  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to assess the effects of lip anteroposterior position based on esthetic line on the perceived attractiveness. Materials and Methods: We selected a 20s female standard lateral photograph which was within average range of cephalometric analysis, modified lips anteroposterior position based on esthetic line into 5 pictures. This study investigated and compared the preference of facial profile among the groups; male : female and dental relevance: non-dental relevance. Total 255 judges (male : female=138 : 117, relevant : non-relevant=159 : 96) who were 20s to 30s were asked to rate these photographs based in lip attractiveness using visual analogue scale (VAS). Result: All groups had similarity the average of VAS of moved backward lips 2 mm were highest and moved forward lips 4 mm were lowest. Comparing between male group and female group, there were significant differences in all pictures except for original which was not modified. In the dental groups, moved forward lips 2 mm had significant difference and the average in dental relevant group were lower than non-relevant group in lip protrusion. Conclusion: The preference about lip protrusion was similar irrespective of dental knowledge or gender. All groups preferred retrusion of lips to protrusion of lips. In female group, they had higher the average of VAS. In relevant group, they disliked protrusion rather than retrusion of lips significantly.

  • Gradual teeth wear is normal physiological progress, severe tooth wear can causes dysfunction, occlusal plane disharmony and esthetic problems. If additional space is needed for prosthetic restoration due to severe attrition, full mouth rehabilitation with increase of occlusal vertical dimension may be considered. In this case, 72 year old male patient with severe worn dentition, irregular gingival zenith and deep anterior bite was treated by full mouth rehabilitation for regaining the space for restoration, improving relationship and esthetic of anterior teeth. Provisional restoration obtained by systemic analysis, diagnosis and re-evaluation for a sufficient time was replicated to final restorations through double scanning technique using monolithic zirconia blocks. Satisfactory functional and esthetic outcomes were obtained.

  • Purpose: This study evaluated the associations of the dental arch form, age-sex groups, and sagittal root position (SRP) with alveolar bone thickness of the maxillary central incisors using cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) images. Materials and Methods: CBCT images of 280 patients were categorized based on the dental arch form and age-sex groups. From these patients, 560 sagittal CBCT images of the maxillary central incisors were examined to measure the labial and palatal bone thickness at the apex level and the palatal bone at the mid-root level, according to the SRP classification. The chi-square test, Kruskal-Wallis test, and multiple linear regression were used for statistical analyses. Results: Significant differences were found in alveolar bone thickness depending on the arch form and SRP at the apex level. The square dental arch form and class I SRP showed the highest bone thickness at both levels of the palatal aspect. The taper dental arch form and class II SRP presented the highest bone thickness at the apex level of the labial aspect. No association was found between the dental arch form and SRP. Elderly women showed a significant association with thinner alveolar bone. Age-sex group, the dental arch form, and SRP had significant associations with alveolar bone thickness at the apex level. Conclusion: The patient's age-sex group, dental arch form, and SRP were associated with alveolar bone thickness around the maxillary central incisors with varying magnitudes. Therefore, clinicians should take these factors into account when planning immediate implant placement.

  • Jewelry is not only symbolic meaning of the fortune, but also it completes or redound to fashion style and its image in this modern times which diverse culture live together. The instinct for adornment which is long as human cultures is developed as Artwork genuinely to show effective self-expression that is aesthetic and distinguished. It would be from that it made by using metallic materials. In contemporary fashion, jewelry takes so much importance that it sets the trend. They carry a sensible message that expresses esthetic desire and originality. Among the so many kinds of jewelry, especially the necklace is located beneath the face and linked as a part of fashion, so it frequently has showed in Fashion Collection, We tend to study the effect of that the form, hue and character of materials of necklace that is expressed in fashion collection influence fashion image. The method of this study is comprised with precedent studies and analysis of necklace photos in fashion collection. For the analysis of data, we implement content analysis and statistical analysis using SPAW Statistics 18. As the result, fashion and jewelry effect interactively and share esthetic forms, in the view of total image necklace image is more strong than fashion image. Because the hue and the form of necklace take a great role to make fashion image with the sense of its eyesight, its effective coordination go up the delicate feelings of the fashion. So, it is very effective things that we predict the trend of fashion, then, coordinate with well-matched necklace.

  • To enhance the esthetic appearance, the maxillary anterior area is important. It is possible to improve the esthetic appearance through the treatment of maxillary anterior area, which includes altering the color, form, and arrangement of teeth. When planning these treatments, clinicians should individualize personal demands, by using the information obtained from facial, dento-labial, dental, and gingival analysis. It is essential to properly prepare the gingival structure, which includes the height of gingival margin, the location of zenith, reconstruction of the interdental papillae, emergence profile, and symmetry. Clinicians often face unfavorable condition of the gingiva and the edentulous ridge, and appropriate management of the gingival structure is needed. In this case report, the patients were treated to improve the gingival conditions surrounding maxillary anterior teeth. By using conservative treatment without surgical intervention, such as application of pink porcelain, subgingival contour modelling and modification of pontic base, satisfactory esthetic results were gained.

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze the stresses and displacements of various esthetic restorations and abutment teeth. The finite element models of central incisor were divided into four groups according to the types of restoration. Three load cases were applied; 1) 45 degrees on the incisal edge, 2) horizontal force on the labial surface, and 3) 26 degrees diagonally on the lingual surface. Material property, geometry, and load conditions of each model were inputed to the two dimensional finite element program and stresses and displacements were analyzed. Results were as follows; 1. In the cases of porcelain fused gold ann and porcelain laminate venner, stresses were equally distributed in supporting abutment tooth. 2. The metal coping of porcelain fused gold u and collarless porcelain fused gold crown functioned as a good stress distributor. 3. When the horizontal load applied, the highest tensile and compressive stresses were seen in the cervical margin of restoration and the dentin of the abutment tooth. 4. The highest displacement of restoration was seen when load was applied at an mee of 26 degrees diagonally in lingual surface of tooth in centric occlusion. 5. The influence of loading direction on the stresses and displacements in the restoration was greater than that of various design. 6. The possibility of fracture was highest in porcelain jacket crown.
