  • This paper, we propose a new phase-locked loop (PLL) system with the controllable output phase, independent from the output frequency, and lock-up time. This PLL system has a dual control loop is described, the inner loop greatly improved VCO characteristic such as faster speed response as well as higher operation bandwidth, to minimize the effect of the VCO noise and the power supply variation and also get better linearity of VCO output. The main loop is the heart of this PLL which greatly improved the output frequency instability due to the external high frequency noise coupling to the input reference frequency also the main loop can control the output phase, independent from the output frequency, and reduce the lock-up time of the step frequency response. The experimental results confirm the validity of the proposed strategy.

  • This paper describes a 100 kW high-efficiency isolated DC-DC converter for DC distribution system. The DC-DC converter consists of two dual-active-bridge (DAB) converters in parallel. The operating principle of the DAB converter is explained, and the algorithm for parallel operation of the DAB converters is proposed. Simulation and experiments are conducted to verify the performance of the proposed system. Experimental results demonstrate that the developed converter excellently marks 97.4 percent of peak efficiency under its normal operating condition.

  • The classical dynamic backpropagation learning algorithm has the problems of learning speed and the determine of learning parameter. The Extend Kalman Filter(EKF) is used effectively for a state estimation method for a non linear dynamic system. This paper presents a learning algorithm using Dual Extended Kalman Filter(DEKF) for Fully Recurrent Neural Network(FRNN). This DEKF learning algorithm gives the minimum variance estimate of the weights and the hidden outputs. The proposed DEKF learning algorithm is applied to the system identification of a nonlinear SISO system and compared with dynamic backpropagation learning algorithm.

  • Humanitarian demining is very important issue not only in mine affected courtiers but also for the courtiers which are technically, politically and financially supporting the mine affected courtiers. In order to achieve higher efficiency of the mine clearance operation, new technologies can significantly contribute to the societies. Since 2002, Tohoku University, Japan has developed a sensor system "ALIS" for humanitarian demining. ALIS is a hand-held dual sensor, which combines an electromagnetic induction sensor (EMI) and a Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR). ALIS has a real-time sensor tracking system based on a CCD camera and which enables the image reconstruction. We have tested ALIS in Cambodia and found that it can eliminate more than 70 % metal fragments. Since 2009, 2 sets of ALIS have detected more than 80 anti-personnel mines, and cleared more than 137,000 $m^2$ in Cambodia.

  • In this paper, an analytical model of the message delay in the DQDB (Distributed Queue Dual Bus) network is investigated. The DQDB network has been adopted as a subnetwork for the IEEE 802 MAN (Metropolitan Area Network) standard. The DQDB network consists of two high speed undirectional buses and a series of stations attached to both of the buses. Massages arriving at each station consists of severla packets according to its size. This system is approximated into " $B^{[x]}$/G/1 with exceptional first service queueing " by defining the concept of service time on a packet. The service time for a packet is defined as the time from the instant the packet arrives at the transmission buffer until the time the packet is fully transmitted. By using the BASTA property and the average work in the system, the mean message delay time is obtained.age work in the system, the mean message delay time is obtained.d.

  • Inchon Port is the second largest import-export port of Korea, and has the point at issue such as the excessive logistics cost because of the limits of handling capacity and the chronic demurrage. There are few research activities on the analysis and improvement of the whole port operation, because Inchon Port not only has the dual dock system and various facilities but also handles a various kind of cargo. The purpose of this paper is to develop the simulation program as a long-term strategic support tool, considering the dual dock system and the TU(Terminal Operation Company) system executed since March, 1997 in Inchon Port. The basic input parameters such as arrival intervals, cargo tons, service rates are analyzed and the probability density functions for these parameters are estimated. The main mechanism of simulation model is the discrete event-driven simulation and the next-event time advancing. The program is executed based on the knowledge base and database. From the simulation model, it is possible to estimate the demurrage status through analyzing various scenarios and to establish the long-term port strategic plan.

  • The configuration of Distribution Automatic System(BAS) is dual servers and raid 5(redundant arrays of inexpensive disks) clustering dual HDD. The DAS has the distributed object-oriented architecture using middleware software(BASEstar), so the number of client nodes has no limitation. Because the DAS is scalable, it can be configured using various application programs and be upgraded easily. The DAS has competitive to export because there are system development and accumulation of technology that coincide in International Standard, using common 05 and DB. This paper describes the structure of DAS hardware and software separately and proposes to improve program to share real time DB efficiently at each node.

  • High performance non-volatile memory system can mitigate the gap between main memory and storage. However, no single memory devices fulfill the requirements. Non-volatile Dual In-line Memory Module (NVDIMM) consisted of DRAMs and NAND Flashes has been proposed to achieve the performance and non-volatility simultaneously. When power outage occurs, data in DRAM is backed up into NAND Flash using a small-size external energy storage such as a supercapacitor. Backup and restore operations of NVDIMM do not cooperate with the operating system in the NVDIMM standard, thus there is room to optimize its operation. This paper analysis the operation of NVDIMM and proposes a method to reduce backup and restore time. Particularly, data compression is introduced to reduce the amount of data that to be backed up and restored. The simulation results show that the proposed method reduces up to 72.6% of backup and restore time.

  • One of the main reason advocating redundant manipulators' superiority in application is that they can afford to optimize a dexterity measure, for example the manipulability measure. However, to obtain the gradient of the manipulability is not an easy task in case of general manipulator with high degrees of redundancy. This article proposes a method to compute the gradient of the manipulability, based on recursive algorithm to compute the Jacobian and its derivative using Denavit-Hartenberg parameters only. To characterize the null motion of redundant manipulators, the null space matrix using square minors of the Jacobian is also proposed. With these capabilities, the inverse kinematics of a redundant manipulator system can be done automatically. The result is easily extended to dual manipulator system using the relative kinematics.

  • This paper presents the fabrication and testing results of a dual stage microactuator system for fine positioning of magnetic heads in hard disk drives. An electrostatic rotary microactuator was newly designed and fabricated. The microactuator was integrated into the head gimbal assembly of a disk drive system and its dynamic characteristics were investigated. Experimental results show that natural frequency and voltage gain of the microactuator are 4.3 KHz and 25 nm/V and the dual stage microactuator system achieves the tracking accuracy of 30 nm.
