Since IFC (Industry Foundation Classes) 4 is based on the representation of 3D elements for an architecture project, and does not define standardized shapes for civil projects such as roads, bridges, and tunnels etc, it has limitations in securing interoperability for exchanging a shape information model for the civil projects. Besides, since road facilities have a linear reference, which is modeled along the center alignment, it is difficult the designers to create a standardized 3D road model. The aim of this study is to configure structure elements and their attribute for a road in the perspective of 3D design for developing a shape information model for the road. To solve these issues, this study analyzes the design documents, which consist of a road design handbook, guide, specifications and standards, and then extract shape elements and their attributes of road structures. Such shape elements are defined as an entity item and we review a hierarchical structure of a road shape defined by a virtual road model. The detailed elements and their attributes can be utilized as a 3D shape information model for constructing BIM (Building Information Modeling) environment for Infrastructures. Besides, it is expected that the suggested items will be utilized as a base data for extending to IFC for a road subdividing the detailed shapes, types and attributes for road projects.
With the current move towards adopting mechanistic-empirical concepts in the design of pavement structures, state-of-the-art mechanistic analysis methodologies are needed to determine accurate pavement responses, such as stress, strain, and deformation. Previous laboratory studies of pavement foundation geomaterials, i.e., unbound granular materials used in base/subbase layers and fine-grained soils of a prepared subgrade, have shown that the resilient responses followed by nonlinear, stress-dependent behavior under repeated wheel loading. This nonlinear behavior is commonly characterized by stress-dependent resilient modulus material models that need to be incorporated into finite element (FE) based mechanistic pavement analysis methods to predict more realistically predict pavement responses for a mechanistic pavement analysis. Developed user material subroutine using aforementioned resilient model with nonlinear solution technique and convergence scheme with proven performance were successfully employed in general-purpose FE program, ABAQUS. This numerical analysis was investigated in predicted critical responses and domain selection with specific mesh generation was implemented to evaluate better prediction of pavement responses. Results obtained from both axisymmetric and three-dimensional (3D) nonlinear FE analyses were compared and remarkable findings were described for nonlinear FE analysis. The UMAT subroutine performance was also validated with the instrumented full scale pavement test section study results from the Federal Aviation Administration's National Airport Pavement Test Facility (FAA's NAPTF).
PURPOSES : In this study, we analyzed the compressive strength characteristics of lean base concrete in relation to changes in the outdoor temperature after analyzing the cold and hot weather temperature standards and calculated the minimum and maximum temperatures when pouring concrete. We examined the rate of strength development of lean base concrete in relation to the temperature change and derived an appropriate analysis formula for FRC base structures by assigning the accumulated strength data and existing maturity formula. METHODS : We measured the strength changes at three curing temperatures (5, 20, and $35^{\circ}C$) by curing the concrete in a temperature range that covered the lowest temperature of the cold period, $5^{\circ}C$, to the highest temperature of the hot period, $35^{\circ}C$. We assigned the general lean concrete and FRC as test variables. A strength test was planned to measure the strength after 3, 5, 7, 14, and 28 days. RESULTS : According to the results of compressive strength tests of plain concrete and FRC in relation to curing temperature, the plain concrete had a compressive strength greater than 5 MPa at all curing temperatures on day 5 and satisfied the lean concrete standard. In the case of FRC, because the initial strength was substantially reduced as a result of a 30% substitution of fly ash, it did not satisfy the strength standard of 5 MPa when it was cured at $5^{\circ}C$ on day 7. In addition, because the fly ash in the FRC caused a Pozzolanic reaction with the progress into late age, the amount of strength development increased. In the case of a curing temperature of $20^{\circ}C$, the FRC strength was about 66% on day 3 compared with the plain concrete, but it is increased to about 77% on day 28. In the case of a curing temperature of $35^{\circ}C$, the FRC strength development rate was about 63% on day 3 compared with the plain concrete, but it increased to about 88% on day 28. CONCLUSIONS : We derived a strength analysis formula using the maturity temperatures with all the strength data and presented the point in time when it reached the base concrete standard, which was 5 MPa for each air temperature. We believe that our findings could be utilized as a reference in the construction of base concrete for a site during a cold or hot weather period.
