The Relationship Between Nursing Students' Calling and Nursing Professionalism : Focusing on the Mediating Effect of Ethical Sensitivity (간호대학생의 소명의식과 간호전문직관과의 관계: 윤리적 민감성 매개효과를 중심으로)

  • This study is a descriptive survey research aimed at exploring the relationship between nursing students' sense of calling, nursing professionalism, and ethical sensitivity. Data collection took place from September 1, 2022, to October 31, 2022, and data were collected using the IBM SPSS/WIN 26.0 program. The findings of this study indicated a positive correlation between a sense of calling and professional commitment (r=.43, p<.001), as well as a positive correlation between a sense of calling and ethical sensitivity (r=.38, p< .001). Furthermore, ethical sensitivity was found to have a positive correlation with professional commitment (r=.59, p<.001). Mediation analysis revealed that in the relationship between nursing students' sense of calling and professional commitment, ethical sensitivity acted as a complete mediator, explaining 36% of the variance. Therefore, ethical sensitivity emerges as a crucial variable influencing nursing students' professional commitment, highlighting the necessity for specific strategies to enhance it.

Converged Study of Influencing Factors on Perceived Ethical Confidence in Nurses (간호사의 윤리적의사결정 자신감 영향요인에 대한 융합적연구)

  • The purpose of this converged study was to investigate the level of perceived ethical confidence, character, nursing professional value and moral sensitivity as well as to identify the factors influencing the perceived ethical confidence in nurses. The study evaluated on 174 nurses working in general hospital in D and S Province. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson's correlation, Multiple regression. As a result, the level of perceived ethical confidence was moderate score. There were positive correlations between perceived ethical confidence and character and nursing professional value and moral sensitivity. The significant factors influencing the perceived ethical confidence were character, nursing professional value, moral sensitivity, which explained 25% of variance in perceived ethical confidence. Based on these findings, education programs that develop character and nursing professional value and moral sensitivity are necessary for nurses to promote perceived ethical confidence.

The Effects of Ethical Climate and Ethical Sensitivity on Organizational Effectiveness of Small and Middle-sized Hospital Nurses (지방 중소병원 간호사가 지각하는 조직 내 윤리풍토와 윤리적 민감성이 조직유효성에 미치는 영향)

  • Purpose: This study provides preliminary data for job satisfaction and organizational commitment by finding out the effects of ethical climate perceived by and ethical sensitivity of nurses on the organizational effectiveness of small and medium-sized hospitals. Methods: Study participants were 155 nurses who had worked one year or longer at small and medium-sized hospitals located in the G city, and they were recruited through convenient sampling. The SPSS/Win 20.0 program was used analyze frequency, percentage, average, standard deviation through independent t-test, one way ANOVA, Pearson's correlation coefficient, and multiple regression. Results: The mean score for organizational effectiveness of nurses had a significant positive correlation with ethical climate and ethical sensitivity. ethical climate, experience of receiving nursing ethics education were the major predictors of organizational effectiveness and explained 61%(F=48.36, p<.001) of the total variance in the study. Conclusion: it has been confirmed that ethical climate and experience of receiving nursing ethics education affect organizational effectiveness, a concept that shows the degree of achieving organizational goals while nurses at small and medium-sized hospitals.

Influence of Moral Sensitivity and Ethical Values on Biomedical Ethics Awareness of Nursing Students (간호대학생의 도덕적 민감성과 윤리적 가치관이 생명의료윤리 인식에 미치는 영향)

  • Purpose: This study was performed to investigate the effects of moral sensitivity and ethical values on biomedical ethics awareness of nursing students. Methods: A descriptive survey design was used for this study. The participants were 324 nursing students from S University located in J city. The data were collected through a questionnaire survey done from September 30 to October 18, 2014. Data were analyzed using a t-test, ANOVA, Scheffe's test, Pearson correlation coefficients, and stepwise multiple regression. Results: The factors influencing nursing students' biomedical ethics awareness were identified as moral sensitivity(${\beta}=.34$), ethical values(${\beta}=.11$), awareness of Korean nurses' declaration of ethics(${\beta}=.15$), religion(${\beta}=.14$), and religious activity(${\beta}=.12$). Five factors explained 10.8% of nursing students' biomedical ethics awareness. Conclusion: The results of this study can be used to develop further educational programs on the moral sensitivity and ethical values for enhancement of nursing students' biomedical ethics awareness.

Influence of Nursing Professionalism and Campus Environment on the Perception of Ethical Sensitivity among Nursing Students (간호대학생의 간호전문직관과 대학의 환경풍토가 윤리적 민감성에 미치는 영향)

  • Purpose: This study was performed to identify the influence of nursing professionalism and campus environment on the perception of ethical sensitivity among nursing students. Methods: A descriptive survey design was used for this study. The participants were 323 nursing students attending four universities in Busan and Kyungnam. Data collection was conducted from November 25 to December 25, 2017 using a self-report questionnaire. Data were analyzed using a t-test, ANOVA, Scheffe's test, Pearson's correlation coefficients, and stepwise multiple regression. Results: The factors influencing ethical sensitivity of nursing students were identified as professional self-concept (${\beta}=.36$), nursing role (${\beta}=.24$), scholarship (${\beta}=.17$), practicability (${\beta}=.17$), and propriety (${\beta}=-.13$). Five factors explained 40.5% of nursing students' ethical sensitivity. Conclusion: The results of this study can be used to develop further educational programs on nursing professionalism and campus environments for enhancement of nursing students' ethical sensitivity.

