A novel method for non-matching interfaces on the boundaries of the finite elements in partitioned domains is presented by introducing interface elements in this paper. The interface element method (IEM) satisfies the continuity conditions exactly through interfaces without recourse to the Lagrange multiplier technique. The moving least square (MLS) approximation in the present study is implemented to construct the shape functions of the interface elements. Alignment of the boundaries of sub-domains in the MLS approximation and integration domains provides a consistent numerical integration due to one form of rational functions in an integration domain. The compatibility of displacements on the boundaries of the finite elements and the interface elements is always preserved in this method, and the completeness of the shape functions of the interface elements guarantees the convergence of numerical solutions. The numerical examples show that the interface element method is a useful tool for the analysis of a partitioned system and for a global-local analysis.
The Dvl and Axin proteins, which are involved in the Wnt signaling pathway, each contain a conserved DIX domain in their sequences. The DIX domain mediates interaction between Dvl and Axin, which together play an important role in signal transduction. However, the extremely low production of DIX domain fragments in E. coli has prevented more widespread functional and structural studies. In this study, we demonstrate that the DIX domains of Dvl and Axin are expressed noticeably in a multi-cistronic system but not in a mono-cistronic system. Formation of the $DIX_{Dvl1}-DIX_{Axin1}$ complex was investigated by affinity chromatography, SEC and crystallization studies. Unstable DIX domains were stabilized by complexing with counterpart DIX domains. The results of the preliminary crystallization and diffraction of the $DIX_{Dvl1}-DIX_{Axin1}$ complex may prove useful for further crystallographic studies.
Selection of appropriate knowledge acquisition and representation techniques is regarded as a major task in the development of expert systems. This depends on the characteristics of problem domains. Expert system builders have often adopted a technique without a formal analysis of application domains. The purpose of this paper is to provide the best knowledge aquisition and representation technique for use in human resource management problem domains. In an attempt to meet this purpose, the conceptual contingency model that suggests the best technique according to managerial decision categories is used as a guidance. In order to determine the priority of managerial decision categories, the Analytic Hierarchy Process and an extended method are proposed.
Let D be an integral domain, t be the so-called t-operation on D, and S be a (not necessarily saturated) multiplicative subset of D. In this paper, we study the Nagata ring of S-Noetherian domains and locally S-Noetherian domains. We also investigate the t-Nagata ring of t-locally S-Noetherian domains. In fact, we show that if S is an anti-archimedean subset of D, then D is an S-Noetherian domain (respectively, locally S-Noetherian domain) if and only if the Nagata ring $D[X]_N$ is an S-Noetherian domain (respectively, locally S-Noetherian domain). We also prove that if S is an anti-archimedean subset of D, then D is a t-locally S-Noetherian domain if and only if the polynomial ring D[X] is a t-locally S-Noetherian domain, if and only if the t-Nagata ring $D[X]_{N_v}$ is a t-locally S-Noetherian domain.
For the implementation of callcontrol software, it will be shown how to divide problems into dimain and also presents methodologies to specify domains according to the object-orented analysis techniques. Domains is specified by the set of related objects as shown in call control examples. Events and conditons are able to be transformed into system invariant so that is possible to figure out the relationship between domains and those concludes that the software requirements specification can be established for the design and implementation. Relationships existing between domains can be formalized so as to verify software requirements.
A new method has been developed in this paper for automatic quadrilateral mesh generation for a two-dimensional domain. The method is named 'centering method' because it centers a point at the domain and then divides it into sub-domains using cutting lines from the center point. Each of the cutting lines is selected based on the criterion using the angles between the boundary of the domain and the cutting line. The decomposition of the domain into sub-domains is repeated until every subdomain has four or six nodes. Pre-defined splitters are used to divide six-node domains into quadrilateral elements depending on their configuration and presence on the boundary of the initial domain. Arbitrary domains are meshed as examples to verify the robustness of the new method.
This research was designed to illuminate that work domains and family domains are not separated but interacting spheres and to suggest efficient coping strategies than alleviate work/family role conflicts. The subjects of this study were 395 employed professional wives living in Seoul. Korea. Survey methods were questionnaires. Data analysis strategies were percentile, frequency, one-way-anova and multiple classification analysis. The results were as follows; 1)Employed wives experienced time-based conflicts and strain-based role conflicts. This finding supports the scarcity approach that multiple roles inevitably create strain. 2) Individual, family and work-related variables were predictors of work/family role conflicts. This findings indicate that work domains and family domains cannot be regraded as separated spheres. 3) Employed wives tried to meet all the given roles demands not by reducing role responsibilities, but by increasing the efficiency of role performance. This finding reflects the characteristics of employed wives who try to perform successfully all the responsibilities. 4)The negative correlation of coping strategies and work/family role conflicts suggests that strategies can function effectively in alleviating the work/family role conflicts.
Cross-domain recommender system transfers knowledge across different domains to improve the recommendation performance in a target domain that has a relatively sparse model. However, they suffer from the "negative transfer" in which transferred knowledge operates as noise. This paper proposes a novel Multiple Fusion-based Deep Cross-Domain Recommendation named MFDCR. We exploit Doc2Vec, one of the famous word embedding techniques, to fuse data user-wise and transfer knowledge across multi-domains. It alleviates the "negative transfer" problem. Additionally, we introduce a simple multi-layer perception to learn the user-item interactions and predict the possibility of preferring items by users. Extensive experiments with three domain datasets from one of the most famous services Amazon demonstrate that MFDCR outperforms recent single and cross-domain recommendation algorithms. Furthermore, experimental results show that MFDCR can address the problem of "negative transfer" and improve recommendation performance for multiple domains simultaneously. In addition, we show that our approach is efficient in extending toward more domains.
In this paper, we prove Lp estimates of a class of singular integral operators on product domains along surfaces defined by mappings that are more general than polynomials and convex functions. We assume that the kernels are in L(log L)2 (𝕊n-1 × 𝕊m-1). Furthermore, we prove Lp estimates of the related class of Marcinkiewicz integral operators. Our results extend as well as improve previously known results.
