korean university students enrolled in 'Business English 1' and the study lasted 11 weeks. The relative clause structure was selected as the target structure. The study found that the combination of explicit explanation, sentence-level production practice, communicative writing practice, and recasts had a significantly greater effect on improved accuracy than the combination of communicative writing practice and recasts and that of explicit explanation, communicative writing practice, and recasts. Because the second and third combinations didn't lead to significantly improved accuracy, it can be concluded that of the form-focused options forming the first combination sentence-level production practice made a decisive contribution to the significant increase in accuracy. It also found that the provision of self-correcting opportunities before providing recasts on errors committed in sentence-level production practice resulted in significantly greater accuracy in communicative writing than the provision of recasts alone on them. The results of the study suggest that we should make low-proficiency Korean learners have sentence-level production practice which is intensive and focused and make them self-correct targeted errors before providing them with narrowly focused recasts in order to help them to improve writing accuracy.
This study was done to analyze the trends of research on coping in Korea, to suggest future direction, for research on coping, and ultimately to contribute to an increase in explanation of adaptation. This article reviewed 79 nursing research papers on coping done since 1978 by examining them according to the period of publication or presentation, research design, type of subjects, measurement instruments, research for a degree or not, range of reliability, and association of coping and related variables. The results are as follows : The number of studies on coping increased rapidly from the mid-1980's and decreased slowly from the mid-1990's. The maority of the studies were surveys, comparative studies, or correlational studies. The subects of the 46 studies were healthy people, while those in the remaining studies were patients with a variety of illnesses. Thirth-eight studies on coping were done for master's thesis, three for dissertion, and 38 were not degrees. The Bell and Jalowiec coping scales have not been used since the early 1990's. In contrast, Lazarus and Folkman's W.C.C.L. has been used increasingly since that time. The reliabilities of the coping scale were reported in 37 cases and the Cronbach's alpha coefficients were .71 to .86. All subjects reported using more problem-oriented coping than emotion-oriented coping in short-term or emotion-oriented coping and healthy groups did more long-term coping. It was difficult to describe consistently the relationship between stress and coping according to the type of coping scale or research subjects, but generally moderate relationships were found. This was due to instrumental problems and no consideration of situational context. The subject group who used more short-term coping and less long-term coping reported poorer mental status, and higher scores in burnout and state anxiey than others. That is, the relationship between stress and adaptation increased the power of explanation with intervening the mediating effect of coping. The association of locus of control, mastery, social support, and self-concept with coping showed positive relationships : those of uncertainty and severity in illness with coping showed negativerelationships ; those of state anxiety and depression with short-term coping were positive, and those of self-esteem with long-term coping or problem-oriented coping were negative. There were significant differences in the scores of types of coping according to religion, level of education, and socio-economic status. That is, Presbyterians and Catholics, those with higher education levels and higher socio-economic status used more long-term or problem-oriented coping. On the basis of the above findings the following recommendations are made : 1. There is a need to test the mediating effect of coping variable in order to clarify the concept. 2. Longitudinal studies are needed to determine the patterns of change in coping strategies when stressful events are encountered. 3. It's necessary to develop a reliable and variable measurement tool for coping. 4. There is a need to identify subscales of coping to increase explanation of variance 5. It's necessary to consider personal, situational, and antecedent variables : the characteristics of subject populations, the natures of illness and treatment situations. 6. The power of explanation of studies designed to identify the stress-adaptation process should be increased using the combination model of process-oriented coping and cognitive-structural model.
The purpose of this paper was to analyze the role of illustrations in elementary textbooks (3~4 grade) of the 2009 revised curriculum of science education in Korea from point of view of aim of science by applying the criteria of 5E inquiry process model for reflecting core aim of the science education. The subjects of the paper was the 105 illustrations in the earth-science domain of elementary science textbooks (3~4 grade) of the 2009 revised curriculum of science education in Korea. The analysis criterion was of two categories, the function of illustration and the role of illustration. the function of illustration was divided into three subcategories such as Exclusiveness type, correspondence type and supplementary type. The role of illustration was divide into five subcategories such as Engagement, Exploration, Explanation, Elaboration and Evaluation. According to results of the illustration analysis are as follows: the result of the function of illustration are exclusiveness type 39, correspondence type 36 and supplementary type 30, the important of point to note is that there are a lot of exclusiveness type considerably. compared with other subjects, this fact indicate character of illustration of the only science textbook. The result of the role of illustration are Engagement 14, exploration 64, explanation 25, elaboration 2 and evaluation 0. This data indicate main role of illustrations in earth-science domain is to help the students to be able to observe and explore. Cross-analysis of the function and role was a significant difference. Role of illustration was evenly distributed within Exclusiveness type on the other hand, the role of illustrations was mainly exploration and explanation in correspondence and supplementary type. Especially, illustration of exploration was mainly correspondence type.

The purpose of this study was to find the effect of molecular movement model based instruction on high school students' conceptions of diffusion and osmosis. The study was composed of two groups, the traditional instruction group in which the so-called traditional instruction was performed, and the other group in which interventions by researchers were made. The subjects of the traditional instruction group consisted of a total of 242 high school students from Seoul, Gwangju and Mokpo. The subjects of the model based instruction group consisted of 177 first-year high school students in Mokpo. The study was focused on the use of the term of 'molecular movement' in their explanation of diffusion and osmosis in the correct contexts. In general, students who got the molecular movement model based instruction showed more frequent use of the terms of 'molecular movement' in the correct contexts than the control group students did. It was found that misconceptions including teleological explanations changed into scientific explanations by the intervention. It seemed that the molecular movement model led students to make scientific explanations on natural phenomena. A further research is recommended to assess the improvement of teleological explanation and scientific attitude by the molecular movement model.

This study was to examine the concepts using to explain evaporation and boiling in secondary school science textbooks developed in 6th and 7th science curriculum. The types of explanations were compared with maps represented the concepts relationships divided into middle and high schools, 6th and 7th curriculum, and subjects and chapters to find explanation diversity. The difference of explanations related to evaporation and boiling concepts was found in the school levels and subjects. There were few relationships between the main concepts of evaporation phenomena and those of boiling phenomena.
This paper aims at the construction of the system that outputs subjective and consistent linguistic expressions of some pictures. Input to this system is information on some pictures and this system outputs explanations of basic contents of pictures and consistent connective relationships between pictures. The present system consists of the explaining part of basic contents and the explaining part of connective relationship. The former part explains behaviors and feelings of objects drawn in pictures. The latter one explains the matters not drawn in pictures by guessing them from pictures. This part considers consistency of connective relationships. From the viewpoint that the interpretation of pictures is dependent on individual subjectivity, the present system has individual database for individual subjectivity. In order to confirm the usefulness of the present approach, simulation experiments are performed. In the experiments the individual databases of subjects are constructed and the outputs of the system are evaluated. Experiment results show that good evaluation is obtained.
