  • Fretting corrosion widely known as a degradation mechanism refers to the combination of fretting wear and corrosion such as oxidation. This paper critically reviews the works published previously on fretting corrosion of electrical connectors. Various experimental approaches such as testing machines, material selection, testing environments, acceleration testing techniques and preventing methods are addressed. Future research prospects are suggested.

  • We present a flexible retrieval system of face photographs based on their linguistic descriptions in terms of fuzzy perdicates. While natural for describing a face, linguistic expressions are also subjective, which affects the retrieval result. Thus, the capability of a retrieval system to adjust to different users becomes very important. In this research we use fuzzy logic techniques, for describing image data, inference for retrieval and adjustment to a new user. Experimental results of the adjustment are also included.

  • Since the concept for the ozone generation using a nonequilibrium electric discharge techniques had been proposed by Siemens, some experimental and theoretical studies on the ozone generation by streamer corona discharge, surface discharge and silent discharge have been performed. In this paper some results on the discharge characteristics of the silent discharge gap with various dielectric materials were reported. Dielectric materials used in this study were pyrex glass, quartz and glass beefs with diameter of 1 mm.

An efficient method on two-phased guillotine cutting stock (효율적인 2단계 길로틴 평면절단 방법)

  • Two-dimensional cutting stock problem is to find a waste-minimizing method of cutting a single rectangular plane into a number of smaller pieces of known dimensions. In practice, besides wastes, setup cost taken during adjusting is of an important concern. We suggest 2-phased guillotine cutting method as a solution to the problem which minimize wastes and setup costs. Also, in order to reduce the computing time we apply techniques of discretization, cutoff, median. Experimental results show good performance of our algorithm.

  • Finite element equations by using fast Fourier transformation were formulated for studying temperatures resulting from frictional heating in sliding systems. The equations include the effect of velocity of moving components. The program developed by using FFT-FEM that combines Fourier transform techniques and the finite element method, was applied to the sliding bearing system. Numerical prediction obtained by FFT-FEM was in an excellent agreement of experimental temperature measurements.

  • This paper gives the way of analyzing internal noise of rolling stocks which is urgently required by civilians. Triangular beam method among ray tracing techniques is utilized to compute noise distribution of rolling stocks. Noise source and transmisstion loss of several sections from experimental work are included in this calculation. Ray tracing technique is found useful to compute big structures like rolling stocks.

Effects of Simulation Learning Using SBAR on Clinical Judgment and Communication Skills in Undergraduate Nursing Students

  • This study aimed to determine the effects of simulation learning program using SBAR (Situation, Background, Assessment, Recommendation) techniques on undergraduate nursing students' clinical judgment and communication skills. A quasi-experimental research design (one-group pretest-posttest design) was used in this study. The participants included 88 students from a nursing college. There were statistically significant differences in clinical judgment, communication clarity, and communication confidence between pre-simulation learning using SBAR and post (t=10.32, p<.0001; t=6.05, p=<.0001; t=7.42, p=<.0001). The simulation learning program using SBAR was found to improve nursing students' clinical judgment as well as clarity and confidence in interprofessional communication.

  • This paper proposed a three-channel transformer-type power regulator to control the heater temperature by adjusting the voltage across the heater for pre-heating and the post-heating procedures of the material welding. The experimental results are carried out to verify the performance of three-channel heater temperature control for the heat treatment.
