  • This paper presents a parameterized simulation program with integrated circuit emphasis (SPICE) model of a two-level microbolometer based on negative-temperature-coefficient thin films, such as vanadium oxide or amorphous silicon. The proposed modeling begins from the electric-thermal analogy and is realized on the SPICE modeling environment. The model consists of parametric components whose parameters are material properties and physical dimensions, and can be used for the fast design study, as well as for the co-design with the readout integrated circuit. The developed model was verified by comparing the obtained results with those from finite element method simulations for three design cases. The thermal conductance and the thermal capacity, key performance parameters of a microbolometer, showed the average difference of only 4.77% and 8.65%, respectively.

  • In this paper, we propose an ESD protection circuit that applies structural changes to LVTSCR, a general low-voltage ESD protection circuit, to improve the current driving capability (IEC-ESD) characteristics of the ESD protection circuit. Power consumption was minimized by separating the area where the electric field and ESD current path are formed in the LVTSCR structure, and the electrical characteristics were analyzed and current driving characteristics were improved. Structural problems resulting from deterioration of system level characteristics were analyzed through simulation, and the characteristics were verified by reflecting this. The electrical characteristics of the proposed ESD protection circuit were verified using a TCAD simulator and analyzed through HBM modeling and system level modeling. In addition, silicon production and HBM 10kV characteristics were verified through DB-Hitek 0.18um BCD process.

  • In this paper an identification method is presented to obtain the equivalent electric circuit model of a wideband underwater acoustic piezoelectric vibrator. Unknown parameters involved in the equivalent circuit are indentified using the measured electrical admittances in air. The proposed method is applied to an example transducer. The validity of equivalent circuit model is demonstrated by the comparison between the experimental measurements and analytical calculations of TVR(transmitting voltage response) in water.

  • This paper focuses on the electrical modeling techniques of renewable energy sources and storage devices such as batteries, fuel cells (FCs), photovoltaic (PVs) arrays, ultra-capacitors (UCs), and flywheel energy storage systems (FESS). All of these devices are being investigated recently for their typical storage and supply capabilities for various industrial applications. Hence, these devices must be modeled precisely taking into account the concerned practical issues. An obvious advantage of electrically modeling these renewable energy sources and storage devices is the fact that they can easily be simulated in real-time in any CAD simulation program. This paper reviews several types of suitable models for each of the above-mentioned devices and the most appropriate model amongst them is presented. Furthermore, a few important applications of these devices shall also be highlighted.

  • This paper presents a method to identify the equivalent circuit parameters by experiment results of supercapacitor model based on transmission line. In order to validate this method, a model of supercapacitor is verified and implemented by using the PSIM software. Experimental and simulation results are compared to verify the electric modeling of supercapacitors.

  • Although Equvalent Magnetic Circuit (EMC) method. Using lumped parameter and numerical analysis method are widely used for electric machine analysis. these are neither always accurate enough nor sometimes available to easily use. Moreover three dimensional finite element method (3D-FEM) is inherently unsuitable for electric machine performance evaluation due to its poor computational efficiency, such as too long calculation time and difficulty in modeling for analysis. In this paper, Nonlinear Equivalent Magnetic Circuit (NEMC) method in combination with 2D-FEM is proposed to analyze the electric machine requiring 3D-FEM, and this method applys to torque evaluation for rotary actuator of Electro Magnetic Electronic Controller Power Steering (EM-ECPS).

  • Shunt reactor, a facility for reactive power compensation, is switched several times a day depending on the load pattern. When the circuitbreaker opens the shunt reactor over-voltage is generated by several factors which degrade the insulating performance of internal parts of the circuit-breaker and cause severe voltage stress on the equipment in the power system. Transient phenomenon occurring during the switching of shunt reactor are available in laboratories that verify the performance of the circuit-breaker by simulating the power system. However, it is difficult to measure the transient phenomenon that occurs during actual operation in actual power system due to many limitations. Therefore, this paper deals with the modeling using EMTP to analyze the reignition and current chopping which causes more severe transient recovery voltage in the small inductive current breaking in actual power systems. In addition, this paper analyzes the main phenomenon that cause circuit-breaker failure in opening shunt reactor using EMTP model.

  • This paper analyzes characteristics of PMLSM using 3 dimensional equivalent magnetic circuit network method (3-D EMC). PMLSM of which the effective electric-airgap is not only very large, but also the width is finite width lateral edges has much leakage flux. Therefore, 2-D analysis method cannot consider it so carefully that 3-D analysis method must required. 3-D EMC which will be used for analysis of PMLSM performs modeling of it including solt and teeth structure, uses the magnetic motive force of stator winding and permanent magnet as source. and calculates magnetic flux density and force considering nonlinear characteristics of materials. we verified analysis validity by comparing simulation results with expermental results.

  • Electrical modeling of lithium-polymer battery is very important for electric energy supply system. In this paper, electric equivalent circuit of lithium-polymer battery is proposed to simulate its dynamic characteristics. Maccor 8500 charge/discharge system is used to obtain the experimental data of lithium-polymer battery. Model parameters are calculated by using Matlab. This paper defines a R-C model for charging/discharging of battery and polynomial functions are used for OCV (Open Circuit Voltage) modeling. The proposed model is simulated with PSiM and then compared the simulation results with the experimental results to verify the validity of the proposed model.
