환경가치교육을 위한 모듈식 프로그램 개발 (The Development of Modular Program for Environmental Values Education)

  • The ultimate objective of environmental education is to develop characteristics of the affective domain being the basis for environmental behavior. As this need, the researchers developed a modular program for environmental values education suited elementary school's actuality. In practice of program development, researchers analyzed the contents of environmental education in current curriculum. Researchers set up development principles of modular program according to the level of elementary moral development. The system of this modular program consists of three levels like environmental awareness, environmental literacy, environmental responsibility, and each module is made up of three subjects representing these levels. So this modular program is classified with three level's modular group like low grade, center grade, and high grade. And set in array after selecting value strategies suited each grade level. The expectant effects of this program for environmental values education are as follows: Students form sound environmental values and attitudes for environment through various strategies that develop environmental awareness and environmental literacy. And those strategies provides various experiences to construct knowledge, value, and attitude about environment by oneself working together with teacher. So teacher and students can utilize easily at school or in nature. Besides, since it relates with single environmental problem from awareness to participation about environment, teachers can conduct elementary environmental curriculum more systematically and effectively.

PBL을 적용한 환경글쓰기 수업이 초등학생들의 기후소양 및 환경감수성에 미치는 효과 (The Effect of PBL-applied Environmental Writing Class on Climate Literacy and Environmental Sensitivity of Elementary School Students)

  • 본 연구는 P광역시 H초등학교 5학년 43명의 학생들을 대상으로 PBL을 적용한 환경글쓰기 수업이 초등학생들의 기후소양 및 환경감수성에 어떤 효과가 있는지를 알아본 것이다. 본 연구의 수행을 위해서 8차시의 PBL을 적용한 환경글쓰기 수업을 개발하여 적용하여 그 효과를 알아보았다. 본 연구의 결론은 다음과 같다. 첫째, PBL을 적용한 환경글쓰기 수업은 초등학생들의 기후소양을 향상시키는데 통계적으로 유의미한 효과가 있었다. 기후소양의 하위영역 실천영역을 제외한 인지와 정의 영역에서 통계적으로 유의미한 결과가 나타났다. 둘째, PBL을 적용한 환경글쓰기 수업은 초등 학생들의 환경감수성을 향상시키는데 유의미한 효과가 있다. 환경감수성의 하위영역 민감성, 심미감과 정서안정, 동정과 연민 모든 하위 영역에서 통계적으로 유의미한 효과가 나타났다. 이처럼 PBL을 적용한 환경글쓰기 수업이 초등학생들의 기후소양 및 환경감수성을 향상시킬 수 있었던 원인은 환경문제를 해결하기 위해서 학생들이 주도적으로 수업에 참여하고, 환경문제가 우리의 실생활과 깊게 관련되어 있다는 사실을 깨달을 수 있었기 때문이라고 판단된다.

기후변화 프로젝트 학습이 초등학생의 기후변화에 대한 인식 및 태도, 환경소양에 미치는 영향 (Effects of Climate Change Project Learning on Elementary School Students' Perceptions and Attitudes Toward Climate Change and Environmental Literacy)

  • 본 연구에서는 기후변화와 프로젝트 수업이 초등학생의 기후변화에 대한 인식 및 태도, 환경소양에 어떠한 영향을 미치는지 알아보았다. 이를 위하여 광역시 소재의 초등학교 6학년 학생 174명(남학생 77명, 여학생 97명)의 학생을 대상으로 12차시 분량의 기후변화 프로젝트 수업을 실시한 후 학생들의 기후변화에 대한 인식 및 태도, 환경소양 수준의 변화를 분석하였다. 연구 결과, 기후변화 프로젝트 수업은 초등학생의 기후변화에 대한 인식 및 태도에 긍정적인 영향을 미쳤다. 프로젝트 학습 과정에서 기후변화 문제와 관련하여 서로 조사한 내용을 공유하고 소통하면서 학생들의 기후변화에 대한 인식 및 태도가 함양된 것으로 판단된다. 또한 기후변화 프로젝트 수업은 초등학생의 환경소양에 긍정적인 영향을 미쳤다. 구체적으로 환경태도 및 가치, 환경 친화적 행동 영역에서는 긍정적인 변화가 관찰되었지만 환경감수성 영역에서는 유의한 변화가 나타나지 않았다. 본 연구는 과학 및 환경 관련 교육학 분야에서 강조되고 있는 기후변화 문제를 소재로 한 기후변화 프로젝트 수업의 교육적 효과를 논의하고 시사점을 제안했다는 점에서 의미가 있다.

