The Effect of Emotional Intelligence on Job Satisfaction: A Case Study of SME Management Consultants in Korea

  • SMEs are constantly demanded of changes in the rapidly-evolving business environment, which involves the fourth industrial revolution and the COVID-19 pandemic. In this period, management consulting service becomes more in demand to provide technical and strategic solutions for management problems. This study aimed to empirically analyze the direct effects of emotional intelligence on job satisfaction and the indirect effects of such parameters as learning agility and self-efficacy on job satisfaction in management consultants. On the basis of a literature review, inter-variable association was designed in the research model. Based on an online survey of those in the Korean SME management consultants, this study collected 221 questionnaires then used structural equation modeling for statistical analysis. The results reveal that emotional intelligence significantly affected job satisfaction and, also significantly positively affected learning agility and self-efficacy. In addition, a significant indirect correlation could be found between learning agility and self-efficacy. Meanwhile, if learning agility and self-efficacy mediated job satisfaction, emotional intelligence had no significant effect on job satisfaction and fully mediated learning agility and self-efficacy. It is necessary to develop an emotional intelligence education program that can help management consultants improve their emotional intelligence with the objective of giving successful management consulting services.

  • 본 연구는 감성지능과 직무성과 사이의 관계성을 보다 명확히 규명하기 위하여 자기효능감의 매개효과와 개인-상사 적합성의 조절효과를 측정하였다. 첫째로, 감성지능이 높을수록 직무성과가 높아 질 것으로 예측하였다. 둘째로, 감성지능과 직무성과의 관계에서 자기효능감을 통해 직무성과를 더 잘 예측할 것이라고 예상하였다. 셋째로, 감성지능과 자기효능감 사이의 관계에 있어서 개인-상사 적합성이 높을수록 자기효능감이 높아 질 것으로 예측하였다. 이러한 연구 가설을 검증하기 위해 기업에 종사하는 영업사원 173명을 대상으로 설문조사를 진행하였고 기존의 선행연구들을 토대로 가설을 설정하고 검증하였다. 실증분석 결과 감성지능이 높을수록 직무성과가 높을 것이라는 가설은 지지되었다. 또한 자기효능감의 매개효과를 통해 직무성과를 더 잘 예측할 것이라는 가설도 지지되었다. 마지막으로 감성지능과 자기효능감의 관계는 개인-상사 적합성이 높아질수록 강해지는 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구 결과에 대한 이론적, 실무적 시사점과 연구의 한계점 및 향후 연구방향을 제시하였다.

아버지의 양육행동 및 남아의 정서조절 능력과 공격성간의 관계 (Father′s Parenting Behavior, Son′s Emotional Regulation as Related to Son′s Aggression)

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the relations among Father's parenting behavior, Son's emotional regulation and Aggression. The subjects of this study were 191 male-students of 5th, 6th-grade living in Seoul and Kyoung-ki province. The data were collected via questionnaires. As results, Father's rewarding attitude toward Son's aggression was significantly related to Son's reactive aggression. And Father's coercive parenting was the most predictable variable for Son's relational aggression. It is suggested that father's parenting behavior is very important antecedent variables to predict children aggression as well as emotional regulation.

  • As medical service industry is transformed into the market centered on consumers, medical service quality patients recognize is emphasized as the powerful means to ensure competitive advantage among hospitals in the fierce medical markets. Many researches have been done on the definition of medical service quality, developing a scale to measure it, patient satisfaction, hospital repurchase and oral transmission intention, but integrated studies have not been done sufficiently on the patient' cognitive emotional aspects. For these research purposes, based on service relation, service quality, physical surroundings, human services, corporate reputation, service value, emotional response, customer satisfaction and repurchase intention, this paper suggests a theoretical modeling composed of hypotheses on the relations of each theoretical variable. In addition, the moderating effect of service relationships is investigated based on the structural equation model.

아동의 학교생활적응 관련 변인 연구 (Relevant Variables of Children's School Adjustment)

  • Variables studied in relation to children's school adjustment were child's sex, grade, and ego-resilience maternal employment, parents' age, parents' academic background, mother's emotional expressiveness, and monthly household income and perception of social support. Subjects were 548 4th, 5th and 6th grade students and their mothers. Results showed that children's school adjustment varied by child's grade in school and ego-resilience, parents' age, father's academic background, mother's emotional expressiveness and monthly household income. Children with higher ego-resilience, whose mothers showed more positive emotional expressiveness and who perceived more social support from peers, family, and teachers showed higher adjustment to school life. Among these, support of peers was the most significant variable.

Emotional Correlation Test from Binary Gender Perspective using Kansei Engineering Approach on IVML Prototype

  • This study examines the response of users' feelings from a gender perspective toward interactive video mobile learning (IVML). An IVML prototype was developed for the Android platform allowing users to install and make use of the app for m-learning purposes. This study aims to measure the level of feelings toward the IVML prototype and examine the differences in gender perspectives, identify the most responsive feelings between male, and female users as prominent feelings and measure the correlation between user-friendly feeling traits as an independent variable in accordance with gender attributes. The feelings response could then be extracted from the user experience, user interface, and human-computer interaction based on gender perspectives using the Kansei engineering approach as the measurement method. The statistical results demonstrated the different emotional reactions from a male and female perspective toward the IVML prototype may or may not have a correlation with the user-friendly trait, perhaps having a similar emotional response from one to another.

