Design and Implementation of Educational Robot for Programming Learning (프로그래밍 학습을 위한 교육용 로봇 설계 및 구현)

  • In this study an educational robot for programming education was designed and implemented. The robot in this study is composed of hardware containing a sensor, a processor, and a motor driver circuit, software to control the educational robot, machine parts to manufacture the robot structure, and a teaching material containing educational contents and the manufacturing manual. This robot is characterized by direct programming without a computer, which gives no spatial restrictions on robot education and enables dynamic program education beyond limitations of the existing static computer program education since students' programming results are found in the robot's movements. User-centered functional commands, which make it possible to control the robot with simple knowledge concerning hardware and basic commands, were used to enable even students who first accessed a robot or computer program to make access with ease.

Novel Priming Discharge Overtopping with Display Period Technique for the Plasma Display Panels (플라즈마 디스플레이 패널의 새로운 표시기간 중첩 프라이밍 방전 기술)

  • A novel priming discharge technique in which the ramp shaped priming pulse is superposed on the sustain period so that the entire plasma display panel (PDP) is discharged at the same time with a single drive circuit is proposed. From the experimental results, it is ascertained that the priming discharge is ignited only in a pixel in which sustain discharge does not occur and it has been understood that the priming pulse hardly influences the sustain discharge. Moreover, high-speed driving with address pulse widths of 0.7[${\mu}s$] was achieved and a wide address voltage margin of 40[V] was obtained by using the drive method applied the proposed priming discharge technique. In these results, full-HDTV PDP with 1080 horizontal scanning lines can be driven without decreasing the brightness and the possibility of the commercializing is also high because this technology is designed for using the commercialized driver IC.

  • This paper presents the design of LVDS (Low-Voltage-Differential-Signaling) transmitter for Gb/s-per-pin operation. The proposed LVDS transmitter is designed using BiCMOS technology, which can be compatible with CMOS technology. To reduce chip area and enhance the robustness of LVDS transmitter, the MOS switches of transmitter are replaced with lateral bipolar transistor. The common emitter current gain($\beta$) of designed bipolar transistor is 20 and the cell size of LVDS transmitter is $0.01mm^2$. Also the proposed LVDS driver is operated at 1.8V and the maximum data rate is 2.8Gb/s approximately In addition, a novel ESD protection circuit is designed to protect the ESD phenomenon. This structure has low latch-up phenomenon by using turn on/off character of P-channel MOSFET and low triggering voltage by N-channel MOSFET in the SCR structure. The triggering voltage and holding voltage are simulated to 2.2V, 1.1V respectively.

  • In this paper, small-area and high-reliability design techniques of a 512-bit EEPROM are designed for UHF RFID tag chips. For a small-area technique, there are a WL driver circuit simplifying its decoding logic and a VREF generator using a resistor divider instead of a BGR. The layout size of the designed 512-bit EEPROM IP with MagnaChip's $0.18{\mu}m$ EEPROM is $59.465{\mu}m{\times}366.76{\mu}m$ which is 16.7% smaller than the conventional counterpart. Also, we solve a problem of breaking 5V devices by keeping VDDP voltage constant since a boosted output from a DC-DC converter is made discharge to the common ground VSS instead of VDDP (=3.15V) in getting out of the write mode.

