  • In this paper, A technique for detecting contact loss at the input power of a railway vehicle has been studied when the contact loss occurs in the feed system. The impedance of the actual railway line was applied to the modeling of the feed system, and modeling was performed based on the performance of the electric railway vehicle. The input voltage and current of the railway vehicle through modeling were analyzed by applying TEO and STFT signal processing technique.

  • The primary objective of this paper is to examine the capacity of electrical transmission in electric railway feeding system. Although supply capacity of railway substation are sufficient and there is no accident, due to the electrical transmission limit of feeding line the voltage breakdown may occur when large capacity of electric load at feeding line exist. So, using multi-port analysis model, we draw P-V curve due to the length of feeding line, load, location and power factor of electric locomotive. And through case study, compare measurement result and simulation result

  • This paper have been dealt with the analysis for energy efficiency improvement effect of unity storage capacity as a part of the energy storage application study to improve energy efficiency in the electric railway systems. Especially, in order to estimate the amount of energy saving according to the variation of power capacity of each storage, the current limit module was mounted on an existing DC electric railway loadflow program which is based on the analysis model for railway system and storages, and combined optimization algorithm to determine optimal voltage boundary.

  • Each feeding power is transformed 3 phases of KEPCO through SCOTT transformer and operate a electric train in AC Feeding system of electric railway. Nowaday a power conversion system, installed inside the train, generate a harmonics and has a effect on a power quality and it is necessary to install a countermeasures. This report is proposed a new technique to simulate a power system based on frequency model. The result is resonable relatively with a experimental one.

  • The safe operation of electro railways is greatly dependant on its protective systems. The system so-called Fault Protection Wire(FW) is now widely adapted to protect in AT feeding systems. It is connected between the feeder and trolley circuit to return the fault current to autotransfonmers at substation. This paper computed the distribution of fault currents at FW in the system and also evaluated the safety from electric shock when ground fault or flashover occur in the feeding system. The results show FW is useful to protect power supply network from fault in electric railways

  • In this paper, fuel cell power generation system that is being studied in recent railway field was applied to compensate for the voltage drop due to the load as driving electric vehicle. PSIM simulation program is to be used to implement the modeling of the electric railway for AC AT feeder system. For it, It was applied to the product-type single-phase PLL algorithm, step-down converter is controlled as power so as to have the fuelcell generation system. Based on it's result, a reactive power due to the catenary impedance in accordance with the current flowing is compensated as linked with fuelcell generation system which supplied the current to the power supply grid. and then its performance was confirmed that voltage compensation effect obtained at SubStation (SS), SubSectioning Post (SSP), Sectioning Post (SP).

  • We propose an optical-based measuring instrument of catenary system in electric railway. This system was made to utilize line scan camera as inspecting system to measure the stagger and height of overhead contact wire in railway and composed with optical type source and FPGA-based image acquisition system with PCI slot. Vision acquisition software has been used for the application to programming interface for image acquisition, display, and storage with a frequency of sampling. To check the validity of our approach for the intended application, we monitored height and stagger in the overhead wire of a high-speed catenary system in Korea. The proposed optical-based measuring instrument to measure the contact wire geometry such as the hight and stagger shows promising on-field applications for online condition motoring. We expect that a new generation of real-time instruments with demanding various conditions motoring requirement in railway can be easily integrated into optical-based measuring instrument system.

  • The harmonics in railway high voltage system is due to common use of 3 phase incoming bus and doing the power converter for traction system on the electric car(or electric locomotive). This paper, we analyze the harmonics mechanism and characteristics of railway high voltage system, also we analyze the problem according to the actual measurement about influence of harmonicsontherailwayhighvoltagesystem. And we proved the countermeasure device(passive filter or L-C filter) of harmonics applies in the field. The test result, we have know that the filter is not fit. Consequently, The countermeasure of harmonics for the railway high voltage system be able to resolve by another filter.

  • In reference to this study, Part Ⅰ showed how the system respond to the harmonics originated from electric locomotives. That is, the system response to the harmonics was derived by computational algorithm with numerical formulas in theoretical aspects. However, Real catenary system has complex configuration of conductors and it is an important point that if we can consider the circuit element of catenary conductors as an uniformly distributed RLC element. Moreover, harmonic characteristics in electric locomotive depend on its operational modes. From these point of view, measurements of harmonics are performed for real railway power supply systems under the various operational modes, and spectrum and distortion analyses in measurement data are described.
