The present study numerically investigates the glottal airflow characteristics as well as acoustic features of phonation fully coupled with dynamic behavior of vocal folds. The vocal folds are described by a low-dimensional body-covered model characterized by bio-mechanical parameters such as glottal width, vocal folds stiffness, and subglottal pressure. The flow in the vocal tract is modeled as an incompressible, axisymmetric form of the Navier-Stokes equations (INS), while the acoustic field is predicted by the linearized perturbed compressible equations (LPCE). The computed result shows that a two-mass model of vocal folds is sufficient to reproduce temporal variations in oral airflow and glottis motion produced by female speakers. It is also found that i) the glottal width has a significant effect on the amplitude of glottal flow, and thus on the amplitude of acoustic wave in the vocal tract, ii) the vocal fold tension is the main control parameter for the fundamental frequency of phonation, iii) the subglottal pressure plays an appreciable role on reproduction of the self-sustained oscillation of vocal folds, and iv) the strength of pulsating airflow and vortical structures are primarily affected by glottal width and subglottal pressure, and are closely related to pitch, loudness, and voice quality. Finally, more comprehensive explanation about the difference between one- and two-mass models is presented with discussion of effectiveness of vocal folds oscillation and voice quality.

The study aims to compare whether using Earnings Response Coefficient (ERC) is better than using the new concept of Accounting Earnings Response Coefficient (AERC) in determining the earnings quality response coefficient value. Also, the study seeks to explain the effect of company characteristics and corporate governance on AERC through voluntary disclosure and information asymmetry. Research samples include 69 manufacturing companies listed on the Indonesian Stock Exchange over the period 2014-2017. The data come from annual reports, stock market prices, CSPI, EPS, stock returns and market returns. The research model is tested using the structural equation model (SEM) with partial least square (PLS). The results showed the value of the earnings response coefficient produced by AERC and ERC was different. Earnings quality resulting from AERC regression by adding CFO values better reflects the actual earnings quality. These results are consistent with the concept built from the proposition about earnings quality at AERC, that quality earnings are informative accounting earnings. The theoretical findings of this study provide an explanation that operational cash flow plays a role in evaluating earnings quality, while providing reinforcement that the ERC regression model fails to detect stock market reactions to information relevant to the aggregated values of accounting earnings.
This purpose of this study was to analyze the characteristics of elementary students' argumentation in science problem solving process. For this study, the two argumentation topics were developed on the basis of Williams and Colomb's argumentation model. The topics of argumentation were the weight of the air and the change of volume according to state of water. The participants of this study were 6th grade students (n=51). Data were analyzed by Williams and Colomb's argumentation model and Kienpointner's argumentation style. The results of this study were as follows: In the argumentation model, most of students had the factors of claim, reason, evidence/data in their statements. But low-achievement students had difficulty in warrant and acknowledge & response. In argumentation style, the frequency of the cause-effect and explanation of example style were higher than other argumentation styles. Some implications were suggested, such as understanding the characteristics of elementary students' argumentation activities and need of educational programs including scientific argumentation.
In order to apply the BIM technology effectively and efficiently during the life-cycle of project, it is important to deliver a accurate information on BIM from designer, and it should be used effectively at construction or maintenance stage. However, stakeholders have created a new BIM model at each phase in many practise adopting BIM, not used BIM generated in design stage. Because they have different purposes for using BIM, and deliver the BIM model without the sufficient explanation or application. It is necessary to define the range of usable BIM in construction phase with analyzing clearly the BIM created in design phase, and determining the difference with required BIM in construction phase. Therefore, this study propose a method for construction c