  • Low temperature polycrystalline silicon (LTPS) technology using a high power laser have been widely applied to thin film transistors (TFTs) for liquid crystal, organic light emitting diode (OLED) display, driver circuit for system on glass (SOG) and static random access memory (SRAM). Recently, the semiconductor industry is continuing its quest to create even more powerful CPU and memory chips. This requires increasing of individual device speed through the continual reduction of the minimum size of device features and increasing of device density on the chip. Moreover, the flat panel display industry also need to be brighter, with richer more vivid color, wider viewing angle, have faster video capability and be more durable at lower cost.   • Usage of EDR(Event Data Recorder) report for traffic accident analysis is currently increasing due to government regulation of EDR data release. Nevertheless, a lot of investigators simply adopt by comparing the number of ignition cycles(crash) at event to the number of ignition cycles(download) without an exact judgment whether event data occurred by this accident or not. In the EDR report, besides ignition cycles, there are many factors such as event record type, algorithm active(rear/rollover/side/frontal), time between events, event severity status(rollover/rear/right side/reft side/frontal), belt switch circuit status, driver/passenger pretensioner/air-bag deployment, PDOF(Principal Direction of Force) by ΔV to be able to decide whether or not to adopt. also the event data is considered enough to vehicle damaged state, accident situation at the scene of the accident. and there is described in "all data should be examined in conjunction with other available physical evidence from the vehicle and scene" in the CDR(Crash Data Retrieval) report. Therefore many investigators have to decide whether or not to adopt after they consider sufficiently to above factors when they are the traffic accident analysis and investigate the causes of a accident on the adopted event data. In this paper, we report to traffic accident investigators notable points and analysis methods on the basis of thousands of cases and the results of one's own experiment in NFS(National Forensic Service).

Design and Fabrication of X-Band 50 W Pulsed SSPA Using Pulse Modulation and Power Supply Switching Method (펄스 변조 및 전원 스위칭 방법을 혼용한 X-대역 50 W Pulsed SSPA 설계 및 제작)

  • In this paper, a X-band 50 W pulsed solid state power amplifier(SSPA) is designed and fabricated for radar systems. The SSPA consists of a driver amplifier, a high power amplifier, and a pulse modulator. The high power stage employes four 25 W GaAs FET to deliver 50 W at X-band. To meet the stringent target specification for the SSPA, we used a new hybrid pulse switching method, which combine the advantage of pulse modulation and bias switching method. The fabricated SSPA shows a power gain of 44.2 dB, an output power of 50 W over a 1.12 GHz bandwidth. Also, pulse droop < 1 dB meet the design goals and a rise/fall time is less than 12.45 ns. Fabricated X-band pulsed SSPA size is compact with overall size of $150{\times}105{\times}30\;mm^3$.

  • In this paper, a power amplifier module for WCDMA base-station applications is designed and implemented using GaN field-effect transistors (FETs), which uses an envelope tracking bias system. The designed module consists of an high gain MMIC amplifier, a driver amplifier, a power amplifier, and bias circuits for envelope tracking applications. Especially, a FET bias sequencing circuit and two isolators are integrated for stable RF operations. All circuits are assembled within a single housing, so its dimension is just $17.8{\times}9.8{\times}2.0\;cm3$. Measured results show that the developed power amplifier module has good envelope tracking capability: the power-added efficiency of 35% at the output power range from 30dBm to 40dBm over a wide range of drain bias.

  • In this paper, we study on design of vehicle control system which is based on ${\mu}C/OS-II$, We component a electric motor drive system for simulator because the most of vehicle part use electric motor for actuator. We use the XC2287 microcontroller which is often used vehicle body controller because XC2287 guarantee high confidence and durability in vehicle industry. The electric motor control system derive PWM from general I/O port in XC2287 microcontroller. The signal is supplied at electric motor after amplifying that using driver circuit. The user control duty of PWM signal through controlling potentiometer which is connected to XC2287. through that, the user control speed of electric motor. we synchronize both input process via controlling potentiometer and PWM output process using semaphore. we verify porting of ${\mu}C/OS-II$ via experimentation.

  • In this paper, we present the LED dimming control system by using ADPCM (Adaptive Differential Pulse Code Modulation). This ADPCM apparatus accurately controls the LED current with high resolution reducing the RFI (radio frequency interference) due to the spreading out of the harmonics of current of pulses. Additionally, this makes it easier to increase the accuracy of control operation. This study introduces to make a digitally controlled circuit for controlling LED with high-energy efficient by adopting pulse current to LED. The LED current drive system we designed are two systems, the digitally-controlled unit and analog switching mode power supply unit, can be developed separately. The simulation shows the sigma delta modulation of digital to analog converter's output when the input level is 0.7. From this simulation, the output is approached to accurately 0.15% to target value with 510 pulses.
