  • Electronic cash is a digital signature issued by bank. If the concept of the distributed secret sharing and magic ink signature is introduced in the existing electronic cash system we can increase the security level and the availability of electronic cash system and trace the electronic cash itself and the owner of electronic cash which was issued anonymously to a user in case of illegal usage of electronic cash by users. If the trust is concentrated on one bank system. the problem of misuse of bank can be occurred. To solve this problem, the distributed secrete sharing scheme need to be introduced in electronic cash system. In this paper We propose a DSS(Digital Signature Standard) distributed magic ink signature scheme and a KCDSA(Korea Certificate-based Digital Signature Algorithm) distributed magic ink signature scheme using a verifiable secret sharing method. and we compare two methods with respect to the required computation amount for the generation of magic-ink signature.

  • Chaum's blind signature scheme is the typical withdrawal procedure of electronic cash. In blind signature scheme, a signer sign a document while he never knows the content of the signed document. Yung and Jakobsson presented new signature scheme with which the content of document can be unblinded if unusual activity is detected. This signature is referred to as the magic ink signature. In this paper, we analyze the magic ink signature, and present two new magic ink signature schemes using KCDSA and Schnorr signature algorithm. We propose two types of the efficient electonic cash system using these magic ink signature schemes. One is the electronic cash system with a single server magic init signature scheme, and the other is the electronic cash system with a distributed magic ink signature scheme.

  • Electronic ink is multimedia data that have emerged from the development of pen-based computers such as PDAs whose major input device is a stylus pen. Recently with the development and supply of pen-based mobile computers, the necessity of data processing techniques of electronic ink has increased. Techniques to develop a gesture-allowed text editor in electronic ink domain were studied in this paper. Gesture and electronic ink data are a promising feature of pen-based user interface, but they have not yet been fully exploited. A new gesture recognition algorithm to identify pen gestures and a segmentation method for electronic ink to execute gesture commands were proposed. An electronic ink editor, called GesEdit was developed using proposed algorithms. The gesture recognition algorithm is based on eight features of input strokes. Convex hull and input time have been used to segment electronic ink data into GC(Gesture Components) unit. A variety of experiments by ten people showed that the average recognition rate reached 99.6% for nine gestures.

  • We propose a three-electrode type electronic paper display and its fabrication process to realize single color at the same display panel. We establish a fabrication process with the mixing of electronic ink, loading of this ink, electronic ink assembly, packaging and driving. Also, we discuss an operating principle of this panel and the induced image reversal phenomenon by electric field area of the lower electrodes. This phenomenon is not occurred for the panel having $10{\mu}m$ electrode space. By this pixelation structure like this three-electronic paper display, a single color realization without color filter is possible and various kind of color is defined by a dye selection for charged particles and electrically neutral fluid.

  • An electronic paper display was fabricated by injecting electronic ink, including white and black particles coated by positive and negative charge control agents (CCA), respectively, into closed cells surrounded by micro-barriers. These two types of charged, colored particles are easily damaged or their charging value can be changed by the injection process; therefore, the electrical and optical properties of the image panel fabricated by the injection method were estimated in this study. The active particle-loading method, proposed as a new electronic ink injection process, was applied, and the electro-optical properties of the resulting three-electrode-type e-paper image panel were analyzed. The reflection rate of the white image-panel fabricated with our new injection method was 24.7%, while that of the same panel fabricated with a previously reported injection method was 19.8%. In addition, the response time was improved by about five times compared to those reported in other publications.

  • We analyzed the drift current by charged particles according to the loading methods applied into a closed cell by electronic ink at a reflective-type display panel using an electrophoretic mechanism. For this experiment, various panels were fabricated with injection voltages for electronic ink taking values in the range -4~0 V. The size of each cell was 220 ㎛ × 220 ㎛ and height of the barrier rib was 54.28 ㎛. The electronic ink was fabricated by mixing electrically neutral fluid and single-charge white particles. Drift current was measured by moving charged particles. A biasing voltage of 6 V was applied to the display panel. As a result, the drift current was proportional to the injection voltage for electronic ink, but it decreased in case of an injection voltage above -3 V. Our experimentation ascertained that the concentration of charged particles injected into closed cells is controlled by the injection voltage and the selective injection of charged particles above movable q/m is possible.

  • We propose a fabrication process of a 3-electrode type reflective display and ascertain the realized color panel. The first design is proceeded with basis on Ti electrode for fast panel fabrication, easy align process, and high reflection of a white image. To observe the particle movement at the lower electrodes and optimize the space between electrodes, we design the second patterns, from which we establish a fabrication process with the mixing of electronic ink, loading of this ink, electronic ink assembly, driving, and packaging. After aging process, we ascertain a normally driving panel with black, white, and blue color.

  • For decades, the pursuit of volume commercialization of low-power reflective displays with a paper-like look has been an unfulfilled dream. While steady technical progress was made throughout the late 1990s, there were still no volume products incorporating electronic paper displays (EPD) on the market. Now, microencapsulated electrophoretic display technology, also called electronic ink, has moved into volume production with a frontplane laminate (FPL) display component called E Ink Imaging Film™. This film is coated roll to roll on a flexible plastic substrate and integrated into a display module. Today, all-plastic segmented displays are being shipped as well as displays with electronic ink FPL being driven by glass TFT backplanes. A roadmap to active matrix flexible electrophoretic displays is being enabled by rapid technical progress on flexible TFT backplanes by a variety companies. Each of the approaches to these backplanes and flexible active matrix displays has different advantages for the various market segments being pursued including large format flexible displays for e-news and other reader applications, rollable displays for compact readers, and high resolution small format displays up to 400 ppi that can have fully integrated drive electronics to reduce size and drive down costs. Backplane approaches include Si on plastic, organic transistors on plastic, and Si transistors on flexible stainless steel substrate. Progress is also being made on next generation inks, including more reflective inks with higher contrast ratios. A full color 6 inch, 170 pixel per inch (PPI) active matrix display using a newer generation ink has been developed and this will be described and demonstrated. Large format segmented flexible displays will also be described.