간호대학생의 자아존중감, 정서지능, 심리적 안녕감이 회복탄력성에 미치는 영향 (Effect of Self-Esteem, Emotional Intelligence and Psychological Well-Being on Resilience in Nursing Students)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate factors affecting resilience in nursing students. Methods: A survey was conducted with 200 nursing students at a college and a university in P city and K city. Data were collected from March 1 to 20, 2017, and analyzed with SPSS PASW 22.0. Results: In the hierarchical analysis, factors affecting resilience were emotional intelligence (${\beta}=.39$, p<.001), psychological well-being (${\beta}=.31$, p<.001), and self-esteem (${\beta}=.16$, p=.010). The variable that had the highest impact was emotional intelligence and the explanation power of the regression model was 65%(F=34.40 p<.001). Conclusion: The findings of this study indicate that emotional intelligence, psychological well-being, and self-esteem are essential for resilience in nursing students. Thus, enhancing emotional intelligence and psychological well-being would be an effective strategy to improve resilience in nursing students.

유튜브 활용 학습에 대한 기대일치, 인지적 태도, 정서적 태도가 유튜브 재이용 의향에 미치는 영향 (The Effect of Expected Consistency, Cognitive Attitude, and Emotional Attitude on Reuse Intention to Use YouTube Learning)

  • The purpose of this study was to verify the effect on learning using YouTube. The relationship between expectations, cognitive attitudes, emotional attitudes, and reuse intentions was explored. The results are as follows. First, the factors affecting the intention to reuse YouTube were emotional attitude and expectation. cognitive attitude did not show any significant effect. Second, cognitive attitude and expectation agreement were significant variables in emotional attitude. cognitive attitude was identified as a major factor affecting emotional attitude. Third, expectation agreement was found to have a significant influence on cognitive attitude. Therefore, expectancy is an important factor in identifying cognitive attitudes. In particular, the satisfaction of expectations after experiencing a new technology or system, such as YouTube, affects the cognitive attitude. Finally, the main findings of this study were that cognitive attitude was not a variable affecting the intention to reuse YouTube. The reason for this is that YouTube is used as a medium of interest, and it is not used as a medium for searching the main data source for learning. Therefore, in order to activate YouTube learning, it is necessary to convert recognition into YouTube for learning rather than YouTube for play.

문화적응스트레스 및 정서조절이 다문화가정 아동의 우울/불안에 미치는 영향 : 사회적 지지 매개효과를 중심으로 (Effects of Acculturative Stress and Emotional Control on Depression/Anxiety in Children from Multicultural Families: Mediating Effects of Social Support)

  • This study examines the mediating effects of social support on 1) the relationships between acculturative stress and depression/anxiety and 2) the relationships between emotional control and depression/anxiety in children from multicultural families. Pearson's correlations between variables were analyzed, and hierarchical regression analyses were conducted to identify direct and indirect effects of acculturative stress, emotional control, and social support on children's depression/anxiety. The sample included a total of 199 primary school students in grades 3 to 6 who lived in the Gwangju or Chonnam regions of Korea. First, there were positive correlations between acculturative stress and depression/anxiety and negative correlations between emotional control and social support. Second, social support from both peers and teachers partially mediated the relationships between acculturative stress and depression/anxiety. Third, social support from peers fully mediated the relationships between emotional control and depression/anxiety, and that from teachers partially mediated these relationships. The results suggest that social support from peers and teachers may reduce depression/anxiety in multicultural children as a mediating variable.

운동프로그램이 노인의 신체적, 생리적, 정서적 상태에 미치는 영향 (The Effect of an Exercise Program on the Physical, Physiological and Emotional Status of the Aged)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this research was to examine the effects of an exercise program on the physical, physiological, and emotional status of the aged. Method: This research adopted a nonequivalent control group pretest-posttest design. The subjects were 46 elders aged over 60 who were selected from those registered at three local health centers in G City, and 27 of them were assigned to the experimental group and 19 to the control group. The independent variable was the exercise program, and the dependent variables were physical status, physiological status, and emotional status. The exercise program was Performed for 60 minutes per time, 3 times a week and for 6 weeks. Data were collected from October to November, 2005. Result: Compared to the control group, the experimental group showed significant improvements in right lower extremity strength (F=46.119, p=.000), left lower extremity strength (F=53.265, p=.000) and waist flexibility (t=3.183, p=.003) as physical status, and in depression (t=-3.703, p=.001), perceived health status (t=4.821, p=.000), and self efficacy (t=3.866, p=.000) as emotional status. Conclusion: The results showed that the exercise program was effective in promoting the physical status, physiological status, and emotional status of the aged. Therefore, it is recommended to apply the program as a nursing intervention in clinical practice and education in communities.
