Effects of students' satisfaction with school meal programs on school happiness in South Korea

  • BACKGROUND/OBJECTIVES: School meals are not just meals consumed at school, they are part of the culture, education, and life experience at school. Nevertheless, few studies have revealed the influence of school meals on students' school lives. The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of satisfaction with the school meal program on students' school happiness. SUBJECTS/METHODS: A survey conducted in December 2015 asked 2,336 students (1,062 elementary school students, 880 middle school students, and 394 high school students) about their satisfaction with the school meal program and their school happiness. Multiple regression analyses were used to examine the relation between the students' school meal satisfaction and their happiness level. RESULTS: The average level of satisfaction with school meals of elementary school students was 4.1 out of 5 points, comparatively higher than that of middle and high school students, with a significant difference between school levels (P < 0.001). In addition, school happiness, as well as overall happiness, of elementary school students was higher than that of middle and high school students (P < 0.001). The school meal operation factor (0.232, P < 0.001) had the most influence on students' school happiness, followed by the school meal environment factor (0.219, P < 0.001) and school meal quality factor (0.136, P < 0.001). Overall satisfaction (0.097, P = 0.001) and school meal hygiene factor (0.095, P = 0.001) also had significant influences on students' school happiness. CONCLUSIONS: Students' satisfaction with the school meal program was related to their school happiness. Therefore, plans to enhance students' satisfaction with a school meal program needs to be implemented, with emphasis on placing a priority on school meal operation and school environment factors, in order to improve students' level of happiness.

  • 본 연구는 기혼 중년 남성의 갱년기 증상이 자살 사고에 미치는 영향에서 주관적 행복감의 매개효과를 파악한 연구이다. 자료수집은 2020년 12월부터 2021년 1월까지 실시하였으며 인터넷 커뮤니티를 통해서 설문 응답에 자발적으로 참여한 기혼 중년 남성을 대상으로 하였다. 최종 연구 대상자는 갱년기 증상이 있는 199명의 기혼 중년 남성이었다. 기혼 중년 남성의 갱년기 증상, 자살 사고 및 주관적 행복감은 유의한 상관관계가 있었으며, 갱년기 증상과 자살 사고의 관계에서 주관적 행복감은 매개효과가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구의 결과로 갱년기 남성의 주관적 행복감을 향상시키는 것이 자살 사고를 예방하는데 도움이 될 수 있음을 확인하였다. 따라서 연구자는 본 연구 결과를 토대로 추후 갱년기 남성의 자살 사고를 예방하는 간호중재 방안을 마련하여 그 효과를 확인해 볼 것을 제언한다.

청소년의 식생활 행태가 주관적 행복감에 미치는 영향 (The Effect of Eating Behaviors on Subjective Happiness in Adolescents)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of eating behaviors on subjective happiness of adolescents in South Korea. Methods: This study is a cross-sectional study. Using the statistics of the 13th (2017) Korea Youth Risk Behavior Web-based Survey, multiple logistic regression was conducted. The study sample comprised 62,276 middle and high school students aged primarily 12 to 17. Results: The rate of skipping breakfast more than five days per week was 31.5%, the rate of eating fast food more than three times per week was 20.5%, the rate of eating ramen more than three times per week was 25.9%, and the rate of eating at a convenience store more than three times per week was 26.0%. The eating behaviors affecting the subjective happiness of Korean adolescents were skipping breakfast and eating at a convenience store. Conclusion: In order to improve the negative eating behaviors that affect the subjective happiness of adolescents, various efforts will be needed at various levels such as home, school, community, and country.