  • Purpose: This study was to evaluate the effects of a blended-learning based bioethics program on perceived ethical confidence, critical thinking disposition, moral sensitivity, and academic self-efficacy of the nursing students living in S city. Methods: The program was conducted 13 sessions (2 hours/session) and evaluated for perceived ethical confidence, critical thinking disposition, moral sensitivity, and academic self-efficacy. The collected data were analyzed with descriptive statistics and paired t-test using the SAS 9.4 program. Results: The blended learning based bioethic program was found to be effective for perceived ethical confidence (t=8.70, p<.001), critical thinking disposition(t=8.96, p<.001), moral sensitivity (t=6.43, p<.001), academic self-efficacy (t=20.5, p<.001), and program satisfaction(t=4.92, p<.001). Conclusion: The results of this study suggest that a blended learning program including TBL has advantages of case-based discussion and active interaction for nursing students' bioethics education.

Effects of Moral Sensitivity and Critical Thinking Disposition on Perceived Ethical Confidence in Nursing Students (간호대학생의 도덕적 민감성과 비판적 사고성향이 윤리적 의사결정 자신감에 미치는 영향)

  • This study was conducted to investigate the level of moral sensitivity, critical thinking disposition and perceived ethical confidence, as well as to identify the factors influencing the perceived ethical confidence in nursing students. The study evaluated 170 nursing students in D Province from May 16-20, 2016. Data were analyzed using a t-test, one-way ANOVA, Pearson's correlation and multiple regression. The mean score of the perceived ethical confidence was $3.54({\pm}0.51)$, the moral sensitivity was $4.92({\pm}0.59)$ and the critical thinking disposition was $3.45({\pm}0.39)$. There were positive correlations between the perceived ethical confidence and moral sensitivity (r=0.410, p<0.001) and critical thinking disposition (r=0.523, p<0.001). The significant factors influencing the perceived ethical confidence were moral sensitivity and critical thinking disposition, which explained 33.2% of the variance in perceived ethical confidence. Based on these findings, programs and teaching methods that develop moral sensitivity and critical thinking disposition are necessary for college nursing students to promote perceived ethical confidence.

Influences of Social-Face Sensitivity and SNS Social Capital on Ethical Consumption in Korea (체면 민감성과 SNS 사회자본이 윤리적 소비에 미치는 영향에 관한 연구)

  • The main purpose of this study is to investigate the effects of social-face sensitivity and SNS social capital on ethical consumption in Korea. Online survey was conducted on 313 adults randomly sampled across the country. The results show that formality had relatively strong positive effect on ethical consumption. But, shame-consciousness had negative effect on ethical consumption. Secondly, the more bridging social capital on SNS, the higher ethical consumption. Lastly, it turned out that Twitter users have more positive ethical consumption than Instagram users. This study revealed for the first time the fact that social-face sensitivity could be a significant predictor of ethical consumption.

Environmental Perception, Ethical Consumer Behavior, and Price Sensitivity: Impact on Using Intention of Eco-Friendly Products

  • Purpose - This study aims to identify the effect of corporate eco-friendly marketing, which focuses on corporate social responsibility, on the environment, natural preservation and protection, and environmental concern among consumers. Research design, data, and methodology - A total of 92 valid questionnaires were used for analysis. A structured model was established and a 3-step mediated regression test was employed to see how consumers' perception of ethical consumer behavior and price sensitivity are influential in relation to the impact of consumer's perception of eco-friendliness on the using intention in relation to eco-friendly products. Results - Three factors of eco-friendly perception all have a positive impact on ethical consumer behavior, thus lowering their price sensitivity. In particular, it is found that environmental knowledge and environmental concern are important to promote ethical consumer behavior. Conclusion - It is found that, to increase the using intention of eco-friendly products, an enterprise should practice an eco-friendly marketing strategy, deliver eco-friendly related knowledge, and include contents to allow consumers to take an interest in the environment for effective performance of marketing.

  • This study identifies the determinants of increasing privacy concerns in the mobile apps. The privacy affecting factors will be divided into the 3 categories on the basis of both users' and developers' perspective. First, this study explores whether the users' seeking value affects concern of the mobile apps privacy. Second, gender gap on the mobile privacy sensitivity will be tested. Third, this study identifies the meaning of apps developers' providing toolkit in the users' sensitivity on the privacy. The result showed that innovation among the customer's characteristics was identified the most significant factor to affect the mobile app privacy sensitivity. Ethical norm related variables (ethical identity, subjective norm and utilitarian value) were also identified as the meaningful variables in the mobile app privacy. Toolkits provided by app developers are also appeared a significant variable to affect the customer's app privacy sensitivity negatively. Finally gender also appears the meaningful factor in the mobile app privacy sensitivity.
