  • The article assesses the role of the human factor in management, analyzes the personnel policy, as well as the style and methods of management at the enterprise. The purpose of the article is to study the place and role of personnel management in the general management system of an organization. Particular tasks of the research have been solved: the place and role of personnel management in the system of general management theory have been determined; determined the place of personnel management in the system of modern sciences.

  • Digital transformation(DT) is about reinventing the enterprise, completely changing its vision, strategy, organizational structure, processes, capabilities, and culture. Therefore, companies preparing or embarking on DT must be able to identify their current status and assess their level for successful DT. In this study, we developed indicators to diagnose and evaluate the current level of a company for successful DT. The current level was actually evaluated by using the evaluation indicators developed for the financial industry (insurance, securities, etc.), an industry where DT is currently being successfully introduced. The most important aspect of this study is that it provides metrics to evaluate the adoption an progress of digital transformation when reinvention a company, rather than a partial view.

Traveling televisual texts: transnational adaptations of "Doctor Foster" into Korea's "The World of the Married" and the Philippines' "The Broken Marriage Vow"

  • Korean dramas, commonly referred to as Koreanovelas or K-Dramas in the Philippines, have significantly influenced and reshaped Philippine television culture since the early 2000s. Their impact persists in contemporary television programming, reflecting the transnational flow of media texts across borders. As media content transcends geographical boundaries, local media companies have adopted the practice of producing adaptations of foreign television series for their audiences. This paper examines the adaptation of the Koreanovela The World of the Married into the Philippine series The Broken Marriage Vow, both of which are adaptations derived from the British show Doctor Foster. Through this comparative analysis, I argue that the process of localizing these television shows to suit the preferences of the target audience serves as a tangible manifestation of transnational adaptation. Particularly in an era of globalization, where entertainment is still a thriving enterprise, thus traversing international borders, this phenomenon demonstrates the evolving nature of television content as it adapts and caters to diverse cultural contexts let alone a profitable means to generate an ailing entertainment industry, especially in the time of the pandemic.

Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) of Small Enterprises in Hospitality and Tourism Industry (환대관광산업 소규모기업 사회적 책임활동(CSR): 회사 홈페이지 커뮤니케이션 분석을 중심으로)

  • Purpose - The purpose of this paper is to explore the CSR activities of small enterprises in hospitality and tourism industry in South Korea. Since previous research on CSR activities has considerably focused on large enterprises whereas small enterprises have relatively less attention, this study aims to explore the characteristics of small enterprises in hospitality and tourism industry and their CSR activities. Research design, data, and methodology - The population of interest for this study was social enterprises registered in Korea Social Enterprise Promotion Agency (2016), and it was used to verify the social enterprises which has a certification for social enterprises. From 1672 companies in total, the sampling frame was a database with 117 companies in hospitality and tourism industry. This study investigates social enterprises' CSR activities on the company's official websites (e.g., company reports, magazines, the news articles, and interviews). The websites of the selected enterprises in hospitality and tourism industry were analyzed for examining CSR activities by the quantitative content analysis. All of the CSR activities in small social enterprises were classified into six dimensions based on the stakeholder theory. Results - The findings of this study provide the characteristics of the 117 small social enterprises and their specific CSR initiatives. A total of eight main business lines were identified: 1) fair travel, 2) leisure/sports, 3) accommodation/camping, 4) medical tourism, 5) exhibitions/art events/cultural events, 6) leisure activities for vulnerable social groups, 7) Korean traditional culture, and 8) ecotourism/agricultural tourism. The CSR initiatives were classified into six dimensions: 1) environment, 2) employment, 3) multicultural families and vulnerable social groups, 4) local community, 5) economic prosperity, and 6) product. Conclusions - This study revealed the special CSR initiative examples of small enterprises in hospitality and tourism industry. Small social enterprises participate in CSR activities mainly related to their own business lines. Moreover, these enterprises are more closely embedded in their local community development, job creation and education for local residents and vulnerable social groups, and traditional heritage preservation. The findings of this study provide theoretical and practical implications and they can contribute to enrich CSR with literature for small enterprises in hospitality and tourism industry.

Selection of Six Sigma Key Ingredients (6시그마 핵심구성요소 선정)

  • In these days, most of Korean industries advocates and utilizes Six Sigma as an integrated innovation tool for all their business and manufacturing processes. Six Sigma is known to bring more financial and managerial achievements than other innovation methods and tools. However, such successes are not always guaranteed. To adopt and implement Six Sigma successfully, it is necessary to grasp and understand essential characteristics of Six Sigma and then identify suitable elements and complements in consideration of vision, strategies, capability, circumstance and environment of the company. Step by step implementation plan may be built based on those ingredients. This study is to find out key ingredients (KIs) of Six Sigma. Potential ingredients selected from previous studies of success factors and ingredients of Six Sigma and TQM, and criteria of quality awards like MBNQA, EFQM, Deming prize and Korean National Quality Awards (KNQA) are classified into 11 categories based on experts' opinion and affinity analysis: management leadership, belt system, training, six sigma system, compensation, organization, corporate culture, customer focused, project selection, management of project results, and managerial achievements. Irrelevant or ineffective potential ingredients are discarded using factor analysis for the questionnaires answered by champions, MBB's and BB's of 90 Korean companies that have more than 3 years experience of Six Sigma. Also from the factor analysis, 3 factors are derived for each categories respectively except the managerial achievement category. Those 11 categories and 30 factors are defined as KIs of Six Sigma. This study also reveals that there is difference according to enterprise size, type of business, and implementation time in terms of KI's, and prioritizes KI's that an enterprise to pursue Six Sigma successfully should consider according to its characteristics.

