초대형 구조모델을 활용한 쉘구조물의 용접변형 해석 (A weld-distortion analysis method of the shell structures using ultra structural FE model)

  • A very large shell-structure built in shipyards like ship hulls or offshore structures are joined by welding through full process. As the welding contains a high thermal cycle at a local area, the welded structures should be distorted unavoidably. Because a distorted ship block should be revised to the designed value before the next stage, the ability to predict and to control the weld distortion is an accuracy level of the yard itself. Despite the ship block size, several present thermal distortion methodologies can deal those sizes, but it is a different story to deal full ship size model. Even a fully constructed ship hull not remaining any welding can have an accuracy issue like outfitting installation problems. Any present thermal distortion methodology cannot accept this size for its recommended element size and the number. The ordinary welding breadth at erection stage is about 20~40 mm. It can hardly be a good choice to make finite element model of these sizes considering human effort and computational environment. The finite element model for structure analysis of a ship hull is prepared at front-end engineering design stage which is the first process of the project. The element size of the model is as fine as the longitudinal space, and it is not proper to obtain a weld distortion at the erection stage. In this study, a methodology is suggested that a weldment can be shrunk at original place instead of using structural finite element model. We cut the original shell elements at erection weld-line and put truss elements between the edges of cut elements for weld shrinkage. Additional truss elements are used to facsimile transverse weld shrinkage which cannot be from the weld-line truss element shrink. They attach to weld-line truss element like twigs from barks. The capacity of developed elements is verified through an accuracy check of erection process of a container vessel at the apt. hull. It can be a useful tool for verifying a centering accuracy after renew and for block-separating planning considering accuracy.

  • 와이어 로프(wire rope)는 여러 가닥의 얇고 긴 철사를 감아서 밧줄과 같이 만든 것으로 굽힘과 비틀림 하중에 비해 축 하중에 더 크게 저항할 수 있는 특징을 가지고 있다. 해상 크레인, 갠트리 크레인, 크롤러 크레인 등과 같이 선박 또는 해양 구조물의 탑재를 위해 사용되는 조선용 탑재 크레인은 이러한 와이어 로프를 이용해 큰 중량의 블록들을 들거나 내리고 있다. 따라서 블록의 안전한 탑재를 위해서는 와이어 로프에 대한 동역학적 특성을 잘 파악해야 한다. 본 연구에서는 블록 탑재 시 크레인의 와이어 로프에 작용하는 장력과 비틀림 모멘트에 대한 계산식을 유도하고, 이를 기반으로 한 조선용 탑재 크레인의 동역학 시뮬레이션을 수행하였다. 그 결과, 개발된 시뮬레이션 방법이 실제 조선소의 안전한 블록 탑재 과정에 충분히 적용할 수 있음을 확인하였다.

  • Methods for the manufacture, erection, and assembly of heavy frame modules were proposed. Interferences among precast members were prevented by using bolted metal plates for dry precast beam-to-column joints during assembly with a clearance for tolerance implementing grouted concrete filler plates instead of metal filler plates. Clearances for tolerances were provided to avoid conflictions among components during erection phases. These gaps were, then, grouted by high-strength mortar. The constructability of new connections of a beam-to-column joint using bolted metal plates for precast structures was examined using a full-scale assembly test in which practical observations indicated that members could be aligned and placed accurately in both horizontal and vertical directions, leading to a fast and convenient assembling. Bolt holes of the endplate were properly aligned using couplers with 30 mm fastened length embedded in the columns. The assembly test demonstrated the erection safety and structural stability of the proposed joints that were without filler plates when they were subjected to heavy loads at the time of their erection. The facile and rapid assembly of precast beam-to-column connections with a 30 mm tolerance was observed. The proposed assembly method is rapid, sustainable, and resilient, replacing the conventional methods of concrete frame construction, offering a connection that can be used in constructing infrastructure, such as buildings and pipe-rack frames.

보강형의 시공방법을 고려한 타정식 현수교의 초기형상해석 모델 (A Structural Analysis Model for the Initial Configuration of a Suspension Bridge Considering the Erection Method of Stiffening Girders)

  • 타정식 현수교의 보강형 가설중의 경계조건과 하중조건의 변화를 고려하여 초기형상을 결정하기 위한 구조해석 모델링 방법 및 해석 알고리즘을 제안하였다. 타정식 현수교의 가설단계를 보강형의 가설시점을 기준으로 보강형 가설단계인 1단계와 완공단계의 2단계로 구분하였으며 이러한 가설단계를 고려하여 초기형상해석 단계를 1차 형상해석과 2차 형상보정해석의 2단계로 구분하였다. 각 해석단계에 대한 보강형의 경계조건과 작용하중의 모델링 방법 및 반복해석 알고리즘을 제안하였으며 실 교량에 대해 수치해석을 수행하여 기존 해석방법에 의한 초기형상해석결과와 비교, 분석하였다. 실 교량에 대한 수치해석 결과 기존 초기형상해석방법의 문제점을 파악할 수 있었으며 본 연구에서 제안된 방법을 적용할 경우 기존 방법의 문제점을 해결할 수 있음을 확인하였다.

