Highly plastic clays in their normally consolidated state are not linear but are concave upwards. Thus their compression index deceases with the increase in consolidation pressure. Likeness the e - log ${\sigma}\;_{\upsilon}\;'$ curves of the silts are not linear but are convex upwards. In this paper, conducted consolidation test with four undisturbed field soil and found that their e - log ${\sigma}\;_{\upsilon}\;'$ plots are not linear. And analyzed difference of settlement between computed value with compression index($C_c$) and computed value with improved compression index($\mathbb{C}$).
In gradient-dependent plasticity theory, the yield strength depends on the Laplacian of an equivalent plastic strain measure (hardening parameter), and the consistency condition results in a differential equation with respect to the plastic multiplier. The plastic multiplier is then discretized in addition to the usual discretization of the displacements, and the consistency condition is solved simultaneously with the equilibrium equations. The disadvantage is that the plastic multiplier requires a Hermitian interpolation that has four degrees of freedom at each node. Instead of using a Hermitian interpolation, in this article, a 3-node incompatible (trigonometric) interpolation is proposed for the plastic multiplier. This incompatible interpolation uses only the function values of each node, but it is continuous across element boundaries and its second-order derivatives exist within the elements. It greatly reduces the degrees of freedom for a problem, and is shown through a numerical example on localization to yield good results.

S plastic injection molding factory located at Namdong Industrial Complex in Incheon produces plastic parts for semiconductor, vacuum cleaners, office furniture, etc. It produces the parts to customers' order and delivers them directly to customers at due dates using the trucks of freight company. In recent years, it has been suffered from the excessive production cost, high lost sales rate, rigid response to customers' order, and high delivery cost, which affect negatively on its profit. This paper introduces a case study on the profit increase through a newly proposed production and distribution method which applies a make-to-stock and multi-visit delivery strategy at S plastic injection molding factory. The proposed method is evaluated by comparing with the current method with respect to sales profit using the historical data of customer demand. It is confirmed through the computational experiments that the proposed production and distribution method yields almost double increase in profit resulted from the increased production, reduced lost sales, reduced production cost, and reduced delivery cost.
Currently, plastic gear is widely used as parts of office equipment and industrial machines, because plastic substance has an advantage of light weight and possible to operate in oil-fewer conditions. However, under cyclic loadings, their occurred repetitive deformation due to weak tensile strength and bending stress rather than metal gear. Furthermore, they have a problem of attrition and breakage owing to frictional heat. For solving these problems, when plastic gear's opponents are metal gear, we should design that plastic gear's tooth be thick and metal gear's tooth be thin. In this research, we developed the program which developing tooth profile of non-standard gears automatically and calculating over-pin diameter for inspection after making gear.

A simplified finite element analysis method is proposed to calculate elasto-plastic responses of general hardening materials. The method provides an effective tool to calculate structural elasto-plastic responses. Numerical examples have demonstrated that its computational efficiency is very much higher than that of the incremental elasto-plastic finite element analysis, and computational results are accurate enough to meet the need of engineering practice. Compared with the general elasto-plastic incremental finite element analysis, the proposed method can avoid the incremental iteration of nodal displacements and the constitutive equation integration at each Gauss integral point, and computational results are accurate enough to meet the need of engineering practice.

Experimental results on plastic strain induced in truning operation are presented in this paper. The plastic strain is computed by lagrangian strain using grid method, and metal cutting phenomena are also illustrated by micrograph and distribution figures of plastic strain and microvickers hardness of the machining surface. In the cutting of ductile materials, such as carbon steel, generally, the plastic strain is found to be concentrated near the surface. The amount of plastic strain increases with increasing cutting speed and feed rate. The dustribution of microvickers hardness is greater near the cutting surface and decreases from the machining surface under which its hardness returns to the normal hardness of the material.
Plastic gears are more and more widely used in many industrial machine elements. Plastic gear has higher properties such as light weight, wear resistance, and vibration absorbing ability than metallic gears. But, in case of using an inaccurate plastic gear, its tooth breakage happen and fatigue life is shortened due to increase of applying load and temperature rising on the tooth flank. Inaccuracy of plastic gears such as pitch circle roundness and tooth profile generates vibration and noise. In this study, an internal plastic gears which is molded by a new injection mold structure are developed. The new mold structure is called the HR3P(hot runner type 3plate mold) that has an improved runner system in order to have good filling balance. As a result from this study, an internal gear with very accurate roundness was developed by using design of experiment.

Determination of elastic properties of nano-scale materials using nano-indentation tests is well established, but that of plastic properties is not yet clear. This paper presents a method to extract plastic properties from nano-indentation test, together with results from detailed elastic-plastic FE analysis. It shows that the plastic properties determined from this method are not unique, in the sense that a number of different plastic properties can give the same load-displacement response from nano-indentation test. possible ways to overcome such problems are discussed.

Microcellular foaming is being researched as a method of maintaining and improving the mechanical characteristics of plastics as well as saving the material costs. This can not only improve the mechanical properties including impact strength of plastic by producing cells with the size of few ${\mu}$m diameters within the plastic, but also can save the material cost of plastic products with the general volumetric expansion of 2 to 10 times. But quite a long time is required for the gas to be absorbed in the plastic. Therefore consistent research should be done to reduce the saturation time of gas into the plastic and this paper provides the method of water microcellular foaming process as one of the methods using the high diffusivity of water. In addition, we can improve impact property of foamed plastic by using this method.
