  • The status of eco-environments of Goryeong is evaluated from the results of National Ecosystem Survey. The areas, designated by the 1st class, are only 0.16% of total areas of Goryeong. Most of them are the regions which vegetation preservation status is well. Location of the 1st class region is mostly distributed around the summit and ridges of high mountains. The naturalness of Goryeong region is excellent, thus the status of eco-environments of Goryeong will be rapidly improved.

  • Past research efforts already established geopolymer as an environment-friendly alternative binder system for ordinary Portland cement (OPC) and recycled aggregate is also one of the promising alternative for natural aggregates. In this study, an effort was made to produce eco-friendly mortar mixes using geopolymer as binder and recycled fine aggregate (RFA) partially and study the resistance ability of these mortar mixes against the aggressive environments. To form the geopolymer binder, 70% fly ash, 30% ground granulated blast furnace slag (GGBS) and alkaline solution comprising of sodium silicate solution and 14M sodium hydroxide solution with a ratio of 1.5 were used. The ratio of alkaline liquid to binder (AL/B) was also considered as 0.4 and 0.6. In order to determine the resistance ability against aggressive environmental conditions, acid attack test, sulphate attack test and rapid chloride permeability test were conducted. Change in mass, change in compressive strength of the specimens after the immersion in acid/sulphate solution for a period of 28, 56, 90 and 120 days has been presented and discussed in this study. Results indicated that the incorporation of RFA leads to the reduction in compressive strength. Even though strength reduction was observed, eco-friendly mortar mixes containing geopolymer as binder and RFA as fine aggregate performed better when it was produced with AL/B ratio of 0.6.

  • In order to understand the effects of the main components of antifoaming agents on the marine benthic ecosystem when silicone-based antifoaming agents are discharged into marine environments, eco-toxicity testing was performed on silicone and alcohol-based antifoaming agent by using benthic amphipod (Monocorophium acherusicum) and luminescent bacteria (Vibrio fischeri). The toxic effects of Polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) as a main component of silicone-based antifoaming agents on aquatic organisms were also researched. In the results of the eco-toxicity test, luminescent bacteria showed a maximum of 9 times more toxic effects than benthic amphipod for alcohol-based antifoaming agents, and silicone-based antifoaming agents showed a maximum of 400 times more toxic effects than alcohol-based. The $LC_{50}$ and $EC_{50}$ values of PDMS ranged from 10 to $44,500{\mu}g/L$ in phytoplankton, invertebrate, and fish. In the results of applying PBT (P: persistency, B: bioaccumulation, T: toxicity) characteristics as an index showing the qualitative characteristics of PDMS, persistency (P) and bioaccumulation (B) were confirmed. Thus, when PDMS is discharged to marine environments, it could accumulate in the upper trophic level through bioaccumulation and the food chain, which could have negative effects on benthic organisms. The results of this study may be used for objective and scientific risk assessment, considering the major components of antifoaming agents when investigating the effects of various discharged antifoaming agents in marine ecosystem.

  • As the energy consumed in building area has occupied a lot when looking into energy usage weights in area over the world, energy reduction building, eco-friendly architecture comes to the fore in the modern architecture. Discussions on the eco-friendly architecture have various concept definitions and targets to be achieved. The architectural works of Norman Foster are expressed as high-tech buildings using iron, glass, etc. in appearance, but they appear as those buildings with low energy load by analyzing environmental conditions from initial design stage that each building has, utilizing natural energy with design of outer shell and applying proper technical system. Thus, this study aims at providing basic data of outer shell planning through eco-friendly element technologies by considering pattern and outer shell design of buildings, principles of eco-friendly building plan as an eco-friendly building planning technique of Norman Foster as an example of plans to utilize building pattern, outer shell design and natural environments, in order to utilize passive measures as much as possible to increase energy saving methods and increase comfort by analyzing element technologies in the eco-friendly architecture in line with the modern flow.

  • AcrR, the toxic-compounds-response regulator, regulates motility in microorganisms, presumably to escape from toxic environments. In this study, the genome-wide target genes of AcrR were investigated in a ΔacrR mutant strain by microarray analysis. In the absence of AcrR, the transcription of most flagella/motility genes was highly increased. In addition, flagella formation was increased in this mutant strain. Motility assays revealed that AcrR modulates swimming motility, but not swarming.

  • For precise particle measurements in combustion environments, various dilution sampling methods were compared. Dilution equipments using dilution tunnels and hot/cold dilution with porous tube dilutors were most frequently used so far. The combination of porous tube dilutor and ejector diluter has relatively small footprint, and it results in lower particle losses compared to other methods. To determine the portion of condensable particulate matter, proper temperature control and flow control is required.

  • There are numerous hazards and toxins have been produced in many forms along with life and working environments. Nevertheless, to remove theses hazards and toxins, there are many counteracting goods manufactured, but the result is limited in specific categories. Also it costs a lot of energy waste. In this paper, we propose a model that reduce wasting energy for detecting and getting rid of the harms. It adds a multi hazards auto-detection model for user friendly include the disable. It will be controlled the minimal sensed level of the harms by individuals through the proposed model. It can conduct detecting and eliminating the harms via eco-sensors pack which is adapted in different environments. As a result, the model works to produce only essential energy to clear the hazard and toxins as soon as the harms are generated and it leads to standby power.

  • Purpose - The purpose of this research is to identify how idiocentric consumers and allocentric consumers respond to retail store environments and how such responses affect their consumer behaviors in a sustainable consumption setting. Method - Data were collected from 422 U.S. adult consumers via a web-based survey. Two store settings were created, perceptually related (eco-friendly clothing displayed with greenery)or perceptually-unrelated (eco-friendly clothing displayed without greenery), and consumers were asked to take the survey based on the given store setting. Results - Allocentric consumers perceived a product and its display environment were related whereas idiocentric consumers perceived the two were unrelated. Also, the former exhibited higher purchase intentions when the product and store environment were related (eco-friendly clothing displayed with greenery), but the latter did when the two were unrelated (eco-friendly clothing displayed without greenery). Conclusions - This research suggests that retailers should consider consumer self-concept at personal-level when implementing marketing strategies. This research also demonstrates that consumers are influenced by store environment in relation to their self-concept and that self-concept can be temporarily modified by various stimuli such as visual displays.