In this thesis, I classified various meanings of fraction into two categories, i.e concept(rate, operator, division) and model(whole-part, measurement, allotment), and surveyed appearances which is shown in Korea elementary mathematics textbook. Based on this results, I derived several implications on learning-teaching of fraction in elementary education. Firstly, we have to pursuit a unified formation of fraction concept through a complementary advantage of various concepts and models Secondly, by clarifying the time which concepts and models of fraction are imported, we have to overcome a ambiguity or tacit usage of that. Thirdly, the present Korea's textbook need to be improved in usage of measurement model. It must be defined more explicitly and must be used in explanation of multiplication and division algorithm of fraction.
Higher efficiency and effectiveness of Research & Development phases can be attained using advanced statistical methodologies. In this work statistical methodologies are combined with a deterministic approach to engineering design. In order to show the potentiality of such integration, a simple but effective example is presented. It concerns the problem of optimising the performances of a paper helicopter. The design of this simple device is not new in quality engineering literature and has been mainly used for educational purposes. Taking full advantage of fundamental engineering knowledge, an aerodynamic model is originally formulated in order to describe the flight of the helicopter. Screening experiments were necessary to get first estimates of model parameters. Subsequently, deterministic evaluations based on this model were necessary to set up further experimental phases needed to search (or a better design. Thanks to this integration of statistical and deterministic phases, a significant performance improvement is obtained. Moreover, the engineering knowledge かms out to be developed since an explanation of the “why” of better performances, although approximate, is achieved. The final design solution is robust in a broader sense, being both validated by experimental evidence and closely examined by engineering knowledge.
Most current literature on knowledge and technology transfer(Appropriability Model, Dissemination Model, and Knowledge Utilization Model), describe the process of transfer in details, but has limitation in terms of their application in contemporary high-tech industries since most studies have not provided plausible explanation on levels and factors affecting transfer of knowledge and/or technology. To overcome these limitations, the four levels of knowledge and technology transfer are suggested: Knowledge and Technology Creation(Level I), Sharing(Level II), Implementation(Level III), and Commercialization(Level IV). Comprehensive literature identifies sixteen variables affecting the process and results of knowledge and technology transfer. The survey results show four key factors in knowledge and technology transfer: Communication, Distance, Equivocality, and Motivation, Communication refers to the degree to which a medium is able to efficiently and accurately conveys task-relevant information and media while distance involves both physical and cultural proximity. Equivocality refers to the degree of concreteness of knowledge and technology to be transferred while motivation involves incentives for and the recognition of the importance of knowledge and technology transfer activities. Further analysis shows that there are four distinctive clusters and they show very contrasting characteristics in terms of four key factors. The careful mapping of the four clusters on the four key factors show very informative knowledge and technology transfer patterns, the Knowledge and Technology Transfer Grid. Finally, actions to increase communication interactivity and motivation, and to reduce cultural distance and equivocality are suggested.

This study investigates the relationship between social capital and enterprise performance with knowledge sharing as the mediator. By employing the data of 677 respondents collected from delivering questionnaires to small and medium-size firms in Vietnam in 2020, this study suggests a two-step approach that combines exploration factor analysis (EFA), confirmatory factor analysis (CFA), and path analysis (SEM). The empirical findings significantly support our proposed model by demonstrating that knowledge sharing mediates the connection between all three elements of social capital and enterprise performance. At the same time, the results emphasize the importance of knowledge sharing as a major benefit of social capital and a substantial driving element of both operational and financial performance. The results show that all three social capital qualities (structural, relational, and cognitive) significantly impact both tacit and explicit knowledge sharing, while knowledge is one of the main routes connecting social capital to enterprise performance. Hence, our research model may be used in future studies to evaluate social capital, knowledge sharing, and firm performance as a new theoretical model. Our results offer a plausible explanation for how social capital improves knowledge sharing and enterprise performance.

Living beings are formed of advanced biological and mechanical systems which exist for millions of years. It is known that various animals and insects right from small ants to huge whales have different weight carrying capacities, which is generally expressed as a ratio of their own bodyweights i.e., Strength to Bodyweight Ratio (SBR). The puzzle is that when a rhinoceros beetle (scientific name: Dynastinae) can carry 850 times its own bodyweight, why a man cannot accomplish the same feat. There are intrinsic biological and mechanical reasons related to their capacities, as per biomechanics. Yet, there are underlining principles of engineering and structural mechanics which tend to solve this puzzle. The paper attempts to give a plausible answer for this puzzle through structural mechanics and experimental modeling techniques. It is based on the fact that smaller an animal or creature, it has larger value of weight lifting by self-weight ratio. The simple example of steel prism model discussed in this paper, show that smaller the physical model size, larger is its SBR value. To normalize this, the basic length of the model need to be considered and when multiplied with SBR, a constant is arrived. Hence, the aim of the research presented is to derive this constant on a pan-living being spectrum through size/scaling effect.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to understand morality identity, occupational stress and authentic leadership and identify factors contributing to turnover intention among intensive care unit (ICU) nurses. Methods: Data were collected from 230 nurses at the university hospitals in Daegu, Ulsan and Busan between February 15 and March 23, 2017. Instruments measuring turnover intention, moral identity, occupational stress, and authentic leadership were utilized. Statistical analysis included t-test, ANOVA, Pearson correlational analysis, and hierarchical regression analysis. Results: A total of 207 nurses in ICU participated in this study. The power of explanation with age and dependents on turnover intention was 4.1%. With inclusion of occupational stress, moral identity, and authentic leadership factors put into the model, further 20.4% was explained. The explanatory power of the turnover intention in the final model was 23.6% (F=11.63 p<.001), and occupational stress was the key factor explaining turnover intention (${\beta}=.28$, p<.001). Predictive factors contributing to turnover intention were age, occupational stress, moral identity, and authentic leadership in final model. Conclusion: These findings demonstrated occupational stress, moral identity and authentic leadership as critical factors contributing turnover intention of ICU nurses. It is necessary to promote nursing manager's authentic leadership, and to encourage moral identity in ICU nurses. In addition, providing intervention programs to reduce occupational stress for ICU nurses is necessary.
