This study was performed to investigate the interrelationship between fasting serum insulin, eating behaviour, daily energy intake and the fatness in obese and non-obese women. The possibility of fasting serum insulin as potential predictive factor for eating behaviour and daily energy intake was also investigated. The results are as follows: 1) In obese women ; Subjects with higher fasting serum insulin were associated with higher speed of eating and shorter meal duration time. No association could be found between daily energy intake or the degree of obesity and fasting serum insulin. There was a significant positive correlation between obesity, daily energy intake and speed of eating. Obesity, daily energy intake were negatively related to meal duration time. Subjects with a rapid speed of eating were apt to overeat during eating behaviour experiment. Our findings suggested that a rapid speed of eating is a contributing factor to the development of obesity in obese women. 2) In non-obese women ; While subjects with higher insulin level were apt to overeat, we could not find any relation between overeating and daily energy intake. There was no correlation between eating speed and daily energy intake, but a significant positive correlation was found between meal duration time and daily energy intake. The degree of fatness was increased with the lower daily energy expenditure per body weight, or the higher waist hip girth ratio, fasting serum insulin and daily energy intake.

This study aimed to investigate the relationship between eating speed and nutritional status among Korean high-school students using Nutrition Quotient for Korean Adolescents (NQ-A). In this study, a questionnaire survey was conducted in 453 high-school students (227 boys and 226 girls) from September 2019 to October 2019 in Chungbuk area. Based on the self-reported speed of eating data, subjects were classified into a fast group (n=180), a medium group (n=184), and a slow group (n=89). NQ-A scores for each group were measured in each speed group. In the environment section, girls showed a significant difference in usage time of electronic devices, such as TVs and smartphones: the fast group spent significantly more time than the medium group (p=0.035). In the practice section, among boys, the slow group had significantly higher scores for washing hands before eating than the medium and the fast groups (p=0.022). This study suggested that eating speed of high school students is associated with health-related environment factor and practice factor of NQ-A, such as time spent on smart devices or washing hands before eating. The study results can provide baseline data for nutrition education on health management of high school students.
Fire fighters should eat their meal very fast in order to arrive in the emergency scene on time. The purpose of the study is to investigate the influence of eating speed on the health of the fire fighters. The subjects were fire fighters, National maritime police, soldiers, public officials, university students, and company employees. The fire fighters had the shortest eating time of 8 minutes 29 seconds, and eating speed of National maritime police was 8 minutes 33.17 seconds, and public officials had 12 minutes 49.33 seconds. Soldiers had 10 minutes 15 seconds, university students had 14 minutes 15 seconds, and company employees had 16 minutes 51 seconds in eating their meals. The previous studies said that eating speed had influenced on the metabolic syndrome and the survey on the American fire fighters showed that the fire fighters gained 7.7 pounds during the past 8 years. Through this study, it is necessary to implement the right eating habit that is able to slow down the eating speed in the Korean fire fighters. The Fire Academy should provide the right eating habit education program to the fire fighters.
This study investigated difference of general eating habit and eating-out behavior between men and women of university students in Gyonggi area. The survey was conducted from 1 March to 1 April 2010, in Gyeonggi area. Self-administered questionnaires were collected from 250 students in Gyeonggi area. The research results show, first of all, that they eat twice a day, and they usually do not eat breakfast. The main reason why they do not eat breakfast is that they do not have enough time to eat. Between men and women, there is significant difference in eating amount and eating speed at 0.001 levels. Men's problems of eating behavior are irregular meal time and speed of eating time, and in case of women, they do not have a meal regularly and overeat at one time. Second, they usually eat out for a meal and gather with friends once to three times a week. Also, the lunch set-menu promotion is the most preferred one. Third, when men choose a restaurant, they consider in order of taste, convenience, amount, and service; women consider in order of atmosphere, taste, convenience, and service. Taste is the most important for men; atmosphere is the most important consideration for women. Taste (at 0.01 levels), sanitation (at 0.05 levels), and atmosphere (at 0.001 levels) are significantly different between men and women in choosing restaurant.

