A storm-induced coastal inundation model (SICIM) is presented to simulate the flood event during typhoon passage that often results in significant rise in sea-level heights especially in the upstream region of the basin. The SICIM is a GIS-based distributed hydrodynamic model, both storm surge and storm water inundations are taken into account. The spatial and temporal distribution of the storm water level and flux are calculated. The model was applied to Jeju Island since it has an isolated watershed that is easy to handle as a first step of model application. Another reason is that it is surrounded by coastal area exposed to storm surge inundation. The model is still advancing and will be the framework of a predictive early inundation warning system.

본 논문에서는 인터넷환경에서 증가하는 인터넷게임의 바이러스/웜의 공격에 의한 침해사고 발생시 정의되어야 할 정보와 이를 활용한 대량 트래픽을 발생시키는 탐지하는 방안을 제안하였다. 이에 따라 인터넷 게임 사고대응시스템에서의 자동화된 역추적 방안에 대한 설계와 기능에 대한 개념을 제시한다.

Remotely sensed data have been utilized efficiently for damage detection immediately after the natural disaster since they provide valuable information on land cover change due to spatial synchronization and multitemporal observation over large areas. Damage information obtained at an early stage is important for rapid emergency response and recovery works. Many useful techniques to analyze the characteristics of the pre- and post-event satellite images in large-scale damage detection have been successfully investigated for emergency management. Since high-resolution satellite images provide a wealth of information on damage occurred in urban areas, they are successfully utilized for damage detection in urban areas. In this research, a method to perform automated damage detection is proposed based on the differences of the textural characteristics in pre- and post- high resolution satellite images.

The Ms 7.7 earthquake of Gujarat, India occured early in the morning of January 26, 2001. Subsequent of the earthquake, as a Seismologist at Korea Institute of Geoscience and Mineral Resources(KIGAM), I have been visited epicentral area here reporting the impressions and initial observations collected during the period of Feb. 07 to 13. The trace of surface faulting was not founded. However the mechanism of the earthquake suggests the indenting Indian plate to the Eurasian plate was the tectonic background of this earthquake. Large casualties compare with the magnitude and focal depth of the event, seems due to the poor construction of the typical ordinary Indian housing structure. The wall and roof of the house are very thick to avoid high temperature of the epicentral region.

This study area show the complicated geological figure and some developed small fault area in southern of Korea. Because of insufficient investigation and design for the big slope, even the safety analysis by the specific institution, in the event, there were 6 times failure and 6 time safety analysis. After all, The height and remedial work cost of the slope became much bigger then early stage.

In this paper, we proposed image-processing technique for automatic real-time fire and smoke detection in tunnel fire environment. To minimize false detection of fire in tunnel we used motion information of video sequence. And this makes it possible to detect exact position of event in early stage with detection, test, and verification procedures. In addition, by comparing false detection elimination results of each step, we have proved the validity and efficiency of proposed algorithm.

DOPA decarboxylase (DDC), which converts DOPA to dopamine, is important for many biological event such as cuticular melanization, sclerotization and neurotransmission in insects. Recently, it has been also shown that DDC activity is correlated with pupal diapause in M. brassicae. The silkworm, Bombyx mori is a typical insect diapausing at early embryonic stage. (omitted)

Two cases of severe caustic injury of the hypopharynx, esophagus, and stomach are presented. Restoration of digestive continuity was accomplished by retrosternal isoperistaltic interposition of the transverse and left colon on the post-injury 73rd and 66th day respectively. The upper oro-colon continuity was made by a cervical approach, a vertical incision at the posterior hypopharyngeal wall, and interrupted one-layer sutures using 3-0 Dacron suture materials. The distal continuity was made by colojejunostomy between the transposed colon and proximal jejunum. There was no event after the operation in both cases. The posterior vertical hypopharyngotomy and hypopharyngocolostomy at the early post-injury period may be the preferred procedure to obtain normal deglutition in patients with esophageal stricture associated with hypopharyngeal injury.

Hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg) seroclearance is a rare event in chronic hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection which acquires the disease early in life. A case study have examined with asymptomatic chronic hepatitis B carrier who exhibits HBsAg seroclearance in anti-HBe positive. We comprehensively studied the biochemical, virological and clinical aspects of a patient with HBsAg seroclearance. Liver biochemistry, serological markers, serum HBV DNA levels, and development of clinical complications were monitored. Mutation of hepatitis B virus is suspected serum HBsAg detected by the HBsAg assay systems of VITROS (OrthoClinical Diagnostics, USA), AxSYM (Abbott Laboratories, USA), Elecsys (Roche Diagnostics, Germany) and ADVIA Centaur (Bayer Diagnostics, USA). These four immunoassays showed negative results. Also, the patient had undetectable serum HBV DNA. Therefore, no mutation within the "a" determinant of HBsAg, which might escape detection from HBsAg immunoassay were found. Natural seroclearance was confirmed.

Asteroids represent a significant resource for space exploration and scientific research. Various scientific missions have already performed and planned to investigate and understand the characteristics of asteroids. This talk introduces many space missions to asteroids. Representing missions to asteroids are the NASA's NEAR, Deep Space-1, Dawn, OSIRIS-Rex, SCOUT, DART, and ESA's Rosetta, and JAXA's Hayabusa 1 and 2, and DESTINY+ missions, and others. Although it is a very rare event, the possibility of Earth-crossing asteroids (ECAs) colliding with the Earth can never also be ignored. Numerous mitigation concepts also have been proposed to deflect ECAs in preparing for the disasters which might occur in future days. In the early studies for mitigation schemes, most of analyses were centered on to deflect ECAs with impacting the energy to the object to change its orbit. This talk also introduces many methods to deflect the orbit of ECAs, and shows spacecraft trajectories to asteroids.