We have carried out copper MOCVD(metalorganic chemical vapor deposition) onto the reactive sputtered PVD-TiN and rapid thermal converted RTP-TiN substrates using direct liquid injection for effective delivery of the (hfac)Cu(vtmos) [$C_{10}H_{13}O_{5}CuF_{6}$Si: 1,1,1,5,5,5-hexafluoro-2,4- pentadionato (vinyltrimethoxysilane) copper (I)] precursor. Especially, the influences of deposition conditions and the substrate type on growth rate, crystal structure, microstructure, and electrical resistivity of copper deposits have been discussed. It is found that the film growth with 0.2ccm precursor flow rate become mass-transfer controlled up to Ar flow rate of 200sccm and pick-up rate controlled at a vaporizer above 1.0Torr reactor pressure. The surface-reaction controlled region from 155 to 225$^{\circ}C$ at 0.6Torr reactor pressure results in the apparent activation energies of 12.7~14.1kcal/mol, and above 224$^{\circ}C$ the growth rate with $H_2$ addition could be improved compared to the pure Ar carrier. The Cu/RTP-TiN structures which have high copper nucleation density in initial stage of growth show more pronounced (111) preferred orientations and lower electrical resistivities than those on PVD-TiN. The variation of electrical resistivity with substrate temperature reflects the three types of film microstructure changes, showing the lowest value for the deposit at 165$^{\circ}C$ with small grains of good contacts.
Stability and mechanical deformation behavior of rock masses are highly dependent on the mechanical characteristics of contained discontinuities. Therefore, mechanical characteristics of the discontinuities should be considered in the design of tunnel and underground structures. In this study, direct shear tests for rough granite joints were carried out under constant normal stiffness conditions. Effects of initial normal stress, shear velocity, and surface roughness on the characteristics of shear strength and deformation behaviors were examined. Results of shear testing under constant normal stiffness conditions reveal that shear behaviors could be classified into two categories, based on the amount of decrease in shear stress at the Int peak shear stress. With initial normal stiffness increasing, it turned out that shear displacement at peak stress and the first peak shear stress increased, however friction angle and friction coefficient showed decrease. In case of shear stiffness and average friction coefficient, it turned out that they are not dependent on the initial normal stress. Minor effects of shear velocity on rough joints were observed in several shear quantities. However, the effects of shear velocity were insignificant regardless of the normal stress increase. Change of shear strength and deformation characteristics on joint roughness were examined, however, it turned out that the variations were attributed to deviation of shear test specimens.
The horizontal response spectra using the observed ground motions from the recent more than 19 macro earthquakes were analysed and then were compared to both the seismic design response spectra (Reg Guide 1.60), applied to the domestic nuclear power plants, and the Korean Standard Design Response Spectrum for general structures and buildings (1997). 130 horizontal ground motions, without considering soil types, were used for normalization with respect to the peak acceleration value of each ground motion. The results showed that response spectrum have strong dependency on epicentral distance. The results also showed that the horizontal response spectra revealed much higher values for frequency bands above 5 Hz than Reg. Guide (1.60). The results were also compared to the Korean Standard Response Spectrum for the 3 different soil types and showed that the vertical response spectra revealed much higher values for the frequency bands below 0.3 second than the Korean Standard Response Spectrum (SD soil condition). These spectral values dependent on frequency could be related to characteristics of the domestic crustal attenuation and the effect of each site amplification. However, through the qualitative improvements and quantitative enhancement of the observed ground motions, the conservation of horizontal seismic design response spectrum should be considered more significantly for the frequency bands above 5 Hz.
