  • For completion of 5-days per week system, elementary mathematics curriculum is expended to twice a month. According to the enrichment of Jae-Ryang and After School Activity, educational environment is being changed. These changes require preparations to minimize school hours. Therefore, it is needed to make better the quality, quantity and the techniques of mathematics instruction. In this study, after teaching the level 5-Na and 6-Na, the result of assessment in section An assesment of 'Review Problem' is used to analyze passing of each question. As categorizing them into each domains, this article gives help to elementary school teachers to judge learner difficulties level of domains through analyzing the quality of instructor.

  • There are significant changes are in education field: the paradigm shift from teacher-centered and text-oriented learning to learner-centered and multimedia-oriented learning. Many researchers have proposed that the e-learning contents is one of the most important factors on e-learning performance. This study analyzes the effect of types of test information on learning performance in e-learning contents. The results show that the interaction effect between types and gender influences the comprehension of learning; the female prefers to the feedback and narrative type but the male prefer to the narrative type. The narrative type showed the highest score on the comprehension and satisfaction of learning among three different types. Also, the main effect of gender difference had no effect on e-learning performance.

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze and compare Korean middle school-level environmental education(EE) textbooks. More specifically, these analyses and comparisons were designed to explore the extent to which environmental investigation skills were addressed in these EE textbooks (i.e., curriculum inclusion), as well as the manner in which these skills were to be taught and learned (i.e., instructional approaches). To analyze EE textbooks, the researchers developed a 'Curriculum Analysis Chart' that include six skill clusters and four instructional strategies. This analytic chart permitted the researchers to determine which skills were featured in selected textbooks, as well as which skill-oriented instructional strategies accompanied each of those skills. The chart was revised several times through pilot analyses. Using the final version of this chart, the researchers analyzed and then compared the three textbooks. This analysis indicated that the Korean middle school-level EE textbooks were designed to support conceptual learning and understanding of environment and environmental problems/issues (i.e., content-oriented), and were designed to support skill learning to a moderate degree. On the basis of textbooks analysis, the researchers offered several recommendations for future research, and for educational practices in EE.

  • Now, most of programs developed were presented as form of item pool by dividing problems by section and level for the level differentiated course, so the utilization is decreasing at the field caused by unconsidered school underachievement elements by achievement. Especially, the study on teaching materials and effective measures map for mid-low level students with low utilization is more urgent. Therefore, in this study we will promote teaching method for improving learning achievement at high school. The development teaching materials(the performance evaluation and diagnostic assessment, reconstruction of textbooks) will be applied to classes for the underachieving students directly, and the achievement in the experimental class was significantly improved compared to the comparative class and the meaningful conclusions could be drawn as results of conducting same assessment based on the experimental class and the comparative class.

  • The classification is an important activity that is directly related to concept formation. Thus it will need to be made meaningful learning to classification through learner-centered teaching. But we doubts weather teaching and learning to the classification are reflected in the constructivist philosophy of 'learner-centered' well or not. The purpose of this study was to analyze critically the content of elementary textbooks and guidebook for teachers relating to the classification of angles and triangles in terms of constructivism. As a result, there is a problem in the classification of angles that are not provided a reasonable chance to set criteria by agreement of the communities. There is a problem in the classification of triangles that has the characteristics of radical development in terms of diversity. In addition, response of students was predicted like anyone who already acquired knowledge. And it has the shortcomings that the opportunity to have a choice and a discussion to hierarchical and partition classification are not provided. The followings are proposed based on such features; faithful reflection of 'Learner-centered' principle, careful prediction of student response, teaching that focus on process than results.

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze 'datum' of 'The Data' in the textbooks of middle school on the basis of 'The Data of Euclid' and develop datum. For this, the followings are conducted. First, the distinctive structure of datum of 'The Data' is considered. Second, some learning materials the contents of geometry in the textbooks of middle school are analyzed and the mathematical meanings are explored. Third, the applicable datum to geometry education of middle school are developed and the way of educational use is studied. The hopefully, the result of this study will make school mathematics education more plentiful and give meaningful implications to revision of mathematics education curriculum and the improvement of teaching and learning.

  • The purpose of this study is to encourage the role of domain to consider the teaching of the concept of functions in modeling real situations. To do this, it is analyzed that how to introduce the concept of functions and linear functions in textbooks treated in the 1st grade and the 2nd grade of middle school. This study also reviewed the role of domain in representational activities for modeling real situations using linear functions. In these reviews, it found that many textbooks do not consider the domain in the equations of functions and these graphs and several text books used linear functions for modeling real situations which are not represented by linear functions contextually. It is concluded that the domain of function is an important concept that will be considered any representational activities for functions.

  • This study examined whether the integrated education social studies textbooks developed for students with disabilities were properly implemented in terms of universal design for learning. For analysis, "Teaching and learning materials for inclusive education of students with disabilities: grade 3~6 social studies textbooks", which were instructional adaptation, were selected for students with disabilities who are unable to learn the contents of general textbooks for the 3rd to 6th grade of the elementary school social course in the 2015 revised curriculum. The social curriculum grades are composed of 20 units, including general public, geography and history. The content analysis standard was based on detailed items of 9 definitions according to the 3 principles of UDL presented in CAST (2018). Overall, the aspect of providing multiple means of action and expression was the most frequently observed, followed by providing multiple means of representation and providing multiple means of engagement. Special education teachers and textbook developers can use these results as a resource for designing curricula and lessons for students with disabilities in the inclusive classroom.

  • The scientific technology developed rapidly and the internet became more popular, also, the world became interactive with one another and the word 'Global' became popular and built a new paradigm. As the development of the society, the ideal criteria for the competent student changed. Consequently, the attention for the globalized education increased. From the points of view of mathematical education, it became a important task to be prepared for international competitiveness for korean talented students. For theses reasons, this article analyzes the characteristics of IBDP and its textbook, which is an international official curriculum and one of the actualizing method for internalization Korean high school curriculum and text book, specifically, focusing on algebra part. Especially, Korean curriculum textbooks and the Mathematical Higher Level textbooks of IBDP was compared and analyzed. As a result, the depth and range of the content, standard level of the question, methods being used to explain the concept, type of questions as well as teaching - learning method were analyzed and in each chapter of the algebra we give meaningful result and proposed discussion.

  • Counting occupies a fundamental and important position in mathematical learning due to its relation to number concepts and numeral operations. In particular, counting up to large numbers is an essential learning element in that it is structural counting that includes the understanding of place values as well as the one-to-one correspondence and cardinal principles required by counting when introducing number concepts in the early stages of number learning. This study aims to derive didactical implications by investigating the possibility of and the strategies for counting large numbers that is expected to have no students' experience because it is not composed of current textbook activities. To do this, 89 second-grade elementary school students who learned the three-digit numbers and experienced group-counting and skip-counting as textbook activities were provided with questions asking how many penguins were in a picture where 260 penguins were irregularly arranged and how to count. As a result of analyzing students' responses in terms of the correct answer rate, the strategy used, and their cognitive characteristics, the incorrect answer rate was very high, and the use of decimal principles, group-counting, counting by one, and partial sum strategies were confirmed. Based on these analysis results, several didactical implications were derived, including the need to include counting up to large numbers as textbook activities.