The purpose of this study was to determine eating behaviors and nutrient intakes of 256 third grade primary school children(134:boys, 122:girls) in Kwangju. There were no significant differences in the heights, weights, physical circumferences measurements between the boys and girls, but the skinfold thickness measurements were significantly different. Most nutrient intakes were higher than the Rec ommended Dietary Allowances but the intake of energy, calcium, and vitamin E were lower than the RDA. The intakes of calcium, niacin, and vitamin E of the girls were significantly lower than those of the boys. With regard to meal volume, 13.6% of the subjects has been 'much'. With regard to meal speed, 24.6% of the subjects has been 'fast'. The study also found that 50% of the subjects skipped breakfast, 67.6% of the subjects had irregular meal times, 64.6% of the subjects ate snacks after dinner and 85.9% of the subjects ate snacks. These results show that the nutrient intake of children was related to snack eating more than regular meals. With regard to dietary behavior and nutrient intakes, meal volume, meal speed, skipping breakfast, eating snacks and eating snacks after dinner were major influences. But regularity of meal time was not influence on nutrient intakes. These results suggest that children's eating behaviors are in needs of correction. This reasserts the importance of nutrition education to children through teachers, parents and dietitians. The findings of this study should be applied to nutrition education to ensure better physical fitness of children.

The purpose of the study is to investigate the relationships between the BMI and food preference. eating behaviors. and nutrition knowledge score among the middle school male and female students. A total of 394 students from 4 different middle school in Seoul were participated in this study. The students were categorized into 3 groups by BMI : under-weight(〈20). ideal(20$\leq$BMI〈25). and overweight($\geq$25) groups. The data on food preference. eating behavior. and nutrition knowledge were collected by a questionnaire. All data were analyzed by means as frequency. percentage. mean and standard deviation. F-test. $\chi$$^2$-test. and correlation analysis. The results obtained are summarized as follows : 1. BMI average of the male students was 21.4 About 45% of the students were in ideal weight group. 40% were in under-weight group. and 15% were in overweight group according to BMI. 2. About 62% of the participants wanted to lose weight : 43% of the male students. and 82% of the female students. And 33% of the students wished to lose more than 7kg of body weight. 3. Preference score for animal protein foods was the highest in overweight group. On the other hand. preference score of vegetables was the highest in under-weight group. 4. All 3 BMI groups eat more foods on dinner compared to lunch or breakfast. Eating amount score of between-meal was highest(eat more) in under-weight group. and the lowest(eat less) in overweight group. But the percentage of students who eat snack at night was the highest in overweight group. 5. Among the eating behavior variables. eating frequency of snack at night and eating speed were significantly different among 3 groups. Overweight group eat snack at night less frequently and eating speed is faster than the other groups(p〈.05). 6. Nutrition knowledge score was the highest in overweight group. but the difference was insignificant. It is shown that about 40% of the participants belong to under-weight group. but 62% wished to lose weights. Parents and teachers should watch out the juvenile students'health. especially whether they try to lose weight or maintain unrealistically low weight.
This study was to investigate the relationship between time spent on lunch and degree of obesity, eating habits in culinary college male students. This survey was conducted using questionnaires for 106 male students in a Hongseung-located culinary college. Over 16 minutes of time spent on lunch group had significantly lower body weights, obesity degrees and body mass index (BMI) and tended to have lower body fat % than the other groups. It suggests that shorter time spent on lunch is related with lower body weight, obesity degree and BMI. Those who ate the meal prepared by mother had longer time spent on lunch. The shorter times spent on lunch group recognized their body shape was lean, the longer time spent on lunch group recognized the overweight or obesity significantly. The shorter time spent on lunch group tended to eat the cooked rice in the gug and recognized that they were not healthy. Those who had diseases in the past tended to have shorter time spent on lunch. The more they chewed cooked rice and then longer time spent on lunch they had, they recognized their eating speed was not significantly speedy. The shorter time spent on lunch they had, the fewer fruits and salty foods they ate significantly. This study suggests that more chewing time. slower eating speed and longer time spent on eatmg lunch is very related with lowering weight, BMI, body fat % and obesity degrees, so male college students should be educated to have correct eating habits.
Background Sasang constitutional medicine explains that the difference in eating habits depending on constitutional characteristics affects health status. The aim of the present study is to investigate research trend on Sasang constitution (SC) and eating habits. Method Research papers from 2010 to 2019 on SC and eating habits were searched in domestic and international 5 databases. As a result, 11 clinical studies related to the SC and eating habits were finally selected. From the finally selected research papers, subjects, study period, constitutional diagnostic tools used for studies, and eating habit evaluation tools were investigated. Results In a total of 11 research papers conducted as clinical studies regarding SC and eating habits for the recent 20 years, eating speed and meal size items were most frequently used, followed by the regularity of meals, unbalanced diets, breakfast. Taeumin was more likely to eat fast, eat a lot of food, or overeat while Soeumin was less likely to overeat or they eat less food. There was no significant difference in the regularity of meals depending on constitution, but each study showed different tendency. Conclusion This study closely reviewed Sasang constitutional eating habit items from the precedent studies to select the major items of eating habits as a constitutional health management index. The results of this study will contribute to selections of items and the development of tools to measure constitutional eating habits related to health status.
