  • The survey was conducted to analyze the consciousness of residents about the re-modeling living space. The results of this study are as following; 1) The most of respondents have answered very positively in the idea of re-modeling in the near future. Re-modeling will be done in the entire space of housing. 2) It is shown that the desire of re-modeling is various, for example, the higher desire of expansion is arisen by someone who has the smaller space. 3) There are some cases; such as the space of balcony is added to the living room to expand the space of living room or the space of balcony is added to the bed room to expand the space of bed room. In this cases there might be some needs in architect technique.

  • This paper presents a game theory application for an analysis of uniform price auction in a simplified competitive electricity market and analyzes the properties of Nash equilibrium for various conditions. We have assumed that each generation firm submits his bid to a market in the form of a sealed bid and the market is operated as a uniform price auction. Two firms are supposed to be the players of the market, and we consider the maximum generation quantity constraint of one firm only. The system demand is assumed to have a linear relationship with market clearing prices and the bidding curve of each firm, representing the price at which he has a willingness to sell his generation quantity, is also assumed to have a linear function. In this paper, we analyze the effects of maximum generation quantity constraints on the Nash equilibrium of the uniform price auction. A simple numerical example with two generation firms is demonstrated to show the basic idea of the proposed methodology.

  • In this paper, a new multirate digital control technique for the Takagi-Sugeno (T-S) fuzzy system is suggested. The proposed method takes account of the stabilizablity of the discrete-time T-S fuzzy system at the fast-rate sampling points. Our main idea is to utilize the lifted control input. The proposed approach is to obtain the multirate discrete-time T-S fuzzy system by discretizing the overall dynamics of the T-S fuzzy system with the lifted control, and then to derive the sufficient conditions for the stabilization in the sense of the Lyapunov asymptotic stability for this system. An example is provided for showing the feasibility of the proposed discretization method.

  • Open Decision Support System(DSS) is an automated and transparent system that is built to be shared both within and across organizations. The open DSS has been thought to be a set of decision components that are communicating through Web protocols. These characteristics intuitively invite the Web services concepts, which are currently one of the new trends in network-based business services. However, web services still are not active enough to be autonomous, and to provide for composing functionalities. These lead to the motivation on building a sophisticated web service to contain these features and to utilize web services on behalf of the user. This paper aims to propose a new concept of Meta Web Service, a web service-based open DSS. Decision modules in a dynamic and open DSS can be viewed as a web service. The Meta Web Service understands the users problem statement with ontology, performs web service discovery, web service composition, and automatically generates codes for composite web service execution. A prototype of example web service has been developed to show the feasibility of the proposed idea.

  • This paper presents a computer method for the dynamic analysis of a system of rigid bodies in plane motion. The formulation rests upon the idea of replacing a rigid body by a dynamically equivalent constrained system of particles. Newton's second law is applied to study the motion of the resulting system of particles without introducing any rotational coordinates. A velocity transformation is used to transform the equations of motion to a reduced set. For an open-chain, this process automatically eliminates all of the non-working constraint forces and leads to an efficient integration of the equations of motion. For a closed-chain, suitable joints should be cut and few cut-joints constraint equations should be included. An example of a closed-chain is used to demonstrate the generality and efficiency of the proposed method.

  • The purpose of Computer Aided Design is to design good products as quickly as possible. To do this, it is important to reuse the old designs and build on them. Most engineering designers, therefore. hale studied methods for reusing old designs, and the results of their study hale been applied to new designs Unfortunately, this only involves reuse of geometric data without design knowledge. If they can design products with the geometric data, including design knowledge, of the old designed and share them through the Internet, design efficiency will be improved. In other words, one way to improve designer's productivity is to share design information that includes knowledge and scattered data across design offices. This paper introduces a shared design environment with distributed knowledge-base. A product design environment based on distributed knowledge-base is proposed, which integrates the CORBA, OLE and WWW as the network architecture, a 3D CAD system, and an expert system shell. A design example of the lens barrel of a projection television is implemented to verify the idea.

  • As we know, roof is composed of heterogeneous rock. When roof fractures, a large amount of energy would be released in the form of seismic wave. How to identify the abnormal signal of seismic wave is a much difficult problem, there are many methods used usually, such as Fourier Transformation, filter technique etc., but abnormal signal can't be recognized accurately. In this paper, multi-resolution wavelet technique is used to identify the first and second variation point, based on the Lipschitz $\alpha$. A living example analysis shows, multi-resolution wavelet technique can identify the abnormal signal of seismic wave effectively in different scale, and the omen of roof fall can be grasped in order to forecast the roof fall accurately. It provides a new idea for the predication of catastrophe on rock mechanics and engineering.

  • The 7th Curriculum emphasizes that in mathematics classes, mathematical concepts be understood and mathematical problems be solved through student's own exploratory activities including the use of data, manipulatives, andtechnological devices. Following the main idea of the Seventh Mathematics Curriculum, this paper dealt with instructional methods applied suitably and effectively in mathematics classes, and focused on the 'exploratory learning in groups' method in mathematics education. For this purpose, this paper reviewed and summarized theories related to general pedagogy and of mathematics education. Based on the results, it investigated appropriate instructional methods in mathematics education. In particular, this paper focused on studying the exploratory learning method while investigating its properties and understand- ing the relationship between the 'exploratory learning in groups' method and the discussion-centered method. Finally, in order to show the usefulness of the exploratory learning method, this paper developed an example of a teaching module using the exploratory learning method in addition to discussion and lecture-centered methods by the use of manipulatives. The main goal of the module was to make students understand the principle of multiplication of integers.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the reasons and backgrounds of drawing auxiliary lines in the proof of geometry. In most of proofs in geometry, drawing auxiliary lines provide important clues, thus they play a key role in deductive proof. However, many student tend to have difficulties of drawing auxiliary lines because there seems to be no general rule to produce auxiliary lines. To alleviate such difficulties, informal activities need to be encouraged prior to draw auxiliary lines in rigorous deductive proof. Informal activities are considered to be contrasting to deductive proof, but at the same time they are connected to deductive proof because each in formal activity can be mathematically represented. For example, the informal activities such as fliping and superimposing can be mathematically translated into bisecting line and congruence. To elaborate this idea, some examples from the middle school mathematics were chosen to corroborate the relation between informal activities and deductive proof. This attempt could be a stepping stone to the discussion of how to teach auxiliary lines and deductive reasoning.

  • In this paper we show that the results of Ahn and Cho (1992) can be applied to a more general class of seasonal models, especially models with autocorrelated errors. Employing the idea of the "two-step estimation" method, we provide test statistics which are easy to compute and have the same asymptotic properties as those in Ahn and Cho (1992) for seasonal unit roots. A numerical example is presented to illustrate the methods and concepts. The power of the test statistics for finite samples is examined through a Monte Carlo sampling experiment.xperiment.
