In this study, four hundred and nine questionnaires were collected from employees of three manufacturing corporations in Michigan, U. S. In order to explore the causal interferences among multiple relationships suggested in this study, path analysis was employed using Lisrel 8.54. The results indicated that control over the physical environmental features of the workplace positively influenced job satisfaction. The findings also supported the hypothesis that flexibility is positively related to task group cohesiveness. It was found that distraction was negatively associated with control and flexibility. However, it was not supported that control was positively associated with perceived performance. This study found control and flexibility in the workplace to be important. Some practical implications were suggested emphasizing that control and flexibility allow limited resources to be used in ways that permit individuals to work effectively within a changing work environment.

  • The effects of job related factors on psychosocial health status were examined by taking job stress into account. The self-administered questionnaires were performed, during the period between Oct. 1st, 2009 and Nov. 30th, 2009, to 805 individuals in the service of general administration located in Daejeon City. Causal relationships between job related factors, job stress, and, psychosocial health status were examined by structural equation model. The main finding as follows: For correlations of such indices of psychosocial health status as PWI and MFS with various studied items, all of these two indices were found to be in a negative correlation with the job position, job career, satisfaction in job life, autonomy of job, supervisors support and coworkers support, whereas in positive correlation with the experience of sick absence per year and job demand. With the analysis of structural equation model, the degree of job stress factors was more influential on the level of psychosocial health status than job related factors in such a manner as that the greater the job stress, while the lower the job related factors, the higher the psychosocial health status(PWI and MFS). Moreover, it was found to have the inter-relational effects that the greater the job related factors, the lower the job stress factors. Thus the effective strategy for stress and fatigue symptoms reduction among governmental employees requires additional programs focusing on innovated job specifications.

  • Purpose: The aim of this study is to identify factors of Korean female workers' childbirth plans and to establish measures to improve the childbirth plan. Methods: Study subjects were selected part in the 1st, 3rd, and 5th year surveys of the Korean Longitudinal Panel Survey of Women and Families. The selection criteria were as follows: women who had a spouse; were salaried workers currently employed for the last one month; belonged to a childbearing age; and had less than 3 children. Logistic regression analysis was conducted to investigate factors associated with childbirth plans. Results: Childbirth plans by female workers decreased each year. The analysis of associated factors revealed that age, number of children were associated factors in all years. In addition, education, satisfaction about dividing household chores with the husband, and satisfaction about working environment were associated with the lack of planning for childbirth in female workers in the 1st survey year. Satisfaction about dividing household chores with the husband, family-work conflict, and satisfaction about the potential for personal development were associated factors in the 3rd survey year. Finally, family-work conflict, satisfaction about employment stability, and satisfaction about job task at work were associated factors in the 5th survey year.
