In this paper a computer aided analysis method is proposed for durability assessment in the early design stages using dynamic analysis, stress analysis and fatigue life prediction method. From dynamic analysis of a vehicle suspension system, dynamic load time histories of a suspension component are calculated. From the dynamic load time histories and the stress of the suspension component, a dynamic stress time history at the critical location is produced using the superposition principle. Using linear damage law and cycle counting method, fatigue life cycle is calculated. The predicted fatigue life cycle is verified by experimental durability tests.
The lithography system installed inside precision industry's (e.g. TFT-LCD) production factories are increasing in size, thereby increasing its dynamic load along with it. Such condition causes vibration within the area where the system is installed, which then negatively affects the production line to produce defective products. To prevent this type of situation, the facilities should adopt dynamic design that considers the lithography system's dynamic load. This study predicts the maximum value allowed for dynamic stiffness (which is a ratio of vibration response against a single unit of the dynamic load) of the lithography system and explains the result of its application on actual structures inside the facilities.
The free vibration and dynamic response of cross-ply for CFRP and GFRP laminated circular cylindrical shells under dynamic loadings are investigated by using the first-order shear deformation shell theory. The modal analysis technique is used to develop the analytical solutions of simply supported cylindrical shells under dynamic load. The analysis is based on an expansion of the loads, displacements and rotations in a double Fourier series which satisfies the and boundary conditions of simply support. Analytical solution is assumed to be separable into a function of time and a function of position. In this paper, the considered load forces are step pulse, sine pulse, triangular(1, 2, 3) pulse and exponential pulse. The solution for a given loading pulse can be found by involving the convolution integral. The results show that the dynamic response are governed primarily by the natural period of the structure.
This paper presents the dynamic characteristic analysis of Permanent Magnet Linear Synchronous Motor(PMLSM) according to variable load. In order to analyze dynamic characteristics, finite element method(FEM) was used for calculation of the parameter and the Matlab simulink was used for dynamic characteristic simulation. The measuring system of the dynamic characteristics was manufactured and the experiment results were compared with the simulation results.
In recent years, an increasing amount of computer network research has focused on the problem of cluster system in order to achieve higher performance and lower cost. The load unbalance is the major defect that reduces performance of a cluster system that uses parallel program in a form of SPMD (Single Program Multiple Data). Also, the load unbalance is a problem of MPP (Massive Parallel Processors), and distributed system. The cluster system is a loosely-coupled distributed system, therefore, it has higher communication overhead than MPP. Dynamic load balancing can solve the load unbalance problem of cluster system and reduce its communication cost. The cluster systems considered in this paper consist of P heterogeneous nodes connected by a switch-based network. The master node can predict the average execution time of tasks for each slave node based on the information from the corresponding slave node. Then, the master node redistributes remaining tasks to each node considering the predicted execution time and the communication overhead for task migration. The proposed dynamic load balancing uses execution time prediction to optimize the task redistribution. The various performance factors such as node number, task number, and communication cost are considered to improve the performance of cluster system. From the simulation results, we verified the effectiveness of the proposed dynamic load balancing algorithm.

Since the oil crisis in 1970, a great deal of effort has been made to develop automatic electric load sharing systems as a part of the efforts to save energy. A large scale electric generating system composes more than two generators whose characteristics may be different. When such a system is operated individually or in parallel, the lagrange multiplier's method has difficulty in achieving optimal load distribution because generators usually have the limitations of the operating range with inequality constraints. Therefore, a suitable operating mode of generators has to be decided according to the selection of the generators to meet electric power requirements at the minimum cost. In this study, a method which solves the optimal electric load distribution problem using the dynamic programming technique is proposed. This study also shows that the dynamic programming method has an advantage in dealing with the optimal load distribution problem under the limitations of the operating range with inequality constraints including generator operation mode. In this study, generator operating cost curve of second order equation by shop trial test results of diesel generators are used. The results indicate that the proposed method can be applied to the ship's electric generating system.
This paper discusses the field testing of two single-span double-tee girder (DTG) bridges in South Dakota to determine live load distribution factors (LLDFs) and the dynamic load allowance (IM). One bridge had seven girders and another had eight girders. The longitudinal girder-to-girder joints of both bridges were deteriorated in a way that water could penetrate and the joint steel members were corroded. A truck traveled across each of the two bridges at five transverse paths. The paths were tested twice with a crawl speed load test and twice with a dynamic load. The LLDFs and IM were determined using strain data measured during the field tests. These results were compared with those determined according to the AASHTO Standard and the AASHTO LRFD specifications. Nearly all the measured LLDFs were below the AASHTO LRFD design LLDFs, with the exception of two instances: 1) An exterior DTG on the seven-girder bridge and 2) An interior DTG on the eight-girder bridge. The LLDFs specified in the AASHTO Standard were conservative compared with the measured LLDFs. It was also found that both AASHTO LRFD and AASHTO Standard specifications were conservative when estimating IM, compared to the field test results for both bridges.
All the loads in the real world are dynamic loads and it is well known that structural optimization under dynamic loads is very difficult. Thus the dynamic loads are often transformed to the static loads using dynamic factors. However, due to the difference of load characters, there can be considerable differences between the results from static and dynamic analyses. When the natural frequency of a structure is high, the dynamic analysis result is similar to that of static analysis due to the small inertia effect on the behavior of the structure. However, if the natural frequency is low, the inertia effect should not be ignored. Then, the behavior of the dynamic system is different from that of the static system. The difference of the two cases can be explained from the relationship between the homogeneous and the particular solutions of the differential equation that governs the behavior of the structure. Through various examples, the difference between the dynamic analysis and the static analysis are shown. Also the optimization results considering dynamic loads are compared with static loads.
The facility equipments generate dynamic force on building floor and the force can be measured with force transducer. However, this method depends on the measuring capacity or range of sensor, or mounts installation condition of equipments. Because of this restricting condition on force measuring system, this paper suggests a indirect method, the TPA(transfer path analysis) method, that produces a closely approximate dynamic force of equipments. This method calculates the dynamic force by using transfer response function. Firstly, the calculated dynamic force of impact load and continuous load was respectively compared with the sensor-measured value to examine the accuracy of TPA method. After that, the dynamic force and response induced by large facility equipments - a cooling tower, AHU and a large ventilator - were calculated by TPA method and the validity of these value were examined.