  • These brief studies and reports of the use of exposed aggrigate precast concrete in practice are combined with a description of some notable co-ordination such as shop drawing, manufacturing and erection in the field construction. Above mentioned exposed aggrigate P. C. means architectural P. C. which was used to the VOTRAKON site in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Fabricated P. C. on the site without autoclaving and steam curing plant had been successfully carried out on this project-core building, conference room and others. The project designed by HOPE/VTN international INC. which is located in San Diego, California U.S.A. stands for vocational training and related support facilities contract. We had to submit shop drawings showing complete information for fabrication and installation of P. C. unit reinforcement. Also we should be indicated member dimension and cross section, location size and type of necessary for erection. We can delineate the following characteristic results. One of the most important things how to handle exposed aggrigate P.C. unit as specified was quality assurance and co-ordination for shop drawing, manufacturing and erection.

자원 제약을 고려한 조선산업에서의 탑재 일정계획에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Erection Scheduling for Shipbuilding Considering Resource Constraints)

  • Scheduling for shipbuilding processes has many alternative solutions since it has long time horizon and handles many jobs. This requests the scheduling system to generate and search feasible alternative solutions in short period of time. Among shipbuilding schedules, the ship erection schedule in a dock is the most important since the dock is the most critical resource in shipyard. In this research, we model the erection scheduling problem for shipbuilding and develop a new problem solving method using CST(Constraint Satisfaction Technique) and ILOG Scheduler. Experimental results show that the proposed scheduling method outperforms the existing manual scheduling methods in terms of schedule performance and required time.

Unbalanced wind buffeting effects on bridges during double cantilever erection stages

  • This paper is focused on the torsional effects that are induced on bridge piers by unbalanced wind buffeting on the deck during double cantilever erection stages. The case of decks with variable cross section is considered in particular as this characteristic is typical of most frame bridges that are built by the cantilever method. The procedure outlined in the paper is basically an application of the method that Dyrbye and Hansen (1996) have illustrated for decks with constant cross section. This format was chosen because it is suitable for design purposes and may easily be implemented in structural codes. As a complement, the correspondence with the format that is adopted in the Canadian code (NBCC 1990) for the gust factor is established, which might be useful to bridge designers used to the North-American approach to the gust effects on structures. Only alongwind turbulence and horizontal movements of the deck are considered. The combination of torsional and bending effects is also discussed and it is illustrated with an example of application.

  • The development of a simulation system requires many sub modules such as a dynamic module, a visualization module, etc. If a different freeware is used for each sub modules, it is hard to develop the simulation system by incorporating them because they use their own data structures. To solve this problem, a high-level data structure, called Dynamics Scene Graph Data structure (DSGD) is proposed, by wrapping data structures of two freeware; an Open Dynamics Engine (ODE) for the dynamic module and an Open Scene Graph (OSG) for the visualization module. Finally, to evaluate the applicability of the proposed data structure, it is applied to the block erection simulation in shipbuilding. The result shows that it can be used for developing the simulation system.

  • Because of variable factors in construction phase, measurement of carbon emission in construction industry is more difficult than in other industries. To enhance accuracy of the measurement, the impact of variable factors must be considered. In this paper, to understand the influence of variable factors in steel erection work, a carbon emission casual map was developed. The map demonstrates that the considerations of variable factors in measurement of carbon emission improves the accuracy. The results of this paper are expected to contribute to development of carbon emission casual map and carbon emission measurement model for the entire construction phase.

Ultimate load capacity of unit Strarch frames using an explicit numerical method

  • This study uses an explicit numerical algorithm to evaluate the ultimate load capacity analysis of a unit Strarch frame, accounting for the initial imperfection effects of the stress-erection process. Displacement-based filament beam element and an explicit dynamic relaxation method with kinetic damping are used to achieve the analysis. The section is composed of the finite number of filaments that can be conveniently modeled by various material models. Ramberg-Osgood and bilinear kinematic elastic plastic material models are formulated to analyze the nonlinear material behaviors of filaments. The numerical results obtained in the present study are compared with the results of experiment for stress-erection and buckling of unit Strarch frames.
