  • This paper presents an attempt to develop probabilistic multistress life models to evaluate the lifetime characteristics of epoxy-encapsulated magnet wire with heavy build polyurethane enamel. A set of accelerated life tests were conducted over a wide range of pulsating voltages, temperatures, and frequencies. Samples of fine gauge twisted pairs of the encapsulated magnet wire were tested us-ing a pulse endurance dielectric test system. An electrical-thermal lifetime function was combined with the Weibull distribution of lifetimes. The parameters of the combined Weibull-electrical-thermal model were estimated using maximum likelihood estimation. Likewise, a generalized electrical-thermal-frequency life model was also developed. The parameters of this new model were estimated using multiple linear regression technique. It was found in this paper that lifetime estimates of the two proposed probabilistic multistress life models are good enough. This suggests the suitability of using the general electrical-thermal-frequency model to estimate the lifetime of the encapsulated magnet wire over a wide range of voltages, temperatures and pulsating frequencies.

  • Based on the average method and the geometrical technique to calculate the average value, the average model of the open-loop step-up converter in CCM operation is established. The DC equilibrium point and corresponding small signal model is derived. The control-to-output transfer function is presented and analyzed. The theoretical analysis and PSIM simulations shows that the control-to-output transfer function includes not only the DC input voltage and the DC duty cycle, but also the two inductors, the two energy-transferring capacitors, the switching frequency and the load. Finally, the hardware circuit is designed, and the circuit experimental results are given to confirm the effectiveness of theoretical derivations and analysis.

  • In this thesis, speaker separation is employed when speech from two talkers has been summed into one signal and it is desirable to recover one or both of the speech signals from the composite signal. This paper proposed the method that separated the summed speeches and proved the similarity between the signals by the cross correlation between the signals for exact between original signal and separated signal. This paper uses frequency sampling method based on sinusoidal model to separate the composite signal with vocalic speech and vocalic speech and noise masking method based on psycoacoustics model to separate the composite signal with vocalic speech and nonvocalic speech.

  • When a failure occurs in active distribution system, it will be isolated through the action of circuit breakers and sectionalizing switches. As a result, the network might be divided into several connected components, in which distributed generations could supply power for customers. Aimed at decreasing customer interruption cost, this paper proposes a theoretically optimal island partition model for such connected components, and a simplified but more practical model is also derived. The model aims to calculate a dynamic island partition schedule during the failure recovery time period, instead of a static islanding status. Fluctuation and stochastic characteristics of the renewable distributed generations and loads are considered, and the interruption cost functions of the loads are fitted. To solve the optimization model, a heuristic search algorithm based on the hill climbing method is proposed. The effectiveness of the proposed model and algorithm is evaluated by comparing with an existing static island partitioning model and intelligent algorithms, respectively.

  • Control of interior permanent magnet (IPMSM) is difficult because its nonlinearity and parameter uncertainty. In this paper, a fuzzy c-regression models clustering algorithm which is based on T-S fuzzy is used to model IPMSM with a series linear model and weight them by memberships. Lagrangian of constrained function is built for calculating clustering centers where training output data are considered. Based on these clustering centers, least square method is applied for T-S fuzzy linear model parameters. As a result, IPMSM can be modeled as T-S fuzzy model for T-S fuzzy control of them.

  • Because of the rapidly changing environment and high uncertainties, the semiconductor industry is in need of appropriate forecasting technology. In particular, both the cost and time in the test process are increasing because the process becomes complicated and there are more factors to consider. In this paper, we propose a prediction model that predicts a final "good" or "bad" on the basis of preconditioning test data generated in the semiconductor test process. The proposed prediction model solves the classification and regression problems that are often dealt with in the semiconductor process and constructs a reliable prediction model. We also implemented a prediction model through various machine learning algorithms. We compared the performance of the prediction models constructed through each algorithm. Actual data of the semiconductor test process was used for accurate prediction model construction and effective test verification.

  • This paper illustrates a new fuzzy effective load model for probabilistic and fuzzy production cost simulation of the load point of the composite power system. A model for reliability evaluation of a transmission system using the fuzzy set theory is proposed for considering the flexibility or ambiguity of capacity limitation and overload of transmission lines, which are subjective matter characteristics. A conventional probabilistic approach was also used to model the uncertainties related to the objective matters for forced outage rates of generators and transmission lines in the new model. The methodology is formulated in order to consider the flexibility or ambiguity of load forecasting as well as capacity limitation and overload of transmission lines. It is expected that the Fuzzy CMELDC (CoMposite power system Effective Load Duration Curve) proposed in this study will provide some solutions to many problems based on nodal and decentralized operation and control of an electric power systems in a competitive environment in the future. The characteristics of this new model are illustrated by some case studies of a very simple test system.

  • Assessment of setting process of concrete is important as it provides useful information to schedule concreting work in construction site. Electrical impedance measurement method, which utilizes the change of electrical resistance of concrete, has been applied to assess setting process of cement-based materials. However, the applicability of the method has been demonstrated only for cement paste and mortar. The main purpose of this research is to develop the electrical impedance based setting process assessment for concrete. To this end, electrical impedance response model for concrete should be developed in advance since it is essential to estimate the electrical resistance of concrete from measured impedance response. The electrical resistance of concrete is a key parameter for the setting process assessment. In this study electrical impedance responses of the concrete in setting process are measured and analyzed. Thereby, an electrical impedance response model of the liquid state concrete is developed and schematically validated.

  • This paper proposes a new methodology for evaluating the probabilistic reliability based grid expansion planning of composite power system including the Wind Turbine Generators. The proposed model includes capacity limitations and uncertainties of the generators and transmission lines. It proposes to handle the uncertainties of system elements (generators, lines, transformers and wind resources of WTG, etc.) by a Composite power system Equivalent Load Duration Curve (CMELDC)-based model considering wind turbine generators (WTG). The model is derived from a nodal equivalent load duration curve based on an effective nodal load model including WTGs. Several scenarios are used to choose the optimal solution among various scenarios featuring new candidate lines. The characteristics and effectiveness of this simulation model are illustrated by case study using Jeju power system in South Korea.

  • The simulation model of All-Electric-Ship consists of electrical and mechanical systems. Running the total simulation requires considerable time and causes a lack of computer memory, because the two systems have different dynamic characteristics. Therefore, integrated simulation is practically impossible. This paper proposes the simplified model of electrical system to reduce simulation time significantly, compared to the detailed model. The validity of the proposed simplified model is verified by comparing detailed and simplified simulation results. Thus, the simplified models are applied to the integrated system. As a result, total system simulation can be implemented.
