In prestressed concrete structures, determining serviceability and safety it is important to exactly calculate effective prestress force acting on structures. for the determination of effective prestress force, friction loss of the prestressing tendon should be decided exactly, but it is very difficult to measure the exact prestress force on the site and there is no actual field data. Therefore the friction loss coefficient recommended by the specification is not verified. in this paper, the friction loss standard PSC-Beam will be investigated, and is will be found what kind of relationship between the specification and the site. The results from this study can be summarized as follows. For jacking at both ends, actual intial prestress force in the center section of PCS-Beam was about 1.61% larger than theoretical initial prestress force and for hacking at one end, actual initial prestress force was approximate 4.9% lower than theoretical initial prestress force. Thus, for the exact calculation of friction loss, friction coefficient should be modified according to jacking methods.

The bonded tendon was adopted to the reactor building of some operating nuclear power plants in Korea and the assessment of the effective prestress force on the bonded tendon is being issued as an important pending problem for continuous operation beyond their design life. The sensitivity analysis of various parameters was carried out to evaluate the effective prestress force using the system identification technique and the optimal parameters were determined for SI technique in this study. The 1/5 scaled post-tensioned concrete beams with the bonded tendon type were manufactured and in order to investigate the relationship of the natural frequency and the displacement to the effective prestress force, impact test, SIMO sine sweep test and bending test using the optical fiber sensor and the compact displacement transducer were carried out. As a result of tests, both the natural frequency and the displacement show the good relationship with the effective prestress force and both parameters are available for the SI technique to estimate the effective prestress force.
This study is the developed prediction of residual effective prestress force of prestressed concrete beam bridges. Developed prediction method is based on the center camber of prestressed concrete beam, structural design. report of various PSC beams, construction reference materials of PSC beams. Evaluation of residual effective prestress force by developed method is compared with evaluation by structural design. This comparison results shows that this developed method is very effective method. Therefore prediction of residual effective prestress force by this developed method will be used for evaluation of the rating of various PSC beam bridges(road bridges and railway bridges).
This study is the evaluation of rating of railway prestressed concrete beam bridges by prediction of residual effective prestress force. Therefore, developed prediction method is based on the center camber of prestressed concrete beam, structural design report of various PSC beams, construction reference materials of PSC beams. Both rating evaluation and residual effective prestress force by developed method is compared with evaluation by structural design. This comparison results shows that this developed method is very effective method. Therefore evaluation of rating by prediction of residual effective prestress force will be used for evaluation of the rating of railway PSC beam bridges.
To evaluate the structural integrity of the NPP containment building more rigorously, the effective prestress, which is one of the most affecting elements, needs to be estimated exactly. This paper presents the results of an experimental study to determine the effective prestress force in prestressed concrete beams. It is possible to improve the effective prestress measuring method by test beam, which is being applied for the investigation of the nuclear power plant in operation. If experimentally evaluated Lift-Off method in this study can be coupled with test beam test currently being used in in-service nuclear power plant, it is possible to measure prestress loss of the tendon and the level of the effective prestress load.

Nowadays, many of PSC bridges has constructed because high performance and long span bridge is required. Therefore, it is required that the evaluation of PSC bridges which retain various structure performance. In this study, nonlinear FEM analysis was performed with two parameter, concrete compressive strength and effective prestress force which is dominant factor for evaluating structural behavior of PSC bridge. Concrete compressive strength was adapted between 30Mpa and 100Mpa and effective prestress force was used the value which is considered effective rate for time-dependant effect. In the result of this study, it was showed that concrete compressive strength and effective prestress force is important factor for evaluating structural behavior of PSC bridge.

A specially designed tendon, which is proposed by embedding an FBG sensor into the center king cable of a 7-wire strand tendon, was applied to monitor the prestress force and load transfer of ground anchor. A series of tensile tests and a model pullout test were performed to verify the feasibility of the proposed smart tendon as a measuring sensor of tension force and load transfer along the tendon. The smart tendon has proven to be very effective for monitoring prestress force and load transfer by measuring the strain change of the tendon at the free part and the fixed part of ground anchor, respectively. Two 11.5 m long proto-type ground anchors were made simply by replacing a tendon with the proposed smart tendon and prestress forces of each anchor were monitored during the loading-unloading step using both FBG sensor embedded in the smart tendon and the conventional load cell. By comparing the prestress forces measured by the smart tendon and load cell, it was found that the prestress force monitored from the FBG sensor located at the free part is comparable to that measured from the conventional load cell. Furthermore, the load transfer of prestressing force at the tendon-grout interface was clearly measured from the FBGs distributed along the fixed part. From these pullout tests, the proposed smart tendon is not only expected to be an alternative monitoring tool for measuring prestress force from the introducing stage to the long-term period for health monitoring of the ground anchor but also can be used to improve design practice through determining the economic fixed length by practically measuring the load transfer depth.

Nowadays various studies related with superstructure of bridges are developed and they pursuit more effective section of bridges superstructure, material and economical application of composite materials. CFT structure(Concrete Filled Steel Tubular Structure) is developed type of composite structure that concrete is filled with steel box, and the deformation of the member, stiffness and internal force will be improved by confinement effect of steel box and concrete. This paper introduces new type of girder, CFTA girder( Concrete- Filled and Tied Steel Tubular Arch Girder) which is combined with traditional CFT structure, arch effect and prestress through carrying out the structural analysis by computer programs. The computer programs which is used are ABAQCS and MIDAS, and the 12.2m girder which is applied same load and prestresses is analyzed and compared the results respectively.

This paper presents results of one-year monitoring on prestressing force of a 7-wire steel post-tensioning strand which is installed in a UHPC(ultra high performance concrete) bridge with 11.0 m long, 5.0 m wide, and 0.6 m high by using a FBG-encapsulated 7-wire steel strand. The initial prestressing forces and the prestress changes during a vehicle load test were measured using the FBG-encapsulated strand. The results show that the FBG-encapsulated 7-wire strand is very effective for monitoring the prestress forces even the change in the tension force is very small. Additionally, it was indicated that selection of the thermal expansion coefficient which is used for the temperature correction shall be carefully carried out.

This study is to develop a strengthening method for slab bridges with external prestressing. There are so many different strengthening methods for damaged slab bridges, external prestressing method is the most effective, economical and durable strengthening method among them. But, its problem lies in anchoring devices, so recently, an effective anchoring method was developed and showed its improvements. In this study, a more improved method is suggested. Longitudinal tendons placed on both side of slab strengthens the whole bridge, and lateral tendons placed under the slab strengthens the middle of slab, and conveys the load at middle slab to both sides. Structural analysis for the tensile force for strengthening were analysed. Generally, 200-280tons for longitudinal tendon and 130-190 tons for lateral tendons are good enough to strengthen the damaged slab. This method has no upward roof work, so it is very convenient for installing. And no spaces under the slab are need, so it is good for shallow slabs which has less space under the slab.
