  • A lumped parameter model is proposed for the analysis of dynamic behaviour of a Passive Hydraulic Engine Mount (PHEM), incorporating inertia track and throttle, which is characterized by effective and efficient vibration isolation behaviour in the range of both low and high frequencies. Most of the model parameters, including volume compliance of the throttle chamber, effective piston area, fluid inertia and resistance of inertia track and throttle are identified by an experimental approach. Numerical predictions are obtained through a finite element method for responses of dynamic stiffness of the rubber spring. The experiments are made for the purpose of PHEM validation. Comparison of numerical results with experimental observations has shown that the present PHEM achieves good performance for vibration isolation.

  • The effects of railway vibration on nearby structures or equipment become severe with increasing the train speed and they may be also sufficiently intense to annoy the recipients. Often, the cost of the postcautionary measures may be more expensive than that of the precautionary ones to eliminate potential problems. This paper presents the Boundary Element approach for the evaluation of the dynamic response (in the form of the compliance matrix) of sleeper which can be used to predict the change of the vibration level.

  • The feasibility study on supporting a turbocharger rotor on air foil bearing is investigated. Based on finite difference method and Newton-Raphson method, the static equilibrium position of a turbocharger rotor is predicted. And using finite difference method and perturbation method, dynamic characteristics of air foil bearings are calculated. Rotordynamic analysis is performed by finite element method, with collaboration of calculated stiffness and damping of foil bearing. The effect of compliance and clearance of bump foil bearing on the oil-free turbocharger is investigated in terms of rotordynamics. And the critical speeds, eccentricity ratio, vibration amplitude, and stability are considered. It is demonstrated that foil bearings offer a rlausible replacement for oil-lubricated bearings in turbocharger.

A design procedure of dissipative braces for seismic upgrading structures

  • The research presented in this paper deals with the seismic protection of existing frame structures by means of passive energy dissipation. A displacement-based procedure to design dissipative bracings for the seismic protection of frame structures is proposed and some applications are discussed. The procedure is based on the displacement based design using the capacity spectrum method, no dynamic non linear analyses are needed. Two performance objective have been considered developing the procedure: protect the structure against structural damage or collapse and avoid non-structural damage as well as excessive base shear. The compliance is obtained dimensioning dissipative braces to limit global displacements and interstorey drifts. Reference is made to BRB braces, but the procedure can easily be extended to any typology of dissipative brace. The procedure has been validated through a comparison with nonlinear dynamic response of two 2D r.c. frames, one bare and one infilled. Finally a real application, on an existing 3D building where dissipative braces available on market are used, is discussed.

유한요소를 이용한 유연성 간극기구의 동적 해석 (Dynamic Analysis of Flexible Mechanisms with Clearances Using Finite Elements)

  • The method of analyzing flexible mechanisms with clearances was studied considering flexibility of beams in the mechanism using finite elements. Both ends of a beam were modeled as free following Dubowsky's impact pair model. Instead some force constraints were imposed at imposed at the connections between adjoining links. Coulomb model has been developed using dry frictions in place of tangential damping forces in the impact pair model and the contact compliance and damping coefficient approximated in a form of root function were used. As examples, impacts of a rigid ball in a cylinder, impact beam model and four-bar mechanisms made up of three flexible links with clearance connections were simulated numerically. The results from examples showed similar but a little bit smaller magnitude of impact forces compared with published studies.

  • An approach to robot force control, which allows force manipulations to be realized without overshot and overdamping while in the presence of unknown environment, is given in this paper. The main idea is to use dynamic compensation for known robot parts and fuzzy compensation for unknown environment so as to improve system performance. The fuzzy compensation is implemented by using rule based fuzzy approach to identify unknown environment. The establishment of proposed control system consists of following two stages. First, similar to the resolved acceleration control method, dynamic compensation and PID control based on known robot dynamics, kinematics and estimated environment compliance is introduced. To avoid overshoot the whole control system is constructed overdamped. In the second stage, the unknown environment stiffness is estimated by using fuzzy reasoning, where the fuzzy estimation rules are obtained priori as the expression of the relationship between environment stiffness and system response. Based on simulation result, comparisons between cases with or without fuzzy identifications are given, which illustrate the improvement achieved.

베어링 스팬상에 기어구동축을 갖는 스핀들 베어링 시스템의 정적 및 동적 해석방법에 관한 연구 (Static and Dynamic Characteristics of the Spindle Bearing System with a Gear Located on the Bearing Span)

  • Since the spindle bearing systme is the main source of the total cutting point compliance of machine tool structures, in this work, the static and dynamic characteristics of the spndle bearing systme driven by the gear located on the bearing span were investigated using analytical and finite elemtn methods to improve the performance of the spindle bearing system. Based on the theretical results, a specially designed prototype spindle bvearing systme was manufactured. Using the manufactured spindle bearing system, the static and dynamic characteristics were measured. From the comparison of the experimental results with the theoretical results, it was found that the finite elemetn method predicted well the static and dynamic characteristics of the spindle bearing system.

  • 고체추진 로켓모타의 개발이나 성능평가 때에는 추진기관의 추력, 연소실 압력, 온도, 연소시간 등 정적연소시험을 통해서 필요한 데이터론 측정한다. 그러나 휴대용 대공 유도무기의 경우에는 추진기 관의 화염으로부터 사수를 보호하기 위해 대단히 까다로운 안전규정을 요구하고 있다. 이러한 안전 규정들을 만족시키기 위해 설계된 분리장치나 점화안전장치의 개발 및 성능평가를 위해서는 이들 장치들이 결합된 추진기관에 대해 실제 비행 환경 하에서 설계목표의 신뢰도를 시험하기 위한 동적연소시험이 수행되어야 한다. 본 연구에서는 이러한 휴대용 대공 유도무기 추진시스템의 개발이나 성능평가를 위한 동적연소시험 기법 및 동적시험대의 설계 및 제작에 관한 연구를 수행하였다.

  • A functional suspension model is proposed as a kinematic describing function of the suspension that represents the relative wheel displacement in polynomial form in terms of the vertical displacement of the wheel center and steering rack displacement. The relative velocity and acceleration of the wheel is represented in terms of first and second derivatives of the kinematic describing function. The system equations of motion for the full vehicle dynamic model are systematically derived by using velocity transformation method of multi-body dynamics. The comparison of field test results and simulation results of the ADAMS/Car demonstrates the validity of the proposed functional suspension modeling method. This model is suitable for real-time vehicle dynamics analysis.

  • The Grid code is being strengthen as increase of renewable energy ratio. Especially, the grid connection regulations are continuously being updated for stable operation of power grids. Static grid support and Dynamic grid support must make an accurate measure at Grid connected point because they needs control algorithm individually. It has to exactly measure voltage including switching ripple at the output of the inverter generating system. In addition, it is necessary to have an accurate voltage measurement when the situation rapidly changing the grid impedance is caused by the input of serial impedance of transformer and line impedance as well as Grid Fault Device. In this paper, We propose a new detection method of grid voltage to calculate accurately the r.m.s voltage of the grid connection point along the standard required by the low voltage regulation. We verified performance through simulation grid fault device.