간호대학생의 학업 스트레스와 주관적 행복감: 인지적 유연성의 매개효과 (A Study on The Mediating Effect of Cognitive Flexibility on Academic Stress and Subjective Happiness of Nursing Students)

  • 본 연구는 간호대학생의 학업 스트레스, 주관적 행복감, 인지적 유연성의 정도를 파악하고 학습 스트레스와 주관적 행복감 간의 인지적 유연성의 매개효과를 파악하고자 하였다. 연구대상은 J시 소재 대학의 간호대학생 186명이다. 자료수집기간은 2023년 10월 4일부터 10월 23일까지였으며, 자료분석은 SPSS 23.0을 사용하여 분석하였고, 연구 결과 간호대학생의 학업 스트레스, 인지적 유연성, 주관적 행복감 간의 유의한 상관관계를 보였으며, 학업 스트레스와 주관적 행복감 사이의 관계를 인지적 유연성이 부분 매개하는 것으로 나타났다. 따라서 간호대학생의 주관적 행복감을 향상시키기 위해서는 학업 스트레스를 줄이고, 인지적 유연성을 높일 수 있는 프로그램 개발 및 적용이 필요하다.

유아교사의 행복감 및 교직에 대한 태도, 다문화교수변인이 다문화 교수활동에 미치는 영향 (The Effect of Early Childhood Teachers' Happiness, Attitudes toward the Teaching Profession and Multicultural Variables on Multicultural Teaching Activities)

  • The purpose of this study was to examine differences in multicultural early childhood teaching activities according to the general characteristics of early childhood teachers, to analyze the relationships and effects of early childhood teachers' happiness, variables of attitudes toward the teaching profession, and variables of multicultural teaching, and ultimately to identify variables related to early childhood teachers that explain multicultural early childhood teaching activities. For this study, 270 teachers in charge of young children from multicultural families at early childhood education institutions were sampled. When the 'age' variable, which might affect multicultural teaching activities, was excluded and the relationships among early childhood teachers' variables as independent variables were analyzed, happiness and obsessive passion were found to have an effect on multicultural teaching activities. These findings suggest that early childhood teachers' happiness and passion for teaching needs to be enhanced as an effort to set the direction of multicultural education fit for the characteristics of Korea in the field of early childhood education, where the foundation of culture is laid and prejudices are easily formed.

골프참여자의 지도자신뢰와 운동몰입 및 심리적 행복감의 관계 (The Relationship among Trust of Instructors, Exercise Flow and Psychological Happiness for Golf Participants)

  • 본 연구의 목적은 골프연습장 참여자를 대상으로 골프 지도자신뢰와 운동몰입 및 심리적 행복감과의 관계를 알아보는 것이다. 본 연구는 골프연습장 이용객 256명을 대상으로 설문조사 하였다. 자료는 SPSS 18.0, AMOS 18.0을 이용하여 변인간의 인과적 관계를 규명하였다. 연구결과 첫째, 골프 참여자들의 지도자신뢰는 운동몰입에 유의한 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 골프 참여자들의 운동몰입은 심리적 행복감에 유의한 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 셋째, 골프 참여자의 지도자신뢰는 심리적 행복감에 유의한 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 넷째, 골프 참여자의 지도자신뢰와 심리적 행복감의 관계에서 운동몰입은 부분적으로 매개하는 것으로 나타났다. 골프참여자들이 운동을 함에 있어 지도자신뢰가 높고 더 나아가 운동에 대한 몰입도가 높아지면 삶의 질이 더욱 높아질 수 있을 것이다.

간호사가 지각한 간호조직문화와 행복지수가 이직의도에 미치는 영향 (The Effect Nursing Organizational Culture and Happiness Index on Turnover Intention among Nurses)

  • The purpose of this study was to identify the effect nursing organizational culture and happiness index on turnover intention among nurses. The subjects of this study were 377 nurses who were working at 3 general hospitals in B city. The data were collected by structured questionnaire from July 1 to August 28 of 2013. The data collected were analyzed with SPSS Win 20.0 using descriptive methods, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson correlation coefficient and Stepwise multiple regression. Turnover intention were significant negative correlation for affiliative oriented organizational culture(r=-.137, p=.008), happiness index(r=-.290, p<.001). There were significant positive correlation for innovative oriented organizational culture(r=.123, p=.017), rank oriented organizational culture(r=.126, p=.015), task oriented organizational culture(r=.218, p<.001). Factors affecting for turnover intention were happiness index(${\beta}$=-.297, p<.001), rank oriented organizational culture(${\beta}$=.266, p<.001), nursing experience(${\beta}$=.199, p=.009), affiliative oriented organizational culture(${\beta}$=-.142, p=.034). The explained variances for were turnover intention among nurses 17.2%. Based on the study consider to development and education program of happiness index and affiliative oriented organizational culture for nurses in the hospital setting.