The slimness favored trend made students shape up body image by weight control using restrained eating. Many students especially female ones tend to be in eating disorder status. The aim of this study was to find the relation between weight, eating habits and dietary self efficacy in the selected middle school girl students group with high risk eating disorder (7.9%) and the one with low risk eating disorder (24.1%). This study was conducted by EAT-26 questionnaire method and all the data was analyzed by SAS (Statistical Analysis System) program. The results were as follows; The physical condition of eating disorder students (159.5cm height, 50.7kg weight and 97.4% PIBW) was higher and bigger than that of normal students(158.2 cm, 47.2 kg, and 92.6% PIBW). Weight control experience in the high risk group (69.4%) was significantly more frequent than normal group (p<0.001). The gap between actual body weight and desired weight was higher in high risk eating disorder group than in normal group (p<0.001). Dietary self-efficacy score of middle school female students in the high risk eating disorder group was high when they were in temper, in confusion, and after argument. However, when they were in cooking (p<0.01), with friends (p<0.05), in assembling dishes (p<0.01), and with family (p<0.05) the dietary self-efficacy score of high risk group was lower than that of normal group. In the high risk eating disorder group, eating speed was often faster (p<0.05) and overeating rate (p<0.01) was higher than in normal group. In general, EAT-26 score was correlated positively with gap weight, but negatively correlated with dietary self efficacy score(p<0.01). Gap weight and dietary self efficacy were significantly different in normal group. however, there was no relation in high risk eating disorder group. Under the circumstance of high risk eating disorder, as weight and dietary self efficacy did not affect the relation with eating disorder score, when it is determined as eating disorder some other factors besides weight and diet self efficacy seem to affect the eating disorder score. In conclusion, the factors related with eating disorder were gap weight and some items of dietary self efficacy. Thus, correct understanding of healthy weight and dietary self efficacy enhancement require the development of nutrition education contents and the practice of nutrition education.
Objectives: This study was conducted to analyze the general properties of beauticians and to analyze correlation between their experiences of indigestion and relevant factors and thus to provide basic data to prevent obstacles to beautician's health. Methods: A self-administered survey on 257 female beauticians in Daegu from March 15 to May 30, 2005 was conducted. Cross-link analysis was used to examine indigestion in relation to the general properties of beauticians, and correlation analysis was used to determine the level of relationship between indigestion and relevant factors, and multiple regression analysis was used to determine the degree of effects of relevant factors on indigestion. Results: The results can be summarized as follows: 1. As for indigestion by general properties and beauty-related properties, there were significant differences in gender(p<0.01), age(p<0.05) and marriage status(p<0.05) among general properties and there were significant differences in the number of holiday(p<0.05), beauty culture career(p<0.01), and the degree of satisfaction on duty(p<0.001) among beauty-related properties. As for indigestion by eating habit and health-related properties, there were significant differences in the degrees of regular eating(p<0.001) and regular living habit(p<0.001), and eating speed(p<0.01). 2. Factors relevant to the eating habit showing significant correlation with indigestion were regular eating habit, taking well-balanced nutrition, and taking salty food. Among them, the regular eating habit was shown to be the most relevant with the correlation coefficient of -0.253(p<0.01). The general and beauty-related factors showing significant correlation with indigestion were beauty culture career, number of holiday, and regular living habit. And regular living habit was shown to be the most relevant with the correlation coefficient of -0.260(p<0.001). 3. Results from the regression analysis showed that relevant factors having significant effects on indigestion were gender, beauty culture career, satisfaction on duty, eating speed, regular eating habit and regular living habit. And satisfaction on duty was found to have the greatest effect on indigestion. Conclusions: The findings of this study could be effectively used to develop a practical management strategy to prevent $beauticia{\acute{n}}s$ indigestion, and to promote $beauticia{\acute{n}}s$ health, and ultimately to improve the $beauticia{\acute{n}}s$ quality of life.
