  • Ergonomic techniques have been required to analyze the effectiveness of functional clothing design improvement in a systematic and analytic manner. The goals of the present study are to: (1) comprehensively and analytically examine the effectiveness of clothing improvement by using the relationship analysis between clothing design components (D) and ergonomic evaluation measures (E) and (2) prove the usefulness of cost-effectiveness analysis for clothing design optimization. The cost effectiveness analysis is comprised of the preliminary evaluation based on expertise and the in-depth evaluation where the D-E relationship analysis is applied. As a result of the cost effectiveness analysis applied to flame-proof clothing, an optimal design was identified by analyzing costs and qualitative/quantitative effects. In the preliminary evaluation, the expected effectiveness of each design alternative on wear efficiency and wear comfort was estimated. In the in-depth evaluation, however, the effectiveness of each design alternative was analyzed by quantitative evaluation in a wearing test using a questionnaire prepared based on the D-E relationship analysis. It was concluded that the D-E relationship analysis and the cost-effectiveness analysis are useful for comprehensive evaluation and optimization of functional clothing design.

  • Free and forced vibration analysis of the global ship structure using the 3-dimensional finite element(FE) method requires not only the specialized knowledge such as ship structure interacted with fluid, damping and various excitations due to propulsion system but also time-consuming manual tasks in FE modeling, analysis and response evaluation. As a result, the quality of the vibration analysis highly depends on engineer's expertise and experience. In this study, a framework system to improve the efficiency of global ship vibration analysis is introduced. The system promising the utilization of MSC/Patran and MSC/Nastran consists of various modules to support data management, FE modeling of ship structure and loading, input deck generation for free and forced vibration analysis, data extraction and evaluation of analysis results, and databases for FE models of marine diesel engines and vibration criteria. The system may be useful for pursuing standardization of uncertain analysis factors as well as reducing time, cost and human dependency in ship vibration analysis.

  • Recently, social network services have changed by moving towards an open platform where, as well as simply allowing the building of relationships among users, various types of information can be generated and shared. Since existing user reputation management methods evaluate user reliability based on user profiles, explicit relations, and evaluation, they are not suitable for determining user reliability on social media due to few explicit evaluation. In this paper, we analyze social activities on social media and propose a new user reputation management method that considers implicit evaluation as well as explicit evaluation. The proposed method derives positive and negative implicit evaluation from social activities, and generates user reputation information by field in order to consider user expertise. It also considers the number of users that participate in evaluation in order to measure user influence. As a result, it generates the reputation information of users who have no explicit evaluation and creates user reputation information that is more suitable for social media.

  • The number of websites in Korea is increasing rapidly as demonstrated by more than 510,000websites registered under the ".kr" domain as of the end of December 2000. In order to effectively copewith the deluge of web information and maintain ready access to useful information on the web, utilization and management of web information through websites that have been evaluated and ratedfavorably is becoming increasingly important. As websites now increasingly provide industry-specificinformation, information managers are now finding it essential to meet their specific information needsthrough separation and ranking of useful information from the rest. However, evaluation of industry-specific information requires industry-specific expertise as well asgeneral website evaluation tools. This paper develops a website evaluation model and attempts to rankindustry-specific websites through case studies of previous website evaluation and consultation withexperts in specific industries. Based on the model developed, this paper selects 100 outstanding websitesin 10 areas of construction industry. The research also hypothesizes that, with appropriate modifications, the rating models used for the construction industry can also be applied to other industries for moreefficient information management.e efficient information management.
