  • In this paper, when a robust active noise controller for a small cavity to control the noise induced in the cavity is designed, the Graphical method based on the robust stability and performance requirements is studied. The problem of designing controller that achieve these robust performance conditions is related to minimizing the $H_{\infty}$ norm of the mixed sensitivity function by using $H_{\infty}$ control theory. Also, For design the controller, the loopshaping method which control the weight functions to satisfy the design specification without loss of a robust performance can be used. Therefore, we determined the acceptable design specification with the system characteristics of the small cavity and obtained its robust controller with the robust performance specifications by stability margin.

  • This paper describes insulation design and its reliability evaluation of ${\pm}80kV$ HVDC XLPE cable. Recently, the construction of HVDC transmission system, which is combined overhead line with underground cable, has been completed. This system is installed with existing 154 kV AC transmission line on the same tower. In this paper, the lightning transient analysis is firstly reviewed for selection of basic impulse insulation level and nominal insulation thickness. Then the electrical performance tests including load cycle test and superimposed impulse test based on CIGRE TB 496 are performed to evaluate the reliability of newly designed HVDC cable. There is no breakdown for ${\pm}80kV$ HVDC XLPE cable during electrical performance test. Finally, this system is installed in Jeju island based on successful electrical performance test (Type test). After installation tests are also successfully completed.

  • In this paper, we study on how to determine the number of hidden layer neurons in neural network for predicting defect size of steam generator tube. It was reported in the literature that the number of hidden layer neurons can be efficiently determined with the help of cross-validation. Although the cross-validation provides decent estimation performance in most cases, the performance depends on the selection of validation set and rather poor performance may be led to in some cases. In order to avoid such a problem, we propose to use multifold cross-validation. Through the simulation study, it is shown that the estimation performance of defect width (defect depth, respectively) attains 94% (99.4%, respectively) of the best performance achievable among the considered neuron numbers.

  • This paper describes the improvement in performance of power amplifiers by Defected Ground Structure (DGS) for several operating classes. Due to its excellent capability of harmonic rejection, DGS plays a threat role in improving the main performance of power amplifiers such as output power, power added efficiency, harmonic rejection, and intermodulation distortion (IMD3). In order to verify the improvement in performance of power amplifiers by DGS, measured data for a 30 Watts power amplifier with and without DGS attached under several operating classes are illustrated and compared. The principle of the performance improvement is described with simple Volterra nonlinear transfer functions. Also, the measured performance far two cases, i.e. with and without DGS, and the quantities of improvement fur the various operating classes are compared and discussed.

  • To meet the scalability and performance requirements of data analyses, which often involve voluminous data, efficient parallel or concurrent algorithms and frameworks are essential. We present a high-performance Korean morphological analyzer which employs the MapReduce framework on the graphics processing unit (GPU). MapReduce is a programming framework introduced by Google to aid the development of web search applications on a large number of central processing units (CPUs). GPUs are designed as a special-purpose co-processor. Their programming interfaces are typically formulated for graphics applications. Compared to CPUs, GPUs have greater computation power and memory bandwidth; however, GPUs are more difficult to program because of the design of their architectures. The performance of the Korean morphological analyzer using the MapReduce framework on the GPU is evaluated in comparison with the CPU-based model. The proposed Korean Morphological analyzer shows promising scalable performance on distributed computing with the GPU.

  • For high performance induction motor drives such as mill drives, elevator, spindle drive, NC and so on, smart speed controls is usually required, that requires a precise current control. This paper is proposes design of fuzzy controller which makes use of the output voltage of the space vector PWM inverter. Also, proposes the performance fuzzy controller for high performance vector control of induction motor drive system. The performance of a fuzzy controller is compared with that of an PI controller in an internal loop. The validity of the proposed technique is confirmed by simulation results for induction motor drive system.

  • Short execution time is the major performance factor for computer systems. This performance factor is directly determined by code quality, which is influenced by the compiler's optimizations. However, a compiler has limitations when optimizing source code due to insufficient information. Thus, if programmers can learn the reasons why a compiler fails to apply optimizations, they can rewrite code that is more easily understood by the compiler, and thus improve performance. In this paper, we propose a compiler that provides a programmer with reasons for failed optimization and recognizes programmer's additional information to obtain better optimization. As a result, we obtain performance improvement, i.e., reducing execution time and code size, by taking advantage of additional optimization opportunities.

  • This paper proposes the method which is improved a performance of PO MPPT control in PV system. The PO method is continually changed voltage toward direction that increases power, and if output power is decreased by changing voltage, a power of the conventional PO method is changed to a power before one step. These operations causes reduce of MPPT performance. Therefore, this paper proposes the MPPT method that can be improved the performance of the conventional PO method. When voltage is changed to direction of reducing power, the method proposed in this paper is changed to the voltage the opposite direction of twice step size. The MPPT performance of proposed method in this paper is compared with conventional PO method and proved the validity of this paper using these results.

  • High-performance Current Source Inverter (CSI)-fed, variable speed alternating current drives are prepared for various industrial applications. CSI-fed Induction Motor (IM) drives are managed by using different control methods. Noteworthy methods include scalar Control (V/f), Input-Output Linearization (IOL) control, Field-Oriented Control (FOC), and Direct Torque Control (DTC). The objective of this work is to compare the dynamic performance of the aforementioned drive control methods for CSI-fed IM drives. The dynamic performance results of the proposed drives are individually analyzed through sensitivity tests. The tests selected for the comparison are step changes in the reference speed and torque of the motor drive. The operation and performance of different vector control methods are verified through simulations with MATLAB/Simulink and experimental results.