Endophytic Bacillus sp. CY22 was previously isolated from the interior of balloon flower root and showed strong antifungal activity against phytopathogenic fungi such as Rhizoctonia solnni, Fusarium oxysporum, and Phythium ultimum. Many Bacillus strains produce antifungal compound such as iturin, fengycin, and mycosubtilin. We isolated and identified antifungal compound from cell supernatant of the endophytic strain. By the MALDI-TOF mass result, the antifungal compound was similar to the known antifungal lipopeptide iturin. It was found that the purified iturin had three isoforms with protonated masses of m/z 1,043.39, 1,057.42, and 1,071.42 and different structures in combination with $Na^{+}$ ion using MALDI-TOF MS. The ita22 gene, which transacylase gene is associated with production of antifungal iturin, had an open reading frame (ORF) of 1,200 bp encoding 400 amino acids. Results of deduced amino acids sequence homology search, Ita22 was homologous with FenF (BAB69697) of Bacillus subtilis 168.

Curved beams are increasingly used in buildings, vehicles, ships, and aircraft, which has resulted in considerable effort towards developing an accurate method for analyzing the dynamic behavior of such structures. The stability behavior of elastic curved beams has been the subject of many investigations. Solutions to the relevant differential equations have traditionally been obtained by the standard finite difference or finite element methods. However, these techniques require a great deal of computer time for a large number of discrete nodes with conditions of complex geometry and loading. One efficient procedure for the solution of partial differential equations is the differential quadrature method (DQM). This method has been applied to many cases to overcome the difficulties of complex algorithms and high storage requirements for complex geometry and loading conditions. Out-of-plane buckling of curved beams with rotatory inertia were analyzed using DQM under uniformly distributed radial loads. Critical loads were calculated for the member with various parameter ratios, boundary conditions, and opening angles. The results were compared with exact results from other methods for available cases. The DQM used only a limited number of grid points and shows very good agreement with the exact results (less than 0.3% error). New results according to diverse variation are also suggested, which show important roles in the buckling behavior of curved beams and can be used for comparisons with other numerical solutions or experimental test data.

Recently, due to the importance of information security, security vulnerability analysis and various information protection technologies and security systems are being introduced as a countermeasure against cyber-attacks in new as well as existing buildings, and information security studies on high-rise buildings are also being conducted. However, security system introduction and research are generally performed from the viewpoint of general IT systems and security policies, so there is little consideration of the infrastructure of the building. In particular, the BAS or building infrastructure, is a closed system, unlike typical IT systems, but has unique structural features that accommodate open functions. Insufficient understanding of these system structures and functions when establishing a building security policy makes the information security policies for the BAS vulnerable and increases the likelihood that all of the components of the building will be exposed to malicious cyber-attacks via the BAS. In this paper, we propose an architecture reference model that integrates three different levels of BAS structure (from?) different vendors. The architectures derived from this study and the security characteristics and vulnerabilities at each level will contribute to the establishment of security policies that reflect the characteristics of the BAS and the improvement of the safety management of buildings.

Unusual precipitation caused by typhoons and severe rain stormscan threaten human life and property. Thus, various organizations prepare emergency action plans (EAPs) to provide proper guidelines for operators, experts, and emergency response personnel to protect and enhance critical infrastructure. For example, FEMA and DHS have various types of EAPs for dams, levees, and other structures to protect people and property. FEMA defines EAPs as official documents to decrease the damage and impact in emergency situations and to reduce casualties. These documents should consider all possible situations in an emergency and can reduce problems in facility management. This study analyzes EAPs for infrastructure from the USA, Japan, and Korea in order to suggest an ideal EAP framework. EAPcontent can include how to guide experts and operators in disaster stages (mitigation, preparedness, response, and recovery), how to operate emergency equipment, and how to protect critical infrastructure and life. The suggested EAP framework performed very well in a test location. It can therefore be used for infrastructure organizations in Korea and to inform of the appropriate processes and methods for risk reduction in flood disasters.
