조강슬래그시멘트를 이용한 콘크리트의 기초물성에 관한 연구 (A fundamental Study on the properties of Concrete by using the Rapid Hardening Blast Furnace Slag Cement)

  • Blast-furnace slag cement has been used widely as a structural material due to the latent hydraulicity of granulated ground blast furnace slag(GGBS)for a long time as The wall as ordinary portland cement. In this study, based on the fundamental investigation on the high strength and high durable concrete using the high fineness GGBS the following remarks can be made. 1) The average desired strenth of concrete is Or=600~800kg/$\textrm{cm}^2$. 2) The above high strength concrete using the high fineness GGBS is more workable than those using only OPC. 3) The adiabatic temperature and drying shringkage decrease, so the density and resistance to sea water attack increase as results. 4)The unit cement content and unit air entrained admixture at the same desired strength of concrete decrease, so the economical high strength concrete can be manufactured from using the high fineness GGBS.

  • To improve the quality of concrete, we usually consider the reduction of water/cement ratio, the increase of concrete cover depth and the use of mineral admixtures. Reportedly, the use of admixtures make concrete more durable and tighten against water. But, it is needed to study more about the relationship between the admixtures and the chloride ion diffusion. Therefore, in this study, we focused on the chloride ion diffusion properties of the pozzolanic admixtures such as fly-ash, slag and silica fume which are known as being useful on chloride attack resistance when mixed into mortar or concrete. Furthermore, we treed to analyze the correlation between mortar and concrete using the admixture, which is useful for analyzing chloride ion diffusion mechanism.

  • In modern society, population overcrowding and concentration of facilities are happened because of the concentration on to city. So this phenomenon demands improvement of material's performance, technical development of structure analysis and design and improvement of constructing ability .High strength concrete has some merits. High strengthening makes the cross section reduced, and that cause decrease of structure weight. And using high durable and superplasticizer promote liquidity, thus high quality concrete can be produced. Because of these advantages, this study is for showing validity of using it by compression/tensile strength experiment. As this experiment's result, when concrete become stronger, interface intensity coefficient between cement and aggregate is different and they don't adhere to each other. So there is brittle failure. Fragility factor also steadily increase with strong concrete, it tells high strength concrete has problem. Therefore the sources used in high strength concrete like cement and aggregate must have great quality. So the source's performance must be supervised well because their quality decides performance criteria.

The Effect of the Exposed Aggregate Concrete Pavement on the Reducing Traffic Noise Emission

  • Portland cement concrete (PCC) pavements are more durable and have superior surface friction compared to most dense-graded asphalt. However, data collected to date generally show PCC pavements to create more noise than asphaltic surfaces. Recent research has shown that some of the new concrete pavement textures are worthy of further examination. One of these, exposed aggregate surfaces, appear to provide better noise quality characteristics as well as good frictional characteristics and durability. In this paper, we considered the relationship between noise level and various textures of exposed aggregate concrete (EAC) pavement by tire impact noise measurement. As the results of that, it was suggested that optimum surface texture and manufacturing condition of EAC in order to reduce tire and pavement interaction noise. Conclusively, we would like to recommend optimum condition of EAC pavement at the respects of materials and treatment. Furthermore, Frequency spectrum as well as A-weighted noise level was also evaluated to analyze properties of noise between PCC and EAC.

  • Nowadays concrete pavement is increasing, since it is more durable than asphalt pavement. And the concrete pavement with lateral rain groove may induce high level of concrete whine noise as pure tone. In this paper, the design factor for good concrete whine noise is considered in view of tire pattern and structure design. In respect of tire pattern design, the tire having a cap tread with high center part stiffness and low shoulder part stiffness shows best concrete whine noise performance. And in respect of tire structural design, the tire with a thick center part of cap tread and low tread part stiffness show best concrete whine noise performance.

  • In order to traffic safety during winter season, snowfall and cold area has been spread the deicing chemicals, and the spraying amount is increasing every year. Use of deicing chemicals has been and will continue to be a major part of highway snow and ice control methods. Chloride-containing chemicals such as calcium chloride or rock salt are main deicers for the road. Extensive use of chloride deicers is, however, the source of substantial cost penalties due to their corrosive action and acceleration to deterioration concrete structures. Deterioration due to de-icer salt occurs in practice in concrete pavement, dike, barrier and similar structure. This paper reports the results of effect of de-icer salt on durability of concrete structure in winter. To protect concrete structure from damage by de-icer salt in winter, the exposure test was performed using three methods such as increase in design strength upto 35MPa application of granulated blast furnace slag powder, and concrete sealer. Of these, the method of increase in design strength upto 35MPa showed better durability for deterioration by de-icer salt.

  • This study concerned the quantification of environmental aggressiveness of concrete structure building up and applied to design of concrete structure. Only the content of carbon dioxide evacuated in the process of fabricating concrete structure was taken as an environmental load and various parameters, for example, material production, transportation, building-up, destruction and reuse were considered. Also, the life span of a concrete structure was taken into account in evaluating the carbon dioxide evolution. Consequently a single equation for the environmental load was obtained, which were subsequently used to assess the effect of high strength/durable concrete structures.

  • PURPOSES : The purpose of this study is to evaluate the durability of ternary blended concrete mixtures adding ultra fine admixture. METHODS : From the literature review, crack was considered as the main distress failure criterion on concrete bridge deck pavement. To reduce the initial crack development due to drying shrinkage, CSA expansion agent and shrink reduction agent were used to ternary blended concrete mixtures as a admixture. Laboratory tests including chloride ion penetration test, surface scaling test, rapid freeze & thaw resistance test, non restrained drying shrinkage and restrained drying shrinkage test were conducted to verify the durability of ternary blended concrete mixtures. RESULTS : Based on the test results, proposed mixtures were verified as high qualified durable materials. Expecially initial drying shrinkage crack was not occurred in ternary blended concrete mixtures with CSA expansion agent. CONCLUSIONS : It is concluded that the durability of proposed ternary blend concrete mixture was acceptable to apply for the concrete bridge deck pavement.

  • Recent construction activities and maintenance of marine facilities have been accelerating to keep up with rapid economic growth in Korea. Marine concrete structures are to salts and chloride from ocean environments. The corrosion of reinforcement steel caused by chloride-penetration into concrete may severely affect the durability of concrete structures. the objective of this research is to develop a durable concrete by investigating the resistance of various corrosion protection systems utilizing different water/cement ratio, silica fumes, corrosion inhibitors, etc. A two-year verification test on various corrosion protection system has been doing in the laboratory. Corrosion investigations on reinforcement steel are now under progress for more than 63 concrete specimen. Corrosion-related measurements include microcell corrosion current.

  • To develop more durable concrete deck, performance characteristic test of HPC(High Performance Concrete) mixtures was carried out. The parameters used in this project were ; the mineral admixture details were 4 types such as ordinary portland cement(OPC), 20% fly ash (FA), 20% fly ash and 4% silica fume(FS), and 40% ground granulated blast-furnace slag(BS). Their design compressive strengths were 27MPa and 35MPa respectively. The results showed the compressive strength of concrete did not much affect the durability of concrete. HPC with blast-furnace slag(BS) showed the good durability but was prone to crack. HPC with fly ash(FA) or with fly ash and silica fume(FS) had the good durability and crack resistance.
