With more emphasis on importance of software, many countries try to provide software education. Of course Korea includes informatics courses in 2015 revised curriculum, so that software education will be administered briskly in soon. However there are practical challenges including a lack of teaching hour in classes and the monotony of educational contents which occurs with that. To solve these problems, this research develop software education curriculum model that could be practically used for both middle and high school. First this study compare the curriculum of Korea to that of United States and United Kingdom. After analyzing the result, the curriculum model for middle and high school is developed. The curriculum model can be classified into three types, middle, high and advanced-high levels and include key concepts like collaboration and convergence, computational thinking, computing practice and programming, computers and communications devices, community, global, and ethical impacts. To assess the feasibility of our software education curriculum model, examination was made by expert group and a hearing was held by related researchers. Then the model was modified in a way that adjustable to Korea education system. This study provides some important guidances on designing a curriculum for software education at middle and high school. However, there still are difficulty adjusting to the elementary school and university course. To be able to further research, same kind of studies on elementary school and university course need to be done. Also, continuous modifications are required to reflect reality including technological advance, curriculum, and changes of education system.

The purpose of this study is to propose a data curation service to support teaching and learning activities of university libraries. To this end, the concept of data curation has been summarized, and how to understand information services and teaching-learning information data curation of university libraries. As a traditional extension of library information services, the use of university library data curation services has been proposed. As a result of research, data curation suggests that it is appropriate to understand the data by focusing more on the utilization of data. The university library emphasized that the data curation service is needed through the establishment of an institutional repository of teaching-learning activity materials for the visible effects that contribute to the educational service of the parent university. Finally, the research was completed by presenting five levels of teaching and learning information data curation framework.
There have been many developments and innovations in the educational environments in line with the rapidly evolving information age. E-Learning is a representative example of this rapid evolution. However, E-Learning is challenging to maintain students' concentration because of the low engagement level and limited interactions between instructors and students. Additionally, instructors have limitations in identifying learners' concentration. This paper proposes a system that can measure E-learning users' concentration levels by detecting the users' eyelid movement and the top of the head. The system recognizes the eyelid and the top of the head and measures the learners' concentration level. Detection of the eyelid and the top of the head triggers an event to assess the learners' concentration level based on the users' response. After this process, the system provides a normalized concentration score to the instructor. Experiments with experimental groups and control groups were conducted to verify and validate the system, and the concentration score showed more than 90% accuracy.
The purpose of this study was to examine the moderating effects of mothers' beliefs about emotional guidance on the relations between children's emotionality and parenting stress. The participants were 213 mothers of 3~5 year old children from early childhood educational institutions located in Gyeonggi province and Daejeon, Korea. Mothers completed questionnaires regarding children's emotionality, beliefs about emotional guidance and parenting stress. The main results of this study are as follows. First, children's gender, age and mothers' age was related to parenting stress. And maternal parenting stress was positively related to children's negative emotionality and mothers' beliefs that children learn emotion by themselves and negatively related to beliefs that parent should coach children's emotion. Also, the relations between negative emotionality of children and parenting stress were significantly moderated by mothers' beliefs about emotional guidance. That is, higher levels of children's negative emotionality predicted higher parenting stress especially for mothers who believe that children learn emotion by themselves. The findings of this study suggested the importance of mothers' emotion related beliefs to reduce parenting stress.
The purpose of this study was to investigate the levels of recognition, practice and information acquisition behaviors regarding food additives of university students for development of educational programs. The data were collected from 283 students in the Yeungnam region through a self-administered questionnaire. The level of concern about food additives was intermediate. The level of checking labels for food additives when buying processed foods was not high. The main reason for not checking labels for food additives was "Buying the special brand products repeatedly". In the factor analysis for perception of food additives, three factors were categorized; effect of food additives on human health, administration and regulation of food additives, and necessity of food additives. According to regression analyses, grade, concern about food additives and perception of amount of food additives had significant effects on human health. The significant variables for administration and regulation of food additives were gender, grade, major, monthly allowance and concern about food additives. In addition, major was a significant variable for the necessity of food additives. Many respondents did not reduce intake of food additives; males did less than females. Most respondents answered they did not acquire sufficient information about food additives. Regarding needs for information content on food additives, respondents wanted information about safety of food additives the most, followed by items of labels for food additives, and ways to reduce intake of food additives.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate diabetic knowledge, self-care behaviors, and HbA1c of patients with diabetic mellitus in public hospitals. Methods: Participants were 287 adult patients who had been diagnosed with diabetes in two public hospitals in Seoul. Collected data were analyzed using t-test, ANOVA, Pearson's correlation with the SPSS (PASW) 21.0 program. Results: For general characteristics of the participants, there were significant differences in the level of diabetic knowledge according to age (F=11.28, p<.001), educational level (F=11.07, p<.001), type of health insurance (F=9.38, p<.001), and monthly income (t=-4.58, p<.001) and in the self-care behaviors according to age (F=8.61, p<.001) and in HbA1c according to age (F=6.72, p=.001). As for disease related characteristics of the participants, significant differences were found for self-care behaviors according to education about diabetes (t=3.90, p<.001) and in HbA1c according to education about diabetes (t=3.26, p=.001) and current diabetic therapy methods (F=13.51, p<.001). The study results showed that there was no correlation between diabetic knowledge and self-care behavior, or between self-care behavior and HbA1c. Conclusion: Results indicate that when developing preliminary data on nursing intervention education programs on diabetes, increasing diabetic knowledge and self-care behaviors would help to improve blood glucose levels.
This study examined the effectiveness of two commonly used dietary assessment methods (the 24-hour recall and the food frequency questionnaire) in the epidemiological investigations of health-related habits and degenerative diseases. This cross sectional project in the Seoul area was conducted for the purpose of establishing cohort subjects and collecting reliable nutrient intake data for a further large-scale cross sectional study. The subjects were 91 volunteers from the Seoul area with a mean age of 53.5 \pm 9.6 for the males and 52.2 \pm 8.9 for the females. The subjects had a relatively high educational background, were from high socioeconomic levels, and were greatly concerned about healthrelated life styles. There was a significantly negative correlation between their smoking and their nutrient intake. Their drinking habits, their self-estimated health status and their concern or stress about being healthy did not have any influence on their nutrient intakes. Skipping meals was the most undesirable dietary habit influencing their nutrient intakes, and the next was their irregularity of eating meals. The subjects who liked legumes and fish had higher intakes of iron and niacin and those who liked milk and dairy products had higher intakes of calcium, vitamin \B_2 and fat. The subjects who considered themselves not to be healthy consumed higher amounts of fish and shell-fish, and those who considered themselves to be healthy consumed higher amounts of vegetables. The smokers consumed less fruits than non-smokers, but there was no correlation between their drinking and consumption of the food groups. There was no correlation between their food consumption frequency and their skipping meals or meal irregularity. There were positive correlations between their food likes and food consumption frequency for foods such as meat, milk and dairy products, seaweeds and fruits. Therefore, their smoking, skipping meals and meal irregularity appeared to greatly influence their nutrient intakes. Significant correlations were found between their health-related habits and their food group preferences and food frequencies. This implies that simple surveying methods using criteria such as smoking, skipping meals and meal irregularity, food group preferences and eating frequencies can be used as useful tools in the assessment of nutritional statuses.
The aim of this study was to compare nutrient intakes, dietary habits, and blood components of smokers with non-smokers in the Seoul area and its vicinity. The results showed that non-smokers had higher intakes of brown rice, grains, fruit, vegetable and kimchi than the smokers. Smokers consumed more protein (p<0.001), vitamin B1 (p<0.001), vitamin B2 (p<0.007), niacin (p<0.0001), zinc (p<0.031) and phosphorus (p<0.005) than did non-smokers, whereas non-smokers' intakes of vitamin A (p<0.037), and folic acid (p<0.043) was higher than that of smokers. Individuals who smoked tended to have significantly higher levels of hemoglobin and monocytes. There were no significant differences by smoking status for dihydrolipoic acid (DHLA), arachidonic acid (AA), eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA), which were in normal ranges. No significant differences by smoking status were shown for plasma homocysteine, HDL-cholesterol, LDL-cholesterol, vitamin C, and vitamin A. In conclusion, because smokers maintain a less healthy diet and life-style, it is to be recommended that educational programs be developed for smokers, guiding them into adopting better dietary habits in order to maintain and improve their health.

