모멘트 방법을 이용한 GPR용 안테나 해석 (Analysis of GPR antenna by using the moment methods)

  • The nput impedance of a patch-tupe dipole antenna for GPR is calculated by using the moment methods in case that the surrounding medium is modeled on a multi-layer structure consisting of lossy dielectircs. When the cone-type function equivalent to pulse basis function in employed, one of the double integration can be performed analytically. The remaining integration is excuted numerically in a finite rnage and analytically in asymptotic region. The current distributions and input impedances of those antennas are calculated numerically.

  • In this paper, we consider a code acquisition of W-CDMA signals over multipath Rayleigh fading channel when double-dwell serial search code acquisition is used for initial synchronization. We derive the detection and false alarm probability, and mean acquisition time mathematically by taking into account of multiple H$_1$ cells and double-dwell serial search. It is noteworthy that the more the number of the post-detection integration, the shorter the mean acquisition time in low SNR.

  • This paper describes a design experience of a low-cost 6 DOF spatial tracker system where relative low accuracy and relatively long ranges, wireless communication will be achieved by means of low cost accelerometers and gyros with contemporary microprocessor. However, there are two key problems; one is the bias drift problem and the other is that single or double integration of acceleration signal suffers not only from noise but also from nonlinear effects caused by gravity. To be specific, beginning and stopping of hand motions needs to be accurately detected to initiate and terminate integration process to get position and pose of the hand from accelerometer and gyro signals, since errors due to noise and/or hand-shaking motions accumulated by integration processes. Several experimental results are shown to validate our proposed algorithms.

  • Characteristic functions play an important role in probability and statistics; however, a rigorous derivation of these functions requires contour integration, which is unfamiliar to most statistics students. Without resorting to contour integration, Datta and Ghosh (2007) derived the characteristic functions of normal, Cauchy, and double exponential distributions. Here, we derive the characteristic functions of t, truncated normal, skew-normal, and skew-t distributions. The characteristic functions of normal, cauchy distributions are obtained as a byproduct. The derivations are straightforward and can be presented in statistics masters theory classes.

  • This paper explores the free vibrations of double hinged curved beams with transition segment. In this study, the clothoid curve is chosen as the transition segment of beams. The differential equations governing free vibration of such beams are derived in which the effects of rotatory inertia and shear deformation are included. The Runge-Kutta method and Determinant Search method are used to perform the integration of differential equations and to compute natural frequencies, respectively. In numerical examples, the double hinged end constraint is considered. The lowest four natural frequencies are presented as functions of three non-dimensional system parameters: the slenderness ratio, shear parameter and stiffness parameter.

DOUBLE SERIES TRANSFORMS DERIVED FROM FOURIER-LEGENDRE THEORY

  • We apply Fourier-Legendre-based integration methods that had been given by Campbell in 2021, to evaluate new rational double hypergeometric sums involving ${\frac{{1}}{\pi}}$. Closed-form evaluations for dilogarithmic expressions are key to our proofs of these results. The single sums obtained from our double series are either inevaluable $_2F_1({\frac{4}{5}})$- or $_2F_1({\frac{1}{2}})$-series, or Ramanujan's 3F2(1)-series for the moments of the complete elliptic integral K. Furthermore, we make use of Ramanujan's finite sum identity for the aforementioned 3F2(1)-family to construct creative new proofs of Landau's asymptotic formula for the Landau constants.

Estimation of Displacements Using the Transformed Response in Time and Frequency Domain

  • If the accelerometers are used in measuring the response, the absolute values of the velocity and displacement are not usually obtainable because their initial values are not accounted for in the integration of the acceleration response. A new dynamic response conversion algorithm of both the time domain and the frequency domain is proposed for the problem in estimating the displacement data by defining the transformed responses. In this algorithm, the displacement response can be obtained from the measured acceleration records by integration without requiring the knowledge of the initial velocity and displacement information. The applicability of the technique is tested by an example problem using the real bridge's superstructure under several cases of moving load. In the response conversion procedure of the frequency domain, the identified response according to the frequency can be estimated by changing over the limits of integration. If the reliability of the identified responses is ensured, it is expected that the proposed method for estimating the impact factor can be useful in the bridge's dynamic test. This method can be useful in those practical cases when the direct measurement of the displacement is difficult as in the dynamic studies of huge structure.

모션 기반 선택적 주의 시스템 (A Motion-driven Selective Visual Attention System)

  • 본 논문은 동영상에서 ROI(region of interest)나 FOA(focus of attention)를 탐지하기 위한 방법으로써 여러 시각자극(stimuli)중 모션(motion) 정보를 사용한 선택적 주의 시스템을 소개한다. 2개 이상의 연속적인 프레임으로 구성되는 모션은 시간정보가 포함된 현실세계의 시각장면에서 시간적으로 현저함(temporal saliency) 정도를 나타내는 특징이라 할 수 있으며, 본 연구에서는 이러한 모션을 인간 뇌의 대뇌 시각피질에 존재하는 MT(middle temporal cortex) 영역에 존재하는 "이중 대립 수용야(double opponent receptive fields)"의 특성과 "노이즈 여과(noise filtration)" 기능에 대한 기존의 심리학적 연구 결과를 바탕으로 분석하고, 이렇게 분석된 결과를 MT에서의 "모션통합" 이론을 기반하여 통합한다. 이러한 과정을 통해 동영상에서 다른 주변의 영역과 현저히 다른 돌출 영역으로 정의되는 ROI또는FOA를 탐지할 수 있다. 제안하는 시스템의 성능분석을 위해 인간을 대상으로 한 심리학적인 실험을 추가적으로 수행하여 제안된 시스템을 통해 얻어진 결과와 비교함으로써, 본 시스템이 얼마나 타당성이 있는지 검증하였다.

  • 3-Dimensional System in Package (3-D SiP) structure (Amkor calls it mPossum-molded Possum) using double side Surface Mount Technology (SMT) and double side molding was evaluated in order to achieve small/thin form factor as well as good functionality by integration and double side layout. As the new platform on laminate substrate basis, molding process was challenge in mold flow balance at top and bottom side and package warpage control over the overall assembly process. There were two types of different molding process evaluated with 1) 1-step molding which was done at both side at the same time and 2) 2-step molding which was done at the conventional molding process twice. Mold simulation helped to narrow down the material selections and parameters available before actual sample build. There were many challenges for this first trial in design/ parameter and material types but optimized them to enable this structure.

충돌 후 열차의 차체 가속도 평가 기법 연구 (A Study on the Techniques to Evaluate Carbody Accelerations after a Train Collision)

  • In this study, we suggested several approaches to evaluate the collision acceleration of a carbody under the article 16 of the Korean rolling stock safety regulations. There are various methods to evaluate the rigid body accelerations such as the displacement comparison method by double integration of filtered acceleration data, the velocity comparison method by direct integration of filtered acceleration data, and the analysis method of a velocity-time curve. We compared these methods one another using the 1D dynamic simulation model of Korean high-speed EMU composed of nonlinear springs or bars, dampers, and masses. From the simulation results, the velocity-time curve analysis method and the displacement comparison method are recommended to filter high frequency oscillations and evaluate the maximum and average accelerations of a carbody after a train collision.