중등 환경 교과서의 환경 소양 요소 분석 (Analysis of Environmental Literacy Components for Secondary School Environmental Education Textbooks)

  • The purpose of this study was to make valuable suggestions for improving environmental education(EE) teaching materials. For the purpose of this study, we analyzed four secondary school EE textbooks in the perspective of environmental literacy components. The findings of this study are as follows: (1) As a whole, the EE textbooks tend to focus the understanding environmental knowledge much more than environmental activities. (2) In 'main text' domain of EE textbooks, environmental information, including environmental issue knowledge, is much more focused than environmental attitudes and behavior, including socio-political and environmental issue knowledge. (3) In 'graphic data' domain, environmental information about environmental issue knowledge was most prevalent. (4) Most learning activities focus on 'issue skill' component, rather than 'attitude' and 'action' component. (5) The objectives of EE in the 7th national Curriculum were not explicitly embedded in textbooks and too much is inclined toward 'knowledge' and 'skill'. Accordingly, it is necessary to develop 'module-type' EE textbooks to enable integrative EE. Also, it is suggested to develop specific strategies for linking environmental knowledge and attitude/behavior.

초등 예비교사들의 해양학적 소양과 해양 관련 주제의 교수 전략에 대한 의견 분석 (An Analysis of Pre-service Elementary Teachers' Oceanographic Literacy and Opinions on Teaching Strategies for Ocean-related Topics)

  • This study aims to analyze pre-service elementary teachers' oceanographic literacy, understanding of ocean environmental problems and opinions on teaching strategies for ocean topics. As survey participants, this study selected 126 pre-service elementary teachers. Firstly, as a result of testing their oceanographic literacy, this study found out that out of all the basic principles, 'Oceans Largely Unexplored' was highest in the mean score, followed by 'Human Connections', 'Ocean & Its Life Shape Earth', 'Habitability', 'Biodiversity', 'Weather & Climate' and 'Size of Ocean'. Besides, regarding environmental problems affecting all the aspects of ocean, they mentioned oil spills caused by vessel accidents, so called 'Oil Pollution', as the most serious marine environmental problem. Regarding environmental problems affecting coral reefs, they considered over-fishing as the most serious problem. Secondly, as a result of analyzing their opinions on effective teaching strategies for ocean-related topics in elementary science textbooks, this study found out that regarding topics about understanding the undersea topography in the chapter of the earth and moon, they proposed 'Making an Undersea Topographic Model with Sand' most as an effective teaching strategy. As an effective teaching strategy for the chapter of animals' lives, they proposed 'Classifying Animals with Marine Animal Cards' most. As an effective teaching strategy for the chapter of ground surface changes, they proposed 'Making and Simulating Seashore Topography' most.

강원특별자치도에 거주하는 성인의 디지털 구강건강 문해력과 디지털 기기 활용도의 관련성 (Relationship between digital oral health literacy and digital device utilization among adults in Gangwon-do)

  • Objectives: This study aimed to identify the level of digital oral health literacy among Korean adults in Gangwon-do. Methods: A survey was conducted through face-to-face interviews with adults aged 30-89 residing in Gangwon-do, South Korea. The independent variables were socio-demographic characteristics, including gender, age, education level, income, and occupation. The dependent variable was digital oral health literacy. The statistical analysis included Independent t-test, one-way ANOVA, Pearson correlation analysis, and multiple linear regression analysis, all performed using the SPSS 27.0 software program. Results: The elderly and those with poor socioeconomic status (p<0.001) had lower average scores due to poor digital oral health literacy. The ease of searching for oral health information and the utilization of digital devices to search for information on oral health displayed a significant relationship (r=0.730, p<0.001). To develop the use of digital devices, simplifying the search for oral information (p<0.001) is essential. Conclusions: All socio-demographic characteristics, except gender, displayed a correlation with the level of digital oral health literacy. Both environmental and individual aspects of the respondents' living conditions must be considered to improve digital oral health literacy.