In this study, we developed analogical experimental activities to foster scientific creativity in inquiry learning and applied them to 7th grade science-gifted students. The influences of inquiry learning-based analogical experiments were investigated with respect to the experimental design processes. We classified the patterns of experimental design processes by creative thinking processes and analyzed performance levels by the elements of experimental design processes. The students' experimental design processes were categorized into three kinds of patterns such as reinitiated motion, backward-divergent motion and stationary motion. Those belonging to the reinitiated motion performed precise experimental design from new perspectives by identifying the mapping in depth and considering the elements of experimental design processes. In the case of the backward-divergent motion, they shifted their positions to new directions, but the concreteness of experimental design was insufficient due to the lack of mapping or considering the elements. In the type of stationary motion, maintaining their previous positions, they showed less performance of experimental design without considering the elements sufficiently. Educational implication of these findings are discussed.

This study attempted to understand the living conditions of children after school, focusing on 437 children attending an elementary school with working parent. This investigation also analyzed socio-demographic variables, the forms of after school child-care and differences in psychological well-being of children. The major findings were as follows First, self-care children took up 42.3% as the result of the survey on living conditions after school of lower-grade children. It showed that children under the condition of self-caring for more than four hours a day on the average took up 2/3 of the child group. Second, the results of examining the differences of psychological well being of children secondary to socio-demographic variables, it showed significant differences in the area of anxiety with respect to children’s genders, Parental occupations in the area maternal educational levels. Third, the results of the findings on whether there were differences in the psychological well-eing of these children depending on the form of after school hour child care showed that there were significant differences between loneliness and self-perceives competence felt by children.