  • Today, many domestic companies often face the lawsuits from the U.S. companies as they expand their business in the U.S. market and it is necessary for the domestic companies to prepare for the e-Discovery process in the systematic manner. Yet, the e-discovery system has not been properly established in Korea, however, domestic companies are growing more and more interests in e-Discovery processes and procedures so that they are seeking for the appropriate actions that they should take when facing lawsuits. When adopting the e-Discovery system in Korea, there are three main considerations including the differences in laws and regulations, enterprise system and language and company culture. This study aims to draw the problems for the Korean domestic companies in responding the U.S. lawsuits and to suggest the specialized e-discovery processes and procedures to effectively overcome them.

  • The companies need the enterprise-wide support environment to build the competency to gather VOM(Voice of Market) in the process of preparing and implementing the strategy and to help establishing and managing the business process in order to secure the continuous competitive edge The enterprise-wide support environment to establish, operate, improve and evaluate the business process must be carried out. In this paper we define the method to define process and business rule in order to enable accurate execution of the process. Furthermore, collection and refection of accurate data concerning the competency of individuals, the subjects of the process execution, allows prevention of weakness of the process execution result and is the basis for identifying the areas of improvement. Therefore, high visibility can be attained through the work knowledge and processes presented in rules, and it can help firmly establish the process centered work culture (or system) in the organization by process improvement strictly based on data.

The Relationship between Job Stress, Job Crafting, and Organizational Commitment: For Social Enterprises (직무스트레스, 직무재창조 및 조직몰입 간의 관계: 사회적기업을 대상으로)

  • This study was conducted to investigate the relationship between job stress, job crafting, and organizational commitment and the moderating effect of job crafting for members working at social enterprises in Busan. The analysis results are as follows. First, job stress confirmed the negative effect on organizational commitment. Second, it was confirmed that job crafting had a significant effect on organizational commitment in the relationship between job stress and organizational commitment. Based on the results of this study, since job stress of social enterprise workers lowers job commitment, a plan to effectively manage and reduce their stress is required. In addition, job crafting regulates the relationship between job stress and organizational commitment, which means that although members are stressed, job stress has a different negative effect on organizational commitment depending on how much they perceive the meaning and value of their work.

  • This research explores the role of personal performance expectation, task-technology fit, perceived rewards, shared vision, usefulness of knowledge sharing, top management support, organization culture, organizational commitment, KMS self-efficacy as antecedents which affect knowledge sharing activity as a consequence and investigates relationships among variables considering characteristics. The results show that members' perceived personal performance expectation, task-technology fit, perceived rewards, shared vision, usefulness of knowledge sharing, top management support, organization culture, organizational commitment, KMS self-efficacy has a positive effect perspectively on knowledge sharing in a organization. Especially, the fact that perceived members' task-technology fit, perceived rewards, usefulness of knowledge sharing is more important than other variables was confirmed. The results of this study, knowledge-sharing activities of the enterprise, members of the organization's business strategy for the activation process is expected to help.

Job Satisfaction of Employees in F&B Department: Domestic Independent Deluxe Hotel vs. International Chain Deluxe Hotel (국내 비체인 특급 호텔과 외국계 체인 특급 호텔 조리.식음료 종사원의 직무만족도 비교 분석)

  • The purposes of this study were to measure the job satisfaction levels of F&B(Food & Beverage) personnel in hotel by using JDI(Job Descriptive Index), to investigate relationships between demographic variables or job type and job satisfaction, to determine the relative importance of the five facets and to identify the effects of job satisfaction on turnover intention by hotel. Questionnaire was developed and distributed to 660 employees who are currently working in food & beverage department of hotel A (Domestic independent deluxe hotel) and hotel B(international chain deluxe hotel). A total of 498 questionnaires were usable; resulting in 75.5% response rate. The survey was conducted between March 16 to 27, 2000. As a result of analysis on job satisfaction, total JDI score was 136.57 out of full mark 210. Personnel of Hotel A was more satisfied significantly with work itself (p<.01), supervision (p<.001), co-worker (p<.01), total JDI (p<.001) than those of hotel B. Total JDI and work itself score were higher on employees of front of the house than those of back of the house in both of hotels. Payroll was the most important facet on job satisfaction. Finally, work itself (p<.001) and payroll (p<.05) had a significant effect on turnover intention in hotel A and work itself (p<.001), supervision (p<.05) and promotion (p<.05) did in hotel B. The findings indicated the necessity of human resource management apt to the vision of enterprise and the organizational culture.