환경교육용 보드게임 디자인 활동이 고등학생들의 환경적 지식, 환경 소양과 창의 공학적 문제해결 성향에 미치는 영향 (Effect of Board Game Design Activity for Environmental Education on High School Students' Environmental Knowledge, Environmental Literacy and Creative Engineering Problem Solving Propensity)

  • 본 연구는 환경교육용 보드게임 디자인 활동을 개발하고, 이 활동이 고등학생들의 환경 개념적 지식, 환경 소양 및 창의 공학적 문제해결성향에 미치는 영향을 조사한 것이다. 환경동아리에 소속된 25명의 고등학고 1, 2 학년 학생들이 연구에 참여 하였다. 보드게임 디자인 활동은 총 10차시 수업으로 공학적 설계에 기반하여 개발되었다. 연구의 주요 데이터는 환경 주제(기후온난화와 생태계 파괴)에 관한 학생들의 지식을 측정하기 위해 실시된 사전-사후 개념도와 환경 소양 측정지 및 창의적 공학적 문제해결성향 측정지이다. 연구 결과 환경교육용 보드게임 디자인 활동을 수행한 후 학생들이 제시한 개념도의 환경관련 단어의 개수가 지식 영역에서 증가한 것을 알 수 있었다. 또한 환경 소양측정지와 창의공학적 문제해결성향 측정지의 평균도 사전에 비해 사후에 유의미하게 증가하였다. 이러한 결과를 통해 보드게임을 활용한 수업 방법이 학생들이 다양한 역량을 기를 수 있도록 돕는다는 것을 알 수 있다. 이와 같이 보드게임과 중등 교육을 접목한 연구는 활성화되어야 하며 이를 현장에 적용하기 위해 현직 교사들의 새로운 교육 방식에 대한 교육과 지원이 필요하다.

부산 지역 대학생들의 환경 소양에 관한 인식 조사 (A Study on the Exploration of College Students' Environmental Literacy in Susan)

  • This study examined college students' environmental knowledge, attitudes as well as their behaviors in Busan. Among four areas (biodiversity, carbon cycle, ozone, and global warming) of environmental knowledge, students represented the most understanding on global warming, and the least understanding on biodiversity. In regards to environmental attitude, students represented the lowest scores in reality of limits to growth, and the highest scores in antianthropocentrism. With respect to environmental-friendly behavior, less than 30% of students responded that they always tried to use less paper towels. In addition, only 24% of students responded that they always recycle e-waste. These college students did not represent gender difference in environmental knowledge, attitude as well as behavior. Moreover, there was a strong relationship between environmental knowledge and attitude, while no relationship between environmental knowledge and behavior as well as between environmental attitude and behavior.

Higher food literacy scores are associated with healthier diet quality in children and adolescents: the development and validation of a two-dimensional food literacy measurement tool for children and adolescents

  • BACKGROUND/OBJECTIVES: Most child and adolescent food literacy measurement tools focus on nutrition and food safety. However, the importance of aspects related to the food system such as food distribution and food waste and their effects on environmental sustainability is growing. We therefore developed and validated a two-dimensional tool for children (8-12 years old) and adolescents (13-18 years old) that can comprehensively measure food literacy. The association of food literacy with diet quality and self-reported health was assessed. SUBJECTS/METHODS: First, we developed a food literacy conceptual framework that contains food system and literacy dimensions through a literature review, focus group interviews, and expert review. After a face validity study, we conducted the main survey (n = 200) to validate the questionnaire. Construct validity and reliability were assessed using exploratory factor analysis (EFA), confirmatory factor analysis (CFA), and Cronbach's alpha. RESULTS: As a result of the Delphi study, content validity was confirmed for the remaining 30 items after two items were excluded (content validity ratio = 0.86). Eleven items were excluded from the EFA results, while the CFA results indicated appropriate fit indices for the proposed model (comparative fit index = 0.904, root mean square error of approximation = 0.068). The final food literacy questionnaire consisted of 19 questions and comprised 5 factors: production, distribution, selection, preparation and cooking, and intake. Food literacy was positively associated with diet quality, as assessed by the Nutrition Quotient score, in both children and adolescents and with self-reported health in adolescents.
