Primary fluorescence characteristics of ten standard solutions of organophosphates, sea water, and water from agricultural land were investigated by fluorescence contour. All the standard solutions of organophosphates has shown characteristics countours. Their emission maxima were shown between 296 nm and 437 nm. According to their numbers of emission maxima on the fluorescence contours, the organophosphates can be categorized in two different groups. Ateric and Diazinon are the first group with two emission maxima. DDVP with other seven standard organophosphates belong to the second group. The second group has two subgroups. One is characterized by the similar emission and excitation maxima, which are 310 nm and 280 nm, respectively. Those are DDVP, Hinosan, Kitazin, Locsion, Meta. The other sub-group shows quite different emission and excitation maxima from the first sub-group. They are Monopho, Thaconyl and Gropho and their emisson maxima were in far longer (437 nm) or shorter wavelength (296 nm). From agricutural samples, one of the investigated organophosphates was detetected by its characteristic retention time $(t_r=12min)$. HPIC-fluorescence data gave an additional parameter for differentiation between two organophosphates which has similar excitation and emission maxima.
We developed a novel depth-of-interaction positron emission tomography (PET) detector using wavelength shifting (WLS) fibers and optimized it. The optimization module was designed by using two scintillators and three WLS fibers and attaching a sensor to the end of the WLS fiber. Optimum combinations were obtained through the light collection efficiency and the light collection ratio between sensors depending on coupling materials and reflectors of scintillators, WLS fibers and sensors. The highest light collection efficiency and the light collection ratio between sensors were obtained in the combination of the epoxy (coupling materials)-diffuse reflector (scintillators)-specular reflector (WLS fibers).
In this study, we prepared and characterized a acrylate based UV-curable plastic scintillator. It was used co-polymers TMPTA, DHPA and Ultima $Gold^{TM}$ LLT organic scintillator. The emission spectrum of the plastic scintillator was located in the range of 380~520 nm, peaking at 423 nm. And the scintillator is more than 50% transparent in the range of 400~800 nm. The emission spectrum is well match to the quantum efficiency of photo-multiplier tube and the fast decay time of the scintillation is 12 ns, approximately. This scintillation material provides the possibility of combining 3D printing technology, and then the applications of the plastic scintillator may be expected in human dosimetry etc.
A spectrofluorimetric methods has been developed for the determination of carbaryl in an aqueous solution. The effects of excitation wavelength, concentration of surfactant, concentration of ethanol as cosurfactant and emission wavelength on the fluorescence intensity were investigated to find the optimum experimental conditions to determine carbaryl. The emission intensity of the carbayl was increased with addition of sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS) as a surfactant. The emission intensity of the carbaryl was further increased with addition of ethanol as a co-surfactant. The optimum conditions were 281 nm for excitation wavelength, $1.0{\times}10^{-2}mol/L$ SDS, 20% (v/v) ethanol and 349 nm for emission wavelength. Under the optimum conditions, the emission intensity increased with the carbaryl concentration in the range of $5{\times}10^{-7}$ to $1.0{\times}10^{-4}mol/L$ with a detection limit ($3{\sigma}$) of $1.1{\times}10^{-8}mol/L$. The resulting correlation coefficient of the working curve was 0.9996.
In this study we have investigated cathodoluminescence (CL) and structural properties of thin film $ZnGa_2O_4:Mn$ oxide phosphor by using field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM), atomic force microscopy (AFM), photoluminescence (PL), and cathodoluminescence. PL emission peaked at 506 nm was observed from the $ZnGa_2O_4:Mn$ phosphor target and it was attributed to the $^4T_1-^6A_1$ transition in $Mn^{2+}$ ion. The color coordinates of the emission were x = 0.09 and y = 0.67. The $ZnGa_2O_4:Mn$ films showed the excitation spectrum peaked at 294 nm by $Mn^{2+}$ ion absorption. It was found that the higher intensity of CL emission at 505 nm appears to result from the denser and closely-packed structure in $ZnGa_2O_4:Mn$ phosphor films deposited at lower pressures. The CL intensity did not show any systematic dependence on film surface roughness.

This paper is aimed at the development of a software that predicts the surface temperature profiles of three-dimensional objects on the ground by considering the spectral solar radiation through the atmosphere. The spectral solar radiation through the atmosphere is modeled by using the well-known LOWTRAN7 code which analyzes the detailed spectral transmission characteristics by considering the atmospheric gas layers. In this paper, the transient temperature distribution over a cylinder is calculated by using the semi-implicit method. The spectral radiative surface properties such as the absorptivity and emissivity of the objects are used to model the effects of the solar irradiation and the surface emission. Both the detailed spectral modeling and the simple total modeling for the solar radiation absorption show fairly good agreement with each other by showing less than 3% difference in surface temperature.
The dependance of degradation on the blue-peak wavelength is investigated with the blue light-emitting diode (LED) of InGaN/GaN with respect to the optical and the electrical characteristics of the devices. The LED devices emitting the blue-peak wavelength ranging from 437 nm to 452 nm is prepared to be stressed for a long aging time with three different currents of 60 mA, 75 mA and 90 mA, respectively. The degradation of optical intensity is observed with and without phosphor in the devices. The device without phosphor has been degraded significantly as the wavelength of blue-peak is decreased while the optical intensity of LED device with phosphor become less sensitive than that of device without phosphor. The electrical property does not depend on the emission peak wavelength. However, the series-resistance of LED device is slowly increased as the aging time is increased. The deformation of device is observed severely the short wavelength of blue-peak even with the same current since the short wavelength is absorbed substantially at the materials of device during the aging time. Consequently, in order to enhance the lifetime of LED devices, it is important to understand the optical degradation property of the materials against the specific wavelengths emitted from the blue chip.

A series of $Sr_{1-x}Ca_xGa_2S_4:Ce,Na$ phosphors have been synthesized by solid-state reaction. The photoluminescence and structural properties of $Sr_{1-x}Ca_xGa_2S_4:Ce,Na$ have been examined. The $Sr_{1-x}Ca_xGa_2S_4:Ce,Na$ phosphors have a strong absorption at 400 nm, which is the emission wavelength of a violet light emitting diode (LED). The emission peaks of $SrGa_2S_4:Ce,Na$are located at 448 nm and 485 nm. The partial replacement of Sr by Ca in $Sr_{1-x}Ca_xGa_2S_4:Ce,Na$ causes a red shift of emission wavelengths. The $Sr_{1-x}Ca_xGa_2S_4:Ce,Na$ can be used as blue emitting phosphors pumped by the violet LED for fabricating the multi-band white LED.