보육교사의 긍정심리자본이 행복감에 미치는 영향: 대인관계유능성과 감사성향의 매개효과 (A Mediating Effect of Interpersonal Competence and Gratitude Disposition to the Influence of Positive Psychology Capital on Happiness in Childcare Teachers)

  • The purpose of this study was to explore mediating effects of interpersonal competence, gratitude disposition between childcare teachers positive psychological capital and happiness. The subjects of the study were a total 231 Childcare in Seoul. The statistics program used to achieve the purpose was SPSS/PC+18.0. The statistics methods applied were pearson correlation coefficient, simple linear regression, and multiple linear regression. The major results of this study were summarized as follows: First, Positive psychological capital and interpersonal competence, and gratitude disposition from happiness was found to be positively correlated. Second, interpersonal competence had an affect on childcare teachers happiness. These effects are mediated in part by the control interpersonal competence showed. Third, gratitude disposition affects childcare teachers happiness. These effects are mediated in part by the gratitude disposition showed. These results suggest that dispositional gratitude and cognitive flexibility play an important role in the development of happiness for childcare teachers.

간호대학생의 소명의식, 감성지능 및 전공몰입과 행복감 간의 관계: 전공몰입의 매개효과를 중심으로 (Associations of Vocational Calling, Emotional Intelligence, and Major Commitment with the Happiness of Nursing Students: Focusing on Mediating Effects of Major Commitment)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to determine the impacts of vocational calling, emotional intelligence, and major commitment on nursing college students' happiness. This study also was conducted to explore major commitment's mediating effect on the relationship between vocational calling, emotional intelligence, and major commitment among nursing college students. Methods: Participants were 346 nursing college students. Data were collected in November, 2017 with self-report questionnaires and were analyzed using t-test, one-way ANOVA, Pearson's correlation coefficients, and regression analysis with IBM SPSS 19.0. Results: The regression model explained 33.0% of variance in nursing college students' happiness (F=41.44, p<.001). Significant factors were emotional intelligence (${\beta}=.30$, p<.001), grade (${\beta}=.20$, p<.001), major commitment (${\beta}=.18$, p=.002), and vocational calling (${\beta}=.11$, p=.035). Moreover, major commitment showed partial mediating effects on vocational calling and happiness. Major commitment also showed partial mediating effects on emotional intelligence and happiness. Conclusion: The results suggest that nursing college students' happiness can be increased through strategies aimed at increasing vocational calling, emotional intelligence, and major commitment.

문화예술이 서울시민의 행복지수 향상에 미치는 영향 분석 (The Effects of Cultural Arts on the improvement of happiness index of Seoul citizens)

  • 현대사회에서는 경제성장이 중시되던 과거에 비해 삶의 질 향상과 행복을 위한 노력이 중시되고 있다. 이에 정부는 문화를 통한 국민행복실현을 이루고자 다양한 정책을 펼치고 있다. 본 연구는 기존의 한정된 설문조사나 문헌조사와는 달리 문화예술을 독립변수로 설정하여 수요(향유)와 공급 측면으로 나눈 후, 종속변수로 서울시민의 행복지수 향상에 미치는 영향을 소득과 인구구조변화의 통제 하에 시간적 범위를 10년 이상 설정한 후 정량적으로 패널분석 하였다. 분석결과 문화예술에 대한 향유가 클수록 서울시민의 행복지수 향상에 양(+)의 영향을 끼쳤으나 문화예술 공급은 유의미하지 못한 영향을 미치는 것으로 밝혀졌다. 이는 문화예술 향유에 기인한 서울시민의 행복지수 향상이 이루어지고 있으며 공급을 통한 서울시민의 행복지수를 향상시키기 위해서는 기존의 공간을 보완하고 다양한 계층을 겨냥한 차별화된 문화예술프로그램을 통해 문화수요계층 뿐만 아니라 문화무관심집단 나아가서는 문화소외계층의 능동적 참여를 증가시켜야 한다는 정책적 시사점을 줄 수 있다.
